  1. i see people have chosen to highlight the part where it says 'he hardly gets booked' and missed the following 'for a rush of blood'. i know jig got booked more than thomson last year. but he also played a shit load more. i was a hater of mcculloch aswell before last season, but unlike some, i can admit when a player proves me wrong and mcculloch unequivocally did that last year. blind stubborness to admit that is just moronic. i also however agree that thomsons last old firm performance at ibrox where he nailed keane and mcgeady in the opening 5 mins will be my lasting great memory of him. i will also remember however when he gave the ball away and then left arshavin at a throw and manchester that led to the opener. short memories on that front i guess, mustv been a few 'hawfing' tackles against hearts that made up for it for some. great news on eagles, exactly the type of attacking, immaginative player we require and hopefully he doesnt want 25k a week without proving himself like thommo did.
  2. going by quoted prices, we made around 900k. and have two league titles, 4 cups, a euro final and 2 champs league pay outs. i dont understand how we are still in such massive shit but this group didnt do us out of a penny in my book. You forget the ridiculous wages that some of these individuals were on. Most notably - Mendes, apparently £30,000 a week. Take that over 30-40 weeks and he walked away with over a million quid, So technically we paid roughly £4.500,000 and sold him for £1,500,000. Shite business. Not sure about the rest of them. If you include wages in such calculations then I'd imagine almost every transfer results in a loss. 100% correct mate. if we are going to include wages in all this it descends into a farce. the reason why there is no comment on the rest of them is because they were all on relatively small cash. are we going to strat barking on about shirt sales with mendes on the back and all that crap?? i guess not.
  3. i think the uproar over this particular guy goes to show how much the whole 'get right fuckin intae him' mentality has taken over in our club. thomson guarenteed one thing every game, a booking. and in some instances his stupidity could have cost us dearly, ie hearts away and the league cup final in which inspired resillient performances from his team mates bailed him out. he quite rightly pointed out how embarrased he was to go and lift the league cup. say what you like about mcculloch but you know what? he does the exact same as thomson, gets his foot in and arguably protects the back four better. plus jig makes more intelligent fouls, he rarely gets booked just cause of a rush of blood to the head, but to stop threatening attacks from evolving into a chance. edu needs to get a chance, if he was given a full run in the team i believe he would produece goals aswell as the required energy levels to dominate most teams. and davis does not need any hyping up, he will florish infield. now i do agree with the concern that this is a sneaky firesale by the club, but we do not have a clue about this yet. walter may believe he can get the like of eagles and maybe a gomis or mcarthur for the thomson money, we dont know. all i would say is lets wait and see. i will ferociously join all of your complaints if we get to aug 31st and we are in anywhere near the same shape of squad. but as for thomson, he was inconsistent, quite often injured or a liability and never ever fully justified his purchase. like charlie, we could all see a player, he could simply never consistently prove it with us. good luck to him.

  5. why do people on here comment on posts just to make an arsey comment?? if ya aint interested dont say anything numbnuts. usually it has been a chance to see new signings (ie chelsea and ajax 3 years back when we had a whole new team), see quality opposition (ie chelsea again, arsenal, man city) or simply as you put it, a piss up with your mates supporting the team you love in what is usually some of the most energised and loud atmospheres of the season (as anyone who was at pompy last summer will testify). though i suppose this goes out the window if you have no mates.
  6. I went to The Emirates, Portsmouth and the home match against Man City last summer and despite them being friendlies thought the atmosphere and the away days out were tremendous. Looking to do much the same this summer; I have heard all the rumoured fixtures, Wembley Cup, Birmingham away, Spurs at home but does anyone know how close these rumours are? also, for the wembley cup, i hear chelsea, a spanish side and someone else? anyone know any more??? cheers guys watp
  7. I know this is no new or outlandish statement but i am absolutely furious how everytime we enjoy some success over the past 2 years it is literally a matter of hours before some doomsday theory comes out. The team has done fantastically well to win two league titles under the current circumstances but instead of a week of press coverage praising walter and the troops, we have yet another NEW fucking story about how shockingly run the club has been under SDM. I seriously doubt anyone on this or any other forum can come out with any calming explanation for what is going on but we are now being investigated for something which has seen portsmouth hit the wall and west ham getting close to the same thing before being saved by two fans. noone can categorically claim we are safe or not. why the fuck do the club continue with these bollocks statements not telling a sole anything useful and leaving us continually making up our own stories. meanwhile lloyds are using us like the glaziers are using man utd and shockingly enough after taking control of us are now a profit making machine again. they will keep a hold of us for as long a possible for this very reason and this newly cited piece of moronic decision making by SDM to allow this player payment scheme has every chance of keeping us run by the bank, being squeezed and downsized for years to come.
  8. i agree with the general opinions posted so far but dont agree with the importance of little's goal v hearts. celtic still went on the close the gap the next day and the extra point has not proved entirely significant as we would still be 10 clear right now and the league would still be done. miller 2nd v celtic, edu v celtic, mcculloch v celtic, novo v hamilton and boyd v hearts for me.
  9. i made a horror trip to perth last night of missed buses, last minute boozeless trains etc and was then served up the worst gers defeat i have ever witnessed. but in the end on the way home i shared a few beers and some laughs at how the result nearly made me depressed. here we are, with a team of average players, no cash and no one wanting to own us... but we are still 10 clear with a home game in hand, have hamilton at home on saturday, have a fantastic cup victory in our bag already and almost best of all, the timmy in a complete riotess mess over at paedohead. last night was tough, we didnt play well but 4-1 was not anywhere near a reflection of that game. one arse winder that cillian murphy mctaig sheridan will never score again (guaraneteed) and TWO awful deflections put us in a position in an already difficult away game were there tails were up and we were chasing it. had they not got their second ridiculous deflection of the match i am positive the boys would have at least got a draw. so everyone, cheer the fuck up!!! if we lose the next two games and the tims win in scumburgh, then start to wet yourself a little! WATP
  10. just want to state that we as supporters, whilst enjoying the good run we are on at the moment and the cup final to come, must remember to stay positive and behind the team when an inevitable poor result arrives. we have some massive games coming up in saturdays cup tie, motherwell at bog park, hibs and timmy. if we win all those games, even i will start buying into this 'the league is done' nonesense being spouted in the media. i just know how quickly we can turn, take hearts at ibrox for example. there was such an air of aggression toward a team battered by injuries and including some inexperienced young guys trying there best. we have to allow them a slip up when it arrives and just make sure that they know we are still 110% behind them to go for this title. i thought i would never tressure a league like last years as i cant imagine how much it has saved us, but to win this one with no money and a squad who offer little in quality at times but so much heart and desire to do well for this club that every one of them is considered some form of legend in my eyes. anyway, WATP and we are the champions! let bring it home again!!
  11. i dont doubt for a minute that the guys with the info often get a lot right but sometimes rumours and hype are just that, nothing else. in the end, the club have now stated they dont expect anyone and confirmed that poulsen aint happening. thats not to say they arent desperately looking, but they wont risk another rothen. i wont get excited about any rumours until we are not rooked.
  12. mcgregor whittaker wilson weir papac davis thomson fleck miller boyd lafferty OR mcgregor whitaker weir papac smith novo davis thomson naismith boyd miller it will be no different from either of these sides i guarentee... even wilson in the first team is a massive doubt. mccullouch will play again, him and the big slow-mo getting the run around from riordan benji zemmama stokes nish miller and co. i see 2-0 hibs, possibly worse depending on when the goals go in.
  13. i am looking for an up to date record of walter smith in old firm games as manager combining both his previous and current spell at the club. i know there are a few good sources you boys use on here and would really appreciate the help if anyone knows the exact figures. just like PLAYED, WON, DRAWN, LOST... cheers guys
  14. one of the many times we won the title when mark hateley was at the club, he celebrated at ibrox with his son on his shoulders. i am positive these celebrations were on one of the season review tapes/dvds, does anyone remember what year it was. tester for the old memories glands this! if you cant be arsed then feel free to give this thread a bum steer! if you know, please say!
  15. superb guys thanks! much appreciated! true stato's indeed!
  16. looking to find out any games were MARK HATELEY scored against MOTHERWELL throughout his rangers career? any match, any goal will do - if you can state the season as well it would be great! if you can be arsed, please give me a shout.
  17. what is everyone raving about aaron for!??? he has had a stinking preseason whenever he has got on and naisy has done really well. not contest.
  18. was at a question and answer session with andy goram and arthur numan about 3 years ago and managed to ask goram about the whole thing. nothing happened. it was a squash ball and goram said that in training after the accident, his accuracy was way off. said it was a real shame but that people should never believe hear'say rumours. end of.
  19. The idea of keeping it and giving it someone for 20 quid a game or whatever is a pretty good one. I cant afford to have a season ticket this year, not merely for financial reasons but also because I am going into 3rd years honours and uni so need to study, do coursework at weekends as well as one shift at work. However obviously there are some I could go to so just go to a few games as and when I can. I am sure there are others like me out there. thanks guys. i take your advice on board and will consider this when deciding what route to take. the ticket office have just informed me that i can cancel and get a full refund for £20 if necessary so that is at least a bit of a relief. turns out the guy i got on the phone was a rather friendly chap, did ask that they would require something in writing though which you just know means the whole process will take around a year to complete! hopefully i dont have to, but it is looking more likely by the minute. cheers guys. admin, feel free to close this thread now.
  20. i know mate. but its just i would like to go in with some ammunition, know what i mean? they are complete pricks at the ticket office and i just want to at least sound as if i konw what i am talking about if i start getting some arrogant shite off them
  21. Having to face the possibility of cancelling my season ticket for this season as i may be working almost every weekend for the entire football season. i will find out in the next week or so but i was wondering if any of you know what the situation is with regards to cancelling tickets in the middle of the direct debit period with regards to getting money back. i know after the kaunas cuellar fiasco last year that the opportunity to csncel season books for a £20 admin fee was offered and i am just wondering if this was a one off opportunity or whether it is permanent policy when canceling season tickets. if any of the admin chaps or anyone who knows for sure could let me kno, this would be hugely appreciated. truly a very sad day for me to even be talking about this.
  22. i was excited when we brought in le guen with the promise of flowing attacking football. then i realised it does fuck all to guarentee success. i trust a management team that has delivered us two seasons where we havent missed the last day of any competition we have been involved in. i welcome mowbray and his 'free flowing' football. brown still cant pass, crosas still cant tackle, mcgeady still cant cross, mcmanus still cant defend and samaras still cant score. we are being realistic. if they want to break the bank to bring in averageness like fortune after splashing out to get a gaffer, let them. in 3 years time they will be right where we are now. i was pissed off at the world during the season too. i screamed for investment and all that unrealistic shite after the inverness game same as anyone. but you know what, we are champions and that is all i give a fuck about. wouldnt surprise me if we are just bluffing celtic out, make them show their hand first. let them make the first move. cos they know as well as we do that noone (not even them and their bullshit pr machine) can afford another huge financial fuck up like gravesen and balde again. long live the champions! we shall not be moved
