Inspired by Boyd, but about the fans

Some things from the "do you agree/disagree" thread

I think the whole discussion is symptomatic of fans desperate to find a negative in everything, rather than appreciating any positives, yet in the main, this only applies to certain players, which in itself implies personal agendas.

Most fans of most teams, with a player who scored so many goals would tend to go along the lines of, "so what if he doesnt do x or y, look at his goals, what an asset to have" (to paraphrase/generalise), and, who wasnt thinking that in the 90th minute against Hearts?

It happens with McGregor, a number of match winning saves, yet, most are eager to find other faults to pull him down.

Adam and Ferguson, combine them and the games they play are so similar to what Mendes offers, yet, they are slated for those things, Mendes is applauded (No, I am not saying they are better btw)

Davis is hugely inconsistent, yet, given so much leeway its scarey at times, yet, this season, we have McCulloch, who has been almost the embodiment of consistant that people still want to go.

On the flip side, guys like Sebo?? Backed and supported to the hilt. Papac is the prime example of average, get, praised and all flaws (generally) overlooked. Miller is an ok striker, probably better as a wider forward, but, not a "finisher" which is what really should be expected of a striker.

I know the intention behind it, but, we already have a "What NOT to expect from Rothen" thread, which, personally, I would have worded what we CAN, but, never mind.

Can we actually, as a collective, enjoy something about ourselves?

It seems, players like Boyd and McGreger (for example) excel at certain parts of their game, specialists if you like, so, why do we not appreciate that, and, accentuate that aspect, rather than celebrate the mediocrity, and, why are some players exempt from this? That in itself shows we CAN be positive about players regardless of performances.

I find it all a bit confusing.

I often like to revel in how absolutely sublime Steven Davis is.

Can we all agree on that?

:anguish: You're slagging my Rothen thread. I was doing that so people don't treat him like they did with Beasley! As I said, Rangers fans have some weird pre-made idea that every single player described as a winger must be the new Laudrup.

Aye but he's inconsistent, and doesn't turn up at all some games :craphead:

To be honest, if you really wanted to you could probably pick holes in any of our players game, and sit and repeat it to death on here, and it'll catch on.

Boyds in the spotlight alot, being top goal scorer, and in the papers, that people must think :anguish: and then sit and pull apart his game to the death, like the OP said, rather than appreciating what he CAN do.

We should add together all the 'CAN' do's and build a bloody decent unbeatable team.

Absolutely, at times he is great. I think people sometimes forget his age. He seems older!

Nah, I didnt matey, thats why I said I knew its intent, but, the title did fit within the realms of what I was talking about... I think ;)

They do, thats true, and, tend to turn on them really quickly. Its as if they never saw the youtubes showing the type of players they are

I agree. Boyd scores goals so i wish people would get off his back. I like the bit about other clubs and strikers. If a striker scores goals then he is doing his job. Someone even went on to say in the other thread that you couldnt play him at centre midfield. why the fuck would u? lol. there are some fans on here who dont have a clue and need to get a grip.

(tu) like your thread btw.

Spoke to a bluenose m8 of mine last night who called him 'Jeremy Rotten'. And no, he wasn't fishing.

Looks like Mr Rothen has a minority who will give him abuse from the off.

If we did that, perhaps we would stop viewing teams like Falkirk and Motherwell as "hard games"
