It is a good start. At least there is now a scout system in place. It did say that Brown was only to be scout for Scotland and UK, not like he is the head scout for UK and Europe and everything. It sounds like a small setup now but it is just beginning and I am sure will grow bigger in future. It is good news for the club.

Need to start somewhere. If we manage to unearth a few gems and sell them on then I imagine they will reap the rewards with more investment

Sounds like a start has been made and we are moving in the right direction. Does Bomber have any experience in scouting? it says in the piece he has a track record of this and I was wondering when that was. Also judging by that, Brown is essentially covering the UK, Dave Swanick covers Europe and Bille Mclaren gets promoted to give them a hand.

I dont wish to sound negative,  - and you have to start somewhere - but you get a sense of the magnitude of the task by that statement, rather than be buoyed by it. Certainly, I do.

Maybe because winter is coming I'm going into a downer.

I remember reading a book about scouting, can't remember the name think it was the nowhere men? Probably wrong but it does seem very much a intertwined job.

The guys we have appointed will have contacts and know other scouts and is a network in it's own right. I'd imagine there will be other people part timers in other countries for instance that will look at players for us etc.

Very hard job being a scout btw. Cracking book if anyone is interested and can get the name right ?

I don't really agree with the "he'll thrive with better players" stuff. The lad's biggest flaws are mental. He looks to get the ball away as soon as he has it as he's scared to try to do anything with it, or doesn't have the confidence to. He looks for the next youngest guy in the team to get torn into to mask his own flaws. He might develop into a good player, but the job from Accrington Stanley to Rangers, where he's not only expected to win but expected to be a big part of it, is too much for him. I think he'd benefit more from going out on loan than he would just having better players around him, but I don't think we have the strength to justify sending someone on his wages out on loan to develop.

If we can get a few hundred grand and a percentage of any future fee, we should grab it. I've no doubt that he'll end up playing in the Championship and doing alright there in a few years, and at least then we'd get a cut of whatever transfer takes him to that level.

Don't know about that. Yesterday it seemed to be that his first thought was to turn and drive up the park or cut inside on a run and done it a few times. He was playing good one twos with the front players and getting forward

  4. I think Windass is the type of player who would thrive when he is playing with better players and we are being more solid and dominant in the game. He is not a back to the wall type of player. But in a structured team with better players I think he thrives

I have seen his team and he finished 5th  and 9th in a fuckin garbage league. The guy should be nowherenear Ibrox and just like Warburton , some of us can see it before he even gets here.

Doesn't mean he can't be successful here. It's been said before but pochettino got sacked by espanyol when he had them in last place. Now he's seriously challenging in the prem. There is no guarantees about anything

  6. I imagine he is the best candidate to the board because he fits with our style and ethos that we are trying to implement from the 1st team down.

Seems that everyone that has an opinion on him is a good one. Maybe the best thing for him is that he is a coach that focuses on coaching and picking the team and can let go of everything else under a DOF. Hopefully things will click here for him. He certainly seems to have the mentality to tackle Scottish football but also be able to adapt.

STV news reported it as if it is a certainty that Pedro has got the job, but where are we getting the money to pay for him as he must be on a right good wedge from the oil-rich sheikh?  Add to this the money we will have to pay for a DoF and it just doesn't add up, plus a sizeable budget for the new manager to work with. My head is frazzled with this because we don't have the income to pay for all this. Unless we have unearthed a very rich sugar daddy I just don,t see where the money is coming from.

He has a few months left of his contract and I can almost guarantee he will take a hefty wage cut because it will give him a brilliant platform to hopefully impress and move on to England eventually.
