  1. Thing is thought, I remember when it was them in the financial trouble back in the 90s, and every phone-in was a 'Celtic Special', with Brian Dempsey guesting, and 'Celtic Fans Only' for the callers.

Now it is us, we seem to have a similar approach, 'Celtic Fans Only' for comment.

  2. KIND-HEARTED Kirk Broadfoot has revealed he is now living on his savings but was more than happy to take a 75 percent wage cut to help keep Rangers alive.

The Scottish international was one of more than 11 first-team players who agreed to take just 25 percent of their wages for the remainder of the season, while other lower earners took 50 and 25 percent cuts to help prevent casualties in other areas of the club.

Broadfoot, who became a new dad, admitted he couldn't have lived with himself if his boyhood heroes and had gone from administration to the wall.

Broadfoot said: "I have taken a 75 percent cut until the end of the season. The money I will be left with won't pay my bills but I am lucky because I have made some decent money in my time at Rangers.

"I have been able to save and invest in one or two things. I have tried to look after the pounds and pence. I have got a bit of money behind to see my family through this next two to three months and so I am lucky enough on that front, but it is not just about me.

I have taken a 75 percent cut until the end of the season

"It is about every single player in our dressing room, all the players and management staff have played their part.It is not about individuals because we have made this gesture as a team.

"We are all in this together and it will be together, along with the fans that we will come through this difficult time. The most important thing throughout all this wasn't individuals but preserving the long-term future of Rangers Football Club."

The administrators, Duff and Phelps, hope they can find a new owner for the club by the end of the week.

With great respect for what he has done in taking the cut, how much was he on to be in the top band???

  3. Where else could you have bought a Rangers share for a tenner? Don't think it would have beenpossible.

You don't need to give the rights of the share or any shares to the RST. You can if you want, I'm sure, buit I certainly wouldn't dream of doing that.

I didn't say it would have been possible to buy it for less than a tenner or not, I just said it was worth less than the value paid for it.

In terms of the rights, voting rights are such that is a Supporter's Trust doesn't combine the shares, then ultimately, there is absolutely no point to it, I always figured that was the plan.

I am not even saying whether people should be doing it or not, just that I wouldn't, for the reasons given.

  4. A lot of the comments are aiming towards the view of 'it's none of your business if you're not a member', while in normal times I would fully agree with that, people have felt completely free on all the boards to discuss the ins and outs of the finances of Paul Murray, Brian Kennedy, and any random people that have been picked out as potential buyers.

Given that it is speculative, it is fair to ask a number of questions over any groups who are interested in being involved in the future running and ownership of the club, and especially given our recent past.

The tone of a lot of the posts is a bit malevolent, and insinuating a lot of wrongdoing, which does seem harsh without any particular backup.

Personally, I dislike the entire concept of a body that wants fans to pay £10 to buy something worth far less than that, and then give the rights they would have for owning that share over to a body who will use that 'shareholder's' vote, even if that person disagrees, but that is just me.

  5. Just was randomly thinking when was the last time Rangers scored in 89th minute plus to win a game?

All i can think of is Edu against tattie munchers few seasons back and then Darchville away at ICT in the 1-0 game. Surely there are more?

We always concede silly last minute goals e.g St Mirren at home this season- its about time we turned it around.

I remember a few, Kevin Thomson equaliser to make it 3-3 versus United a couple of years back, even Nuno Capucho away at Kilmarnock. But, although it was years ago, Mikel Arteta last minute penalty against Dunfermline 6-1 will live in my memory forever.

  6. i will be honest and frank.

McCoist has been a rock through our darkest moment. but on the field i am concerned. long before our darkest moment.

I think our scouts need to take a good look at themselves as they are useless.

I far prefer to use a policy of younger players. 5 under 23 year olds in every line up would be nioe (starting 11)

true fan representation at board level

and escalators to the club deck cos i hate the fucking treck up those steps :-)

IMO, alot will disagree no doubt

    I'm with you, escalator loyal!

  7. Unfortunately I don't mind the stairs that much, it's what's on the park that's killing me, still what a view :D

People slag us off for not singing, firstly, Who can sing when they are struggling to breathe, secondly, who can hear us when we do? View is amazing, although I suspect a few rows further back and it would be like subbuteo

  8. Question 2: what did u guys think in general about the following players (good and BADD things)-

Aaron Niguez - not really, Weiss- out of our range, Beasley - seemed to have it all but not enough direction, Cousin- attitude questionable, Darcheville- apparently perfect - but didn't ever happen, Hemdani- water carrier, Burke- inconsistent, SEEEEBBBOOO- dear god, Velicka- mobility scooter, Namouchi- seemed to have something but not quite sure what, Malcolm- limited, Rae (Gavin) at his level now, McCormack- would have liked to have seen him given a run, Clement- neat but not strong enough, Svensson- could've been beaten in the air by a schoolgirl, Prso- One of our most complete strikers, would have loved to have him in the team when he was a couple of years younger, Pierre Fan Fan- again, looked like he should have had it, but just didn't work.

  9. Dunno if this has already been mentioned but with the benefit of hindsight since all this administration business started, what happened with Davie Weir?

I know he left voluntarily because he said he'd like to free up the resources for the club. But might there have been something else going on?

I still think Weir could have done a job for us especially so now we're playing for pride. I think he's exactly the type of guy you'd want around at the moment.

    Ohh well.

I think it was more that he wanted to leave and try to find somewhere to keep playing, and genuinely thought that his wages could be better used by the club, I don't think he saw this coming, or that the club agitated for it. I suspect his deal was heavily waited on pay for play anyway.

  10. I can, but I'm in a minority. ;)

Did we not go through a season where Hutton was responsible for setting up almost every goal we scored in the CL? He had a lot to offer us, but ultimately his rashness in the tackle, and lack of defensive intelligence was always going to let him down.

  11. Looking through the available players in current squad of first team/reserves and youth - who deserves to play for the shirt?

What would your starting 11 team be vd United and who would you have on the bench? What sort of tactics/formation would you deploy?

    Get in!

    McGregor

    Broadfoot Perry Bartley Papac

    Little Davis Edu Kerkar

    Aluko

    McCulloch

Tell the wide players to get at them and get crosses in the box for McCulloch, give Aluko a free role, and tell the full backs to stay back a bit more and keep the defence tight. (I will have changed my mind completely by next week)

(and changed centre halves if our two are apparently suspended)

  12. The media reaction on Friday was nuts, most Rangers fans were full of joy at the day, and in the evening press conference someone accused the administrator of making the club less attractive to buyers by not making huge redundancies, lovely question from a sports hack who knows nothing of finance.

We need to make sure that the bids that come in are based on two things, firstly sustainable funding plan for the actual takeover, and required investment, and two, a forward plan that makes even a hint of sense, with a transparent strategy.

  13. I dont think he does. We only ended up bargain basement because we failed to qualify for Europe, its not the clubs fault the manager is unable to work with the second highest budget in the country. Its not like he is working on strings as tight as Danny Lennon, Kenny Shiels or Steve Lomas! In fact he has had too much support, the board jeopardised our future by allowing him to spend so much on his squad.

Good PR doesnt win football matches. Maybe the new manager will make him PR Executive?

Look at the balance sheet and tell me if he has spent a lot on the squad, one man leaving is more than he has spent bringing in about 9. The many areas in which the board jeopardised our future probably don't really include over-investment in the first team squad. As we have seen in the past, it isn't a good idea to try and qualify for Europe and then spend the money on the players to play there, you need those players to qualify. At the time, it was a bit suspicious, but more and more now, it is obvious that the stories about buying Cuellar, Goodwillie, Juhazh, etc, were just to string us along.

I just don't feel this season, with the utter madness and turmoil going on has been anything that could give us a chance to judge the manager. Walter Smith left, stating that we needed substantial investment in the squad to keep us successful, the substantial investment didn't happen, neither did the success.
