Players leaving convenient scapegoats?

Recommended Posts

A lot of bears are up in arms about the players who are jumping ship, but in reality is CG that bothered?

Either way you cut it, we'll be in SPL with heavy sanctions, div 1/spl 2 with sanctions or div 3. We have no opportunity for europe for 3 seasons either. So if these players did transfer their contracts presumably they'd be on the same wages and how on earth can we afford that for the next few years?

As for them coming across and being sold to give the club money, bottom line is no club would pay top dollar for them, it would be bargain basement time because they know Rangers aren't in a position to negotiate. The players let's face it are thick as pig shit, and they hire agents to look after them and the agents will be telling them there's no value in getting transfered for 100k and no gaurentee that a club you'd want to play for would even come in for you. As free agents they can tart themselves about and get the deal that's best for them, end up at a bigger club by going on trial or something.

We were told to balence the books that Rangers needed to save 1 million a month which came majority from the players wage cuts. Do we really believe CG wants to pay and honour existing contracts out of his own pocket when the clubs revenue streams are all cut off?

Yes because no cunt would pay decent money for McGregor, Naismith or Davis  . . . . fuckin behave yersel

Under normal circumstances you'd get a good few million for them. But ultimately any team coming to buy them will offer way below the asking price because the state the club is in.

A couple of million for them is better than nothing they where well looked after at Rangers.

For so called Rangers men they put their bank account before the club at a time when we are at our most vulnerable they are no friends of Rangers.

you do know how the transfer market works don't you?

so you are saying someone could offer pennies for McGregor and we would accept?

i'll tell you what would happen, another club would see the shite offer & then bid more, then another club and so on . . . & would probably probably stop near the market value.

AND THEN WE WOULD GET THE MONEY THESE RATS HAVE DEPRIVED OUR CLUB OF!

Don't know if you have noticed lately but they are still throwing money about down south like there's no tomorrow.

You say that but ultimately they do what their agents tell them to do. Their agents would have told them to get the fuck out of dodge.

Were the players themselves not saying no one from the club contacted them regarding their future? They are off the wage bill now and would we even have been able to sell them on using sevco?

You can't blame the players for doing what's right for them, they never asked for any of this either.

The agents are not in charge, the players are. An agent can offer advice, but FFs these are grown men who make their own decisions.

No one made them walk away from the club.

They have done it purely for financial gain. If they transferred over, rangers would of got a fee for them. Yeah, not full market value because of their release clauses, but every penny counts.

Losing them from the wage bill is no bad thing as ultimately most of them would of gone anyway.

The most annoying thing is the young players leaving. They were guaranteed to be playing week after week for rangers, something they have waited so long for.

It is all about money pure and simple

Even if we got 50k for Whittaker it would still have been better thanfuck all

Yeah not disputing that, but if you are Whittakers agent what are you telling him to do? 'Aye just get sold for 50k I'll quite happily take 10% and make myself a whopping 5 grand'.

Its not in the players best interests to be sold under value and I doubt CG was all that interested in paying pre-admin rate wages to them either.

Perhaps I'm too cynical but there is another way of looking at the whole thing. They all had clauses in their contracts that would have allowed them to leave for well under market value, and although the Club would have got money for them if they had transferred over to the new ownership structure. We would have to have paid them until a sale went through, then there would have been agents fees and other expenses to come off whatever fee was agreed and the buying clubs might have wanted to pay by installments, so the Club may not have got all that much in immediately for them. Despite protestations to the contrary the Club may not been too unhappy to see them go. Especially if it meant that we didn't need to pay them salaries for June.
