  1. Och away and get your hole, its just a light hearted laugh
  2. I wouldn't have signed any of them at the time, I wanted to sign SFL players as we were and are an SFL club. Obviously I've been happy with Temps looking back. Still think Shiels is a good player and will come good but I never wanted Black anywhere near the club regardless of what league we were in.
  3. Sorry mate! When I come to think of it it's pretty obvious what you are getting at. Cheers
  4. Edu's goal versus Celtic. I was right next to the unwashed; euphoria.
  5. The wages that would satisfy division one players would still be lower than what the SPL players are looking for. We would probably be getting a better product on the pitch without wasting as much money. If it doesn't work out for them then they can find another club, which is probably going to be easier if they have Rangers on the CV. You say signing division one players is not a long-term strategy. Correct. Rangers are not going to be playing in SFL on a long term basis. We should worry about signing SPL quality when we are in the SPL. Do you really think the SPL players we have signed are going to have significantly improved as a result of playing SFL football for two or three years? I'm well aware of the signing policy at Ibrox, thank you very much. As much as I don't like it, I have accepted it; this thread was merely just a way of finding out who members of the forum would have signed at the start of the season. Its hypothetical but the last time I checked this was a forum so it's a perfectly acceptable thread.
  6. Is it? I'm sure if McCoist had enough time to sign the SPL players then he would had enough time to sign SFL players surely?
  7. Hope I'm not reading this incorrectly and you are criticising me for not suggesting players? I suggested Steven Lawless above. Apologies if I have misread, however
  8. I think the biggest worry would have been that they weren't 'glamorous' enough for supporters to buy season tickets. I reckon Sandaza et al were panic buys.
  9. One of my close friends knew Steven Lawless of Partick Thistle when they were growing up and says he is a staunch Rangers fan. Would have been a great signing if he fancied playing for us.
  10. Reading the topics posted on the forum recently, it is fair to assume that our signing policy is driving fans up the wall. For some reason, we did not buy SFL players who are more suited to the way football is played in the SFL, who would command lower wages and who would probably be more motivated to play in the Third Division. Instead, we signed SPL players who are far too comfortable putting in half-hearted performances, knowing they will still earn over-inflated wages at the end of the week despite looking unmotivated and bored shitless. Maybe it was due to the fear of fans not buying season tickets because there were no glamour signings? Regardless, it was never going to work that well and the money we have spunked in the last year could have been saved for the future when we are back in the top flight and aiming to get into Europe. So if the clocks were turned back to our very short transfer period: who would you have signed? Feel free to mention players you have encountered when playing Football Manager
  11. Two things jumped out at me when reading that article: "Yes, the Spaniard has been guilty of failing to earn his massive wages but he was the victim in this case and the treatment meted out to him by his bosses has been shameful." - Was the treatment of him really shameful? He told someone the exact details of his wage when he shouldn't have. In my opinion, the only thing that was shameful was his conduct. "First by Craig Whyte but also now by Green who promised much but delivered little during the August transfer window when McCoist was in desperate need of players." - Green delivered little? Really? We have the second highest wage bill in Scottish football for f*ck sake. Does Jackson think it would only be fair to pay more wages than Celtic?
  12. I would say our downfall was more down to HMRC and Craig Whyte to be honest with you. Far more.
  13. I'm not a fan of him in the slightest, but that was a nice thing to do in my opinion.
  14. Got a lump in my throat reading that, just as I do two minutes into every home game when the fans applaud; thank you for posting. Fair play to Lawwell for his letter, nice touch that.
  15. I agree with both points but they probably have to be on big wages, unfortunately. I think we should be looking at signing Rangers supporting players in the first/second division - they would jump at the chance of playing for us despite dropping divisions and even if they aren't given big wages like Miller and Boyd, they would still be on a far better wage than their current club (I think). Not to mention the fact that these players are probably more suited to lower league football than the likes of Sandaza.
  16. Wouldn't be surprised if the Sun added that in themselves and even if he did actually say it, its the result of the brainwashing carried out by the media in the couple of months following our failed CVA. A Rangers legend who has developed into a fine manager, would take him back in a heartbeat if ever there is a vacany. For now, however, Coisty has my backing. I haven't agreed with his signing policy, I haven't been filled with confidence by his overall record as manager and style of play, but as far as I am concerned he has had to work under extremely difficult conditions and played a huge part in saving our club from extinction. So he deserves his chance.
  17. Good point. Although, I think I read that he said he would consult the fans if any options did arise.. (I may be wrong).
