  1. "Apart from the players not having the ability to play the system against better opposition, I am confident that they hate it, as they look mighty uncomfortable with it on the park and the performance and results tell all."

Blue Avenger, if you're right that's very worrying, I mean the bit about the players hating it. I wouldn't disagree about them not having the ability.

  2. I,m sure we'll never see him again, certainly never in the first team. A horrible individual who should never have been near our club, and I still don't think MW was behind his signing. If you look at all the clips, and there are plenty, of his misdemeanours, both on and off the park, it's obvious he is a coward who only strikes out when he has the protection of team-mates, referees, or his mates. Whatever he did or said to Hallday, Warburton, or Weir it must have been way over the top, Weir is no shrinking violet and is well used to bust-ups on the training field. In short, Barton is a cunt, but the club don't have the evidence to get him for gross misconduct. I'm sure lessons have been learned and we will never again sign such an arsehole..

  3. psb07158  Thanks for posting the link, very enlightening, it's interesting to note that fans of other clubs take an interest in the background, both social and historical of their competitors and are not afraid of voicing their opinions. Lessons to be learned.

  4. That interview was painful to watch, he looked  and sounded like a broken man unfortunately. Is this the beginning of the end, is the job too big for a man who is relatively inexperienced ?  I had great hopes for him this season but after listening to that I now have grave concerns as the last thing we need is the circus of finding a new manager half way through the season.

  5. Nixon RFC, I hear what you're saying and am not afraid to say what I feel, in a calm and composed way. Born a Blue Nose, same reply applies, I,m not part of any problem but if I want to keep my job, and I have a mortgage etc like most people, I have to be a little bit careful about what I say at work. In other words if I lose it and say what I,m really feeling I,m out the door. Who is going to pay the mortgage then ?  No doubt I,m not the only one in this situation.

  6. I absolutely despair, if I,d been asked ten years ago I would have said the sectarian issue in the west of Scotland had improved considerably, but nowadays it has got considerably worse and it's all down to the tims constant bleating and making themselves out to be the oppressed party.

It really is now a serious issue and while I'll agree we have some numpties in our support I,ve never experienced the hate that is currently being shown by the scum support. I married a catholic, my line manager is a catholic, as is his boss, both decent guys on the face of it, although the sly dig slips out now and then, and I,m finding it hard not to express my disgust at what has been going on. I can't afford to lose my job but I find it hard not to tell them how I feel about their fellow tims.

  7. This whole saga with Barton has not gone well, is not going well and may not end well (financially) for the Club.    I still think part of the 'issue' is Warburton's own approach to how he sought to manage the player and his approach to managing a heated discussion which he permitted (maybe even encouraged) but may have lost control of (hence Barton being suspended).   A lot of the focus is on Barton, but maybe more should be on Warburton.   The Club of course has no option but to back the manager but it sure would be interesting if fuller and more complete explanations of why suspension was deemed to be the only suitable action to take and only the Club can answer that.   Trouble is, no one seems to be asking them that question.

Reformation Bear, I have been as guilty as most of speculation and I kinda agree with your post, but where we differ is I think Warburton is capable of dealing with and thinking through a situation like this. He comes across as an intelligent guy, the sort who would think before acting. My feeling is Barton has decided he knows better than  anyone else ( pretty sure he has a big ego ) and really ripped in to everyone. All speculation, again, but I think Barton has gone way beyond open and truthful debate.

  8. I,m amazed that Mutton is still in a job as any half decent employer would have binned him for his obvious bias. I honestly thought the way he spoke to Derek Johnstone would have been the final straw, it was disrespectful, unprofessional, and entirely unwarranted. The man is an attention seeking arsehole and it says a lot about BT sport that he is still employed.

  9. I understand where you're coming from Dude but I just don't think that Barton in any way fits into the template that Warburton set for the type of player he wanted to sign. Could it have been a " marque " signing by the board to appease the fans ?

For all the good that MW has done you do have to question his judgement.  Unfortunately like so many other managers his ego let him down with Barton.  He thought he would be the one to change the leopard's spots, but they never do.

I don't disagree with your post and you may be correct but I still have doubts about whose idea it was sign to sign him in the first place.

  11. I think the club has decided that whatever Barton has done it merits him being sacked. I know it's not necessarily representative but I'd guess the majority on here want him gone as well.  I said previously it could be that Mark Warburton has told the board it's him or Barton, make your mind up. If I'm anywhere correct, and I accept I may well not be, I think we should all be hoping we can get rid of him as cheaply as possible and backing the club in their efforts to do just that.

When we signed him I thought we were getting a changed, more mature, Joey Barton, but unfortunately he has proved the truth in the old adage of " a leopard never changes his spots ",  His previous misdemeanours have already been posted on here, once a horrible uncaring selfish thug, always the same. I don't believe for one minute that Mark Warburton was the main mover behind his signing but hopefully he can be the main mover in getting rid of this piece of shite who should never have been near our club. Rant over.

Would the a sensible approach not be for Barton to find a new club in January?

Yes, but Barton ain't the type to play ball and I fear he will heap more bad publicity on us before he goes. Terrible man and a foolhardy signing, no matter who was behind it.

  13. Think we've all been guilty of speculating, myself included. However you would think that training ground bust-ups are fairly common and don't result in disciplinary action being taken. So, speculating again, it could have been the aftermath of the bust-up when Weir and Warburton intervened that led to Barton being suspended. Whatever it was it surely must have been more than a verbal disagreement between players.

  14. Quote from Blue Avenger  " Barton is a loose cannon and no shrinking violet. He embraces trouble as second nature, which with this now all dragging out, the board have shown they had no contingency plan to deal with what is arguably our single most valuable playing asset in terms of wages, plus all the mhedia hype that surrounds him that could adversely affect our corporate reputation and that is sheer negligence.

I am now even beginning to doubt he is even on a charge of gross misconduct and the board are scurrying very incompetently around either looking for some obscure reason to make it so or trying to find money to pay him off. Either way, there is no winning for us and all the winning for him."

Agree with this which makes me wonder if Warburton has delivered an ultimatum to the board " It's Barton or me, make your mind up ". Sheer speculation I know but there's something going on.

  15. As others have said I think the club are looking at all options in trying to get rid of Barton without it costing us a fortune. These things do take time and I have seen some relatively minor cases dragging on for weeks.  Another thing which has been niggling away in the back of my mind is could it be that Warburton was not the prime mover in the move to sign Barton initially ?

  16. Even if Barton is restored to the first team squad I don't think the rift between him and the management, him and the rest of the squad, and between him and a section of the support will be healed. That is why I think that if a way can be found to ditch him without costing a lot of money then that is what should happen.

No he shouldn't have had a bet but frankly it is a ridiculous rule.

What the fuck has it to do with the SFA or anyone else if you bet on a game not involving yourself?

It should not even be against the rules to bet on your own game as long as you are betting to win so cannot be accused of not trying.

I don't disagree with any of your points but I'm just hoping there's a way we can sack him without paying him money we don't have. I believe he has been disrespectful to Mark Warburton and will disrupt team harmony. He has added nothing to the team, so far, and probably never will. An adventurous but flawed signing which went against the manager's signing policy.

  18. Regardless of whether the betting rule is good, bad, or whatever, Barton has broken it and I don't think we employ anyone without making them aware of the rules. I just hope this gives the club the right to sack him without any compensation as he has already brought enough negative publicity. We don't need him.

  19. I can remember singing " go home ya H*** " at them but like others don't remember when they started using it.  I agree that being called names should be like water off a duck,s back but have to admit the " H** scum " banner did annoy me, even though it just showed how low they will stoop.
