  1. The crazy thing is that Real Madrid had mammoth debts around the turn of the millennium and only a bail out from the city of Madrid saved the club and put it back into the black (the city bought the club's training facilities for a king's ransom) and the daft cunts just carried on spending.

You think the club who overspent monstrously, but were successful, and then got an easy bail out, which would probably be repeated if they were ever in trouble again are daft? They seem pretty smart to me.

  2. Isn't tax & Vat the only sphere where this kind of behaviour is permissible?

Anyway, if vote for changes is passed on 30th April, to take effect from 14th May, wouldn't liquidation on 13th May dodge the new sanctions?

Gives almost a month to sort things out &, if CVA turns out not to be a viable option, these newco's can be fired up overnight.

Hope it doesn't come to that, but it could be a plan.

Speaking about legal stuff, the UK government could pass a law tomorrow that it is illegal to have blue eyes, and everyone must be imprisoned for 10 years for committing that crime, they could withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights (which is currently enshrined into UK Law) and anyone with blue eyes would be screwed.

  3. On a separate point, I've wondered about the legality of the 'greater of 15 points or one third of last year's points' penalty. That treats two member clubs differently. It's a bit like giving a 6 point penalty to someone who speeds in an Audi and only 3 points to someone speeding in a Skoda. That would be illegal.

Not illegal, firstly, it isn't a criminal penalty, so it doesn't really matter, secondly, there are many cases in company law, or competition law, where similar sorts of clauses are introduced.

All of this thread is down to issues which relate to laws or contracts, the SPL is a competition, which can have pretty much any rule it wants.

  4. In a Newco scenario, with the SPL's proposed rule changes in place, it would make little difference to us in any meaningful way which division we were in.

SPL with points penalties, and financial penalties, not many players, but other teams in the league benefitting from sponsorship, tv money, and (possibly) our away support.

SFL with no penalties, not many players, teams in the SPL screwed due to lack of finance.

I know which way I would prefer to go.

  5. I am at a total loss as to how anyone can come to the opinion that the administrators are doing either a great job, or are incompetent, because we are not even remotely qualified to know. But, I would say beware public statements from any prospective bidders, they all have their own agendas. TBK are clearly pushing the 'liquidation' angle, as they see that as their best route to getting the supporters on board, trying to win the PR battle, presumably because theirs is not the best offer.

  6. Firstly, obviously you can be an internet fan, and go to the games, you can live a long way away, and be a fan, you can do what I do, which is internet fan, live a few hundred miles away, and have a season ticket and go to as many games as you can.

I used to go to a lot of away games, and it isn't really possible anymore, I don't think that means I am not entitled to have an opinion that those who want to use us for our money, but who want to punish us constantly, should get their comeuppance and not get any of our fan's money?

I would suggest that those who do go to away games give that a great deal of consideration, which seems fair, hardly forcing them not to go.

  7. I'd at it to the list of fouls that are given when a referee 'wants' to.

Barcelona get it because they get basically everything (no-one in the world seems to care about their tax issues either).

We get penalised for this, we get penalised for foul throws, I even remember a free-kick given against us for Joachim Bjorklund shepherding the ball out by blocking off the attacker to get a goal kick once (against Grasshoppers Zurich I believe)

  8. It is true though.

We had 10 points deducted for non-footballing matters, otherwise the gap would be 8 points now (and possibly less had team morale not been affected by that).

8 points, with 5 games left, including 1 old firm match.

Should I mention Lee Wallaces' goal at the piggery? Maybe, maybe not. Possibly 6 points rather than 8.

If you are saying that you don't think ra selik are capable of throwing away a dubious lead in 5 games, I think you're giving them far too much credit.

I've just watched Lennon saying that its the greatest achievement of his professional career, and I find that to be utterly hilarious. If we'd have been competing, I would have been gutted if ra selik beat us to the finish line.

Champions by default. 2007 was the last time they won it "fair & square".

I am not saying that they aren't capable of throwing away a lead, indeed, any time there is any pressure put on them to do anything, they fold, but, regardless, anything else that has happened to us in terms of points, etc, is our own fault. He is clearly ridiculous in claiming such a thing as well, and like one of my earlier posts, that tainted thing is great fun because it clearly upsets him and them so much, but, the points deducted, etc, were our responsibility.

  9. The idea that it would 'absorb most of the teams from the Europa League', when that really means, 'absorb more teams from the top countries', is pathetic.

Does anyone remember the days when clubs like Dynamo Kiev and Red Star Belgrade were names that could frighten you, Anderlecht, Benfica, etc?

UEFA are (in conjunction with the top countries) creating a huge unsustainable bubble which is heading towards bursting, their recent 'fair play' rules, and now this idea are just purely designed to try and keep the current top teams clinging to the summit for as long as they can.

  10. The circumstances, even pre-admin, were extremely difficult for him, and he has kept us going for the last few months, at this point in time, he SHOULD be unsackable, and I don't think a new owner would find a huge amount of support from the playing staff if they were to consider any changes in management at this stage.

  11. The whole 'lose your history' piece has become ridiculous, and consistently seems to appear in articles and interviews, a decent number of other teams have gone into liquidation, or other financial restructuring models, and nobody considers any of them to have lost their history, the football authorities do not consider them to have lost their history, and it is an irritating and invidious lie.

I am not advocating liquidation at all, however, we should not write off the possibility that if there is a pot of money that equals say £20m, in a liquidation situation, that would go into the club, whereas in a CVA it goes to the creditors, and we definitely shouldn't write off that possibility on the basis of a lie about losing our history.

  12. I am pretty sure we were all told a few weeks ago that we couldn't leave the SPL and rejoin the SFL even if we wanted to, so, presumably the same would apply, these 10 clubs would join the queue to join the SFL in the 3rd Division, personally I'd rather see some Highlands and Junior clubs coming in to make up the numbers.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Interesting that the Sky deal demands both Rangers and Celtic are in the league, I'm not sure it's quite as fussed about Dunfermline.

  13. I would recommend anyone reading this listens to the Times' own 'The Game' Podcast, which has a short section about the game on Sunday, and Marcotti and chums come to the conclusion that Scotland is nuts, but that Lennon is both a victim of the situation, but also a cause, and actually thrives on the conflict and bigotry. Interesting to hear a view which is unbiased, and comes from outside of Scotland, to be honest.

  14. As far as I recall, it is fine for him to lie as frequently as he wishes, but if a referee tells a white lie when talking to him, just to shut him up, then he has to resign.

Anyone remember earlier in the season:

TLB: "Kris Commons isn't playing because he is injured"

Kris Commons tweets: "I'm not injured, just not being selected"

Media outrage at the lying.... no, sorry, didn't bother mentioning it, except to say that Commons shouldn't contradict his manager!

  15. Regardless of how Celtic's 'winning' of the title should be viewed (and I definitely had a moment yesterday when I could foresee a glorious comeback from 21 points behind), we really have been the architects of our own problems, (unfortunately 'we' has to include Craig Whyte), the only people that have robbed us of this title were linked to Rangers.
