  1. Last chance. If he can't get it going this season, on a consistant basis, then he has to be moved on. No point in turning up every so often. He had some good halves of football last season, and some absolutely horrendous games, just like the previous season.

Certainly hope he's not played out wide, and I'm not too sure if he's a striker - not a goalscorer, targetman or provider.

It's up to him to start performing, and show that he can make it at Rangers. He has to start the season off well, or he's going to struggle once again.

I think he's a goalscorer mate, must be honest.

Some of his finishing has been absolutely brilliant when given the chance, but I still think he works 'too hard' if such a thing is possible. He genuinely plays like a big Bluenose and is running about all over the shop to get the ball, but if he took a leaf from Boyd's book and concentrated on getting in the box and finishing moves, he could easily score 20 plus.

Wouldn't say he was a goalscorer.

Some of his finishes have been sublime but he doesn't really have a killer instinct like Boyd to be an out and out goalscorer. When he gets through on a one on one he seems to think the job is done and hits a very tame effort.

He'll be a bit like Miller. After a very good season he could well end up with 20/25 goals but more often than not he'll be a more 10/15 goal a season man - which isn't a bad thing, if he makes it up with assists and such like.

  2. I see no advantage what so ever in playing Bougherra at right back.

We'd lose our best centre back as well as taking away some of his attacking threat.

The main reason he does so well when he charges forward (IMO) is that no one knows how to deal with an attacking Centre back! Stick him at right back and he just becomes a right back.

Say all you want about Whittaker but he was our most improved player last season. He really came onto a game and probably actually got most of his goals playing at full back. He was pish in the CL but so was everyone.

By all accounts Wylde has a good game when he came on against QOS. He also done fairly well (set up a goal) in his cameo agaisnt Hearts last season. I don't know if he'll get that much game time but as of right now, he appears to be our best option.

  3. Doesn't matter if its a loan signing or not, if we have a wage cap of £17k (if thats even the case) we wont be going over it to sign Bullard.

Walter knows how important it is not to damage squad morale so he wont want to be bringing in someone of significantly higher wages and possibly disrupt the group.

  4. Has this actually got legs?

Football wise he has the ability but if he cant keep himself fit then it wouldn't matter how much he cut his wage demands by, it wouldn't be worth it.

Every signing we make HAS to improve the team. Bullard with his glass knee's...... I'm not sure.

  5. I don't see Davis leaving. Even with the financial state I still really doubt we'd accept a £5/6 million bid for him.

Boyd and Thomson are the only major departures (so far at least).

Boyd scored more goals but Miller was (by far IMO) the more effective striker last season. McCulloch, without being outstanding, was solid and although I hate the word he provided more 'dig' than Thomson last season (on top of Thomsons injuries).

If we can keep the spine of the team then we'll be fine.

McGregor (even Alexander), Bougherra, Davis and Miller. If they all stay and stay fit (Miller being the only worry) then we don't have too much to worry about.

We will make additions to the squad. A player like Eagles, someone thats unpredictable, quick will be a massive asset. He's a little inconsistent but I think Walter can help with that.

  6. Sounds like the weather is going to be a major major factor in this.

    Champions challenge is off.

This probably suits a British challenge, someone like a McIlroy or McDowell or any of the English boys will all have played regularly on links courses in horrible weather.

Harrington, even though he's been pretty poor lately will be loving this I'd imagine.

Still cant rule out the likes of Tiger or Phil but I think a British winner is very likely.

  7. If McCulloch manages to sort out a new contract (somehow), I genuinely think McCoist will make him captain next year.

At this exact moment in time he probably is the best candidate.

    (tu)

On the playing side of it he isn't even half as bad as some people are desperate to make out either.

I'd rather have him in there than Edu.

  8. We were never going to get a high fee for Thomson with him going into his final deal. All this talk of £3/4/5 million is fairytale stuff. £2 million for someone who can leave at the end of the season on a free is decent business.

He doesn't want what we're offering so we simply have to get rid and move on.

  9. Do we really need to replace him, or do we change our system like we tried to do in pre-season last season.

Walter has to decide what route we are going down, I wouldn't be shocked if the 4-4-2 was scrapped this season coming.

I wouldn't say we need to replace him in terms of like for like but we do need to bolster the strike force.

Miller, Lafferty, Fleck, Little, Velicka doesn't really inspire too much confidence.

  10. I really like the big target man/small quick man partnership so someone in the mold of Welcome (I've never seen him play but he at least looks like the big powerful type) along with a Kenny Miller or Goodwillie would probably work quite well.

If we could get Lafferty on form for a season he could be a massive player, some of the performances he has put in have been fantastic but unfortunately the vast majority of the time he has been woeful.

  11. Zidane was class and style, Ronaldinho was an explosion.

Overall, Zidane was the better player and was fantastic to watch but like Papaguy said, Ronaldinho was out and out entertainment.

I've never seen a better individual performance that Ronaldinho against Madrid at the Bernabau.
