Graeme Souness to ITV on the own-goal which gave Croatia the lead:
"The passback was quite fierce and the ball was spinning. He took his eye off the ball...but every professional footballer has done it."
What ever happened to the golden rule we were taught as youngsters to never ever pass the ball back to your goalie straight at the goal , always to the side of the goal and things like that won't happen.
I always loved I'd rather be a darkie than a tim with the hula hula at the end of it.
I think that was first sung at a game at the girodome back in the early 70's.
Games over now but it hinged on that missed chance by Mallin.
He puts that in I'd say the Dutch win this comfortably.
The Czechs are well organized and worth the lead in the 2nd half though.
Looking in from afar , and I know most of you live there and can see it for yourselves , but until the Country stops hating itself nothing will change,,,absolutely nothing.
Totally agree SB. I listened to these phone ins after Scotland got knocked out against the Croats and not one person phoned in and asked why can't we produce players that can bring a ball under control surrounded by up to 3 players comfortably , not look like they're going to lose it and find one of they're own players with a pass.
I listened to so called pundits say this guy was "brilliant" and that guy was "brilliant".
Utter tripe yet so typically Scottish. Overrating ordinary talent.
Gilmour can do it , Barry Ferguson could do it and so could Souness.
That's 3 generations FFS.
Simply not good enough
