I can't see anything on the horizon that makes me think Walter is going to change his ways and play with pacey wingers servicing Boyd, or Velicka. Even if he got Davis by some miracle that tube would play him right mid!

I don't think it could get any worse than having Adam, Dailly, and McCulloch clogging about. Why don't we play a 4-4-2 with a screening midfielder in the Makelele role with midfielders pushing on? In fact, playing a 4-5-1 most teams use a big strong frontman to hold up the ball, and when midfielders get forward they create a 4-3-3 shape to capitalise on the chances. Do we do that? Do we fuck! Let Miller chase a long ball into the channel while Adam, and McCulloch thumb their bum waiting on an invitation to get forward.

We aint got any wide players! Novo out, seen more of Halley's Comet than Burke, Beasley legs are made of biscuits, McCulloch is as useful as a cock flavoured lollipop. Walter aint going to go with width, which is shame, coz it is what we need!

I'd play Thomson centre mid, problem is with Whittaker is he can take players on (Sporting Lisbon game), but he hasn't got the pace of Hutton, he needs a give and go. Can't see us playing anything but a 4-5-1, but I prefer Miller to run the channels, out goal in Kaunus came from Novo running the channel and Thommo spurting forward from midfield on the left. Need more play like that, we can't deal with midfield runners making a run, so I'd suspect a lot of teams can't. Kaunus certainly couldn't on the one time we did it.
