  1. We did it a few years ago, I remember going to I think a title decider against Hearts so there is a precedent, but that was of course before Liewells cronies ran the SFA/SPL/World football etc. etc.

We didn't just do it that time, it was regular, and I went to loads of them. I remember a steward telling my mate he wasn't allowed a can of Irn Bru, as it was against stadium regulations. Absolutely no idea who he was going to throw it at, as the players were in Perth.

  2. Why not? What does he have to offer? More cup failures? More European exits? More league capitulations? More players signed that we dont need? Very enticing to any prospective buyer i say.

Firstly, he has a huge popularity within the support at large, and secondly, I think it all comes down to the signings. There are players that he wanted to buy, and he wasn't able to get them (Cuellar, Goodwillie et al) and when taking the bargain basement options, he had a hit and miss run, which is what you would expect given the lack of support he has had from the boardroom.

His performance over the last few weeks has been like a one-man PR machine, and has been befitting of his status as a legend in the club. With all that in mind, he deserves the opportunity, and any new owner would be very brave to ditch him.

  3. Well he is out on a limb on this claim. If he is wrong then he has zero credibility and there goes his Blog.

Well, not sure that every blogger with any credibility is always right, but it does seem like a big claim to make without any sort of backup if it isn't true.

  4. Don't have enough time to go obsessive on it, but just loving being back as Cmdr. Shephard, and kicking all manner of alien ass. Cool to have a different type of combat play from the previous games, seems a lot more manic in the war arena, and enemies just seeming to appear from out of almost nowhere. Not been so much of the easy chat with team-mates as before, but I'll persevere with that.

  5. Current Value <cr> Potential Value <cr> <cr>

Sky Sports Scout - John Fleck

John Fleck has long been tipped to make a big impact at Rangers and he is now starting to show that could be a huge star of the future.

The nephew of former Rangers star Robert, Fleck was long talked about because of his family connections - but he is now showing that he could very well be something special.

A muscular forward is very similar in build and style to Wayne Rooney, which has seen the media draw similarities between the duo, and Fleck himself admits he would love to become Scotland's version of the Manchester United star.

He has been in and around the first-team squad since he was 16 and became the youngest-ever player to appear in a British Cup final when he came on as a substitute in Rangers' 2008 Scottish Cup victory over Queen of the South.

He has benefited from the Rangers staff nurturing him rather than throwing him in straight away. He fired his first goal for the club in January and now looks set to compete for a regular starting berth.

Indeed, his impact with the Rangers first-team has seen calls for his inclusion in Scotland's senior squad - despite being just 17.

    The scout says...

Fleck has benefited from Walter Smith's guidance, he has not been rushed and is now coming through at a steady pace - although he could very well make it impossible for him not to be a first-team regular within the next few months.

The next few years will be vital for Fleck and will show whether he will be able to live up to his tag of one of the best young players in Europe - a label not many young Scottish players have had in recent times.

    The Scout rating

    Shooting: 8 out of 10

    Passing: 8 out of 10

    Tackling: 7 out of 10

    Heading: 7 out of 10

    Pace: 8 out of 10

    Vision: 9 out of 10

Current ability: 7 out of 10

Potential ability: 10 out of 10

    OVERALL SCOUT RATING: 64/80

    Current value: £5million

    Potential value: £35million

And he can be very good in Football Manager too

  6. The current global situation suggests that Manchester United are by some distance currently the biggest club in England, surpassing the status that Liverpool held throughout the 70s and 80s. Arsenal have been consistently in the area and are by no means a small club, certainly with a more successful history and wider fanbase than teams like Chelsea.

Back when I was a kid, the 'Big 5' in England was Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Spurs and Man U, 4 of those teams are probably in what would now be a big 6, although Man City have a lot of catching up to do.

  7. I don't see how he is the type of player that we have been missing, because I don't think we've ever really seen what type of player he is, or at least not since the days of watching the younger players on the old Rangers TV. I thought the two that stood out were Fleck and McMillan, but maybe it just isn't going to come through.

I would love to see what others see in him, but I haven't in any way seen it from him to date.

  8. Just read this:

I understand that the “Save Rangers” has been forcibly stopped by Rangers Football Club.

I stated in this blog that it was

nothing other than a piece of grandstanding by the RST, and their driving force Mark Dingwall.

As the website gathered meaningless “pledges” of “over £10M”, all the data was harvested by the Trust including names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.

It even appeared to have the support of the Rangers Supporters Assembly and Rangers Supporters Association, despite both bodies working on a tangible donations site, to actually save the club.

As recently as yesterday morning, The Trust were boasting of support from Sir Alex Ferguson.

He was clearly misled, as were the other “supporters”.

I wonder if he (Ferguson) now knows that the “Save Rangers” scam is no more, and that a real scheme to assist Rangers in it’s time of need is imminent. The Rangers Fighting Fund will be officially announced this week.

How long until the email addresses gathered on “Save Rangers” are sent “Follow Follow” advertising? Or sold?

I am sure Rangers would rather put their support behind the RFFF anyway, I must admit, I was tempted to 'pledge', but there are two things about it, 1) I didn't necessarily agree with the aims; and 2) I didn't want to give my phone number against any amount of money, for fear of being hounded later.

  9. It is a real shame given that he seemed to have the assets to be a strong, powerful, direct forward, but I am not sure if the ability wasn't what we thought, the desire wasn't there, the workrate wasn't there, or if he just lacks the self-belief. I honestly believe that in only a few weeks we have seen more potential to do serious damage from Salim Kerkar, than in years of hoping with Fleck. Other younger players like Little, Hutton, Ness and even Kane Hemmings seem more likely to be part of our future than John Fleck.

  10. It isn't what you say at all,try and explain your point,

Well, you seem to be demanding that Ally and Walter do something, whether they agree with it or not, and you seem to also be expecting that we will pay the bill no matter how high it might be.

That in itself doesn't have to be aggressive, but the tone of the whole thread is.

  11. Qualified on number 1 - There may or may not be a place for religion in society, I don't think that we should limit ourselves to being affiliated religiously, I am wary of the way that the club could go, my personal beliefs are secular, so, if I was choosing that is where I would be comfortable.

  12. The future model needs to be sustainable, if that is that we have to operate based on what we can afford from season tickets, sponsorship and money coming in from player sales, then that is reasonable, if we have an owner/group who has/have a method of investing top-up sums as and when it seems to be required, then that would be equally viable. I love to think we could have players like Laudrup and Numan again.

  13. Maybe he could try something like "In the event of any infraction of the rules by any member club, we will investigate and instigate a disciplinary process, we would not wish to comment in advance of this process"? I'm sure he could ask St. Mirren how to release a no comment comment.

  14. I am absolutely happy with the administrators trying to call out Paul Murray. He seems to be self-publicising, in an attempt to find people to back him, and he is continually talking about 'almost being ready to make a bid'.

If he can make a viable offer, which is transparent then that is fine, but I am not at all sure about it.

Equally, not sure about becoming a plaything for a Far Eastern business group, look at Blackburn.

  15. I'm one of those who have "issues" with the serial liar.

I think he knew EXACTLY what Whyte's plan was from the off - he knew of it because he was party to it.

His lapdogs (and there are some on here) will paint a different picture of him, but to me he will never be forgiven for taking us to this dark place.

    Never.

    A bastard.....and a petrol-blagging one at that. :wanker:

I honestly don't know if he did or not, and I am not sure we will ever truly see the truth of it.

I do think it is fair to have an alternative view of the previous 20 years, and I have been concerned about the desire to separate the 'Murray Era' from 9IAR, for example.

  16. Of course, Regan is just doing what the SFA have always done with member clubs in trouble, and every other association. Stick the boot into everyone, and investigate them to death, isn't that the standard for clubs in financial difficulty? Oh no... that's right, only us.

  17. Many people have issues with SDM and his time in charge of the club for a variety of different reasons. The outsourcing that he did with regards to catering and such like, is a very common and sensible approach, the songs that he didn't defend the fans for singing were rapidly reaching a stage when they were indefensible in the society, but the real issue is around the money we spent, and I always respected that he firstly did put his own cash in to the club, that he did sell us for nothing at the end, rather than expecting anything back, and I was happy to be there when he chased the dream of European success.

Bringing in Advocaat and backing him with cash should have led to greater success, our team had Porrini from Juventus, Numan, van Bronckhorst, Ferguson, Mols, Albertz, etc, we defeated a fantastic Parma team, and we were basically kicked out of the CL by Oliver Kahn assaulting Michael Mols.

I can blame him for not doing the right work on Whyte, when there were so many who seemed to be warning him, but for the rest of it, I would always defend him.

The recession issue is two-fold, one his personal wealth diminished dramatically, so he couldn't bail us out anymore (which was what he had always done in the past) and two, the Bank of Scotland basically went bust, and were supported by Lloyds, who had no desire to have a debt owed by a football club.
