Great point. The true test of a youth system isn't how many trophies you win, it's how many players you produce that are good enough for th 1st team.

He (quite rightly) believes that the history books will not comment on the piss-poor standard of football, the grinding out of narrow wins purely on fitness, but will simply record "his" achievement.
Miller and Boyd (if either or both happen) are about immediate success - get through the next season, worry about the future later.
That is why guys like Telfer are not on his radar - and Gallagher popped up as an afterthought as the season was closing.
The simple fact is that the club will not progress at all until McCoist is moved out - and it is equally clear that he has no intention of voluntarily going - therefore the focus is again on the lack of leadership shown by Wallace.

Dundee United are a far better club at devloping and giving their youth a chance.

When the club won league with 7 games to go these youngsters myst've thought they'd get a few 90 minutes for the first team.
Sadly Ally put an unbeaten campaign which no-one will care about in years to come before the development of our youngsters.

You really only need to read some of the bile spewed against Barry Ferguson on here to realise that some so-called 'fans' don't deserve any loyalty whatsoever from any player who comes through our youth ranks.

Why was AMC was allowed to bring so many players to the club from the outset, on wages that were more than every other club in Scotland bar one.
Salaries - Pay offs Bonuses - for non-playing employees were also way out of line with our current position.
Missed a once in a lifetime opportunity to start afresh imo.
