Charlie Telfer to Dundee United?

Recommended Posts

Don't have a link but seen this on a Rangers facebook page, disgraceful if he's allowed to go.

Speculation abounds online that Dundee United are on the verge of signing Rangers midfielder Charlie Telfer. The youngster who turns 19 this summer, has scored eight goals for the U20s this season & has been one of the stars of Rangers successful reserve team. That success has created a buzz throughout the spring of the prospects that Telfer could be in line to compete for a first team spot. He made his debut in a brief substitute appearance last month in Rangers 4-0 victory over Stenhousemuir.

However, Telfer’s contract expires at the end of this season & the rumours are pointing toward the likelihood of Telfer signing with Dundee United. If it is true, it would further cement the theory that more & more young players in Scotland are being directed away from the Old Firm. While Rangers have had some success with Lewis MacLeod & Fraser Aird becoming prominent pieces of the core of Rangers – many supporters have been dumbfounded by Ally McCoist limiting further access to the first eleven for other youngsters.

If this happens it shows how backward our club is going! No scouting and letting our decent youths leave to join that mob. You may have to think to yourself at least the boy knows he will probably get a game there while we stick with "experienced" plodders with no guile or imagination!

We have lost better players than Telfer, remember that Dylan McGeoch(sp?) off to the tims, he seemed destined for greatness, now at Coventry on loan I think, Shinnie and Dean Furman another two that imo were better players, I go along with most on here in thinking its poor that McCoist played the old players to preserve his unbeaten season where the young ones should have been given game time, it looks good on Mr Selfishs cv.

If your good enough Charlie you will get a game,Mcleod looks to have a bit about him, Airds a maybe the rest??

This is the danger of not involving enough of the youngsters a good crack at the first team squad in what was meant to be our new, evolutionary outlook. They'll just go where they feel more wanted.
