  3. Playing Real Madrid away was never going to be a stroll in the park. We had already lost players like Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate, Alan Hutton, Younes Kaboul, Steven Pienaar and Wilson Palacios to injury before the game. Then we lost Aaron Lennon to illness as the players walked-out for the match. Harry then decided to play Gareth Bale and Luka Modric out of position to accomodate Jermaine Jenas (why?). We conceded a soft early goal then Peter Crouch got himself sent-off (no complaints - he was an idiot) within the first 15 minutes. The only surprise was that Spurs managed to keep the score down to 0-1 by half-time.
  4. For a clown, he's not doing too badly is he? In fact, Harry has the best record, statistically speaking, of any Tottenham Hotspur manager since the club joined the Football League in 1908... Spurs Manager's Records 1898-2011 ...all that and he can juggle too!

  6. Spurs had three promising attacking midfield youngster on our books recently - Adel Taarabt, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Giovani Dos Santos. I fear we may have kept the wrong one.
  7. I'd be very happy indeed with that - Spurs could then finish the job off at the Lane.
  8. Tottenham Hotspur face Real Madrid on Tuesday 5th April 2011 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarter Finals. The second leg will be played at White Hart Lane on Wednesday 13th April 2011. The winners of the tie will meet the winners of Barcelona v Shakhtar Donetsk in the Semi-Final. In 1961, Bill Nicholson instigated Tottenham Hotspur's tradition of playing in an all-white kit for their European matches by telling his players "You look like Real Madrid - now go out there and play like them!" Spurs and Real Madrid have already met once before in the fourth round (Quarter Finals) of the UEFA Cup in season 1984-85. Tottenham lost 0-1 at home, which was their first defeat at the Lane in European football since 1961. 14. There was never any doubting the lad's natural talent but the problems we had with him were his application and footballing discipline. He had his chances while he was with us (perhaps not enough of them though) but never really made much of an impression. I'm absolutely delighted that he's proved to be such a success at Queens Park Rangers though. We got him on a 'free' and sold him to QPR for around a million plus who knows how much more in add-ons and sell-on clauses.

  19. Manchester City having Mario Balotelli in their squad gives me confidence that Tottenham Hotspur will grab that elusive fourth UEFA Champions League qualification slot this season.
  20. England and Scotland (both are the joint oldest National football teams in the World) first met in 1872 at Scotland's invitation. Since then, there have been 110 games played resulting in 45 wins for England, 41 wins for Scotland and the remaining 24 matches drawn. England have outscored Scotland by 192 goals to 169. The last meetings between the two teams came in the play-offs for the EURO 2000 competition (Belgium/Netherlands) with England winning 2-0 at Hampden Park on 13th November 1999 and Scotland winning 1-0 at Wembley four days later. The "Home Internationals" competition, which had run from 1884, was suspended in 1984. Various reasons were put forward for the demise of the competition, including lack of interest from the fans, pressures of qualification for the European Championships & World Cup and increasing fan violence. 22. I think joe lewis had something to do with rangers once invested money or something. About a decade ago, ENIC had around a 20% stake in Rangers, which they amassed for £18.9 million. They sold their interest in Rangers for £33 million, along with their shares in clubs like Slavia Prague, Vicenza Calcio, FC Basel and AEK Athens as the then new UEFA regulations prohibited multiple interests in different clubs.
  23. Saturday March 26th 2011 Which British football club has lost the most major European Competitions Finals? You can find the answer here... Football Trivia Question of the Day Good luck!
  24. What are Spurs jewish connections ? Tottenham's Jewish connections originate from the fact that Stamford Hill had a high proportion of observant Jews and was located near Tottenham's ground. There was always a strong support of Spurs from the wider Jewish community, who also followed Arsenal and to a lesser degree West Ham. Spurs had several Jewish players in the years before and after World War Two. Since the late 1970s, most of Tottenham's directors and Chairmen have been Jewish and the club is currently owned by Joe Lewis through his ENIC company and is run by Chairman Daniel Levy. Former Spurs manager David Pleat is Jewish and the club has featured one Israeli player - Ronnie Rosenthal. Surprisingly enough, Spurs don't have a very large following here in Israel, as the most popular English clubs are Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
