Rangers vs Inverness Caley Thistle at Ibrox Stadium , Saturday November1, 2008. Kick-Off 3:00 PM. SPL Game #10.

Rangers trail Celtic by 3 points at the top of the SPL having played one game less and taken 22 points from 9 games.

Rangers have a goal difference of +11 compared to +14 for Celtic.

Celtic are away to 5th placed Hearts and do not play until the next day. It is a chance to put Celtic under pressure.

Walter will have a big pool of players to choose from as most are now available for selection including Ferguson, Whittaker, McCulloch and probably Burke too.

Steven Smith is not quite ready, but Miller and Thomson may well be ready to return. Naismith is our one long term in jury for now.

It is likely that there will not be many changes except that Barry Ferguson will return to captain the side. This gives Walter a big selection headache. Who does he leave out in a midfield that has been quite strong and effective. Does he rotate his midfield? Play one up front? We need width, but will he keep Davis, Mendes and Thomson/Edu and add Barry but sacrifice width?

It is hard to tell. If he adds Barry, he may just drop Papac and play Broadfoot and Whittaker as attacking fullbacks. Then again Papac has been much more attacking recently.

If he goes for width then who drops out? The favourite would be Thomson/Edu, but Walter may want to have a defensive midfielder. Then could it be Davis?

If he adds Barry and goes with one striker, then who? K Miller would be the favourite, but Boyd has been outstanding recently.

He will have a lot of unhappy faces quite soon. Loads of bench-warmers.

My guess is that Ferguson will replace Thomson/Edu and that Lafferty will play on the left side with Boyd and Miller up front, but that is by no means certain.

Team: McGregor, Broadfoot, Bougherra, Weir, Papac, Davis, Ferguson, Mendes, Lafferty, Miller and Boyd.

Prediction: Rangers 4 - 1 Inverness Caley Thistle

Scorers: Boyd 2, Novo (Sub), Mendes.

I think the problems will arise when we play teams who then stifle the middle of the park. If we have no natural width we are going to struggle to stretch the game. I think this will be ok for the majority of games and particularly thise we play at home but might struggle a bit with Cellic, sheep etc

a wud say ur teams pretty much spot on although a still dont think fergie shud be startin wen hes only played in 2 reserve games.

Prediction: Rangers 2-0 Caley

Scorers: Boyd, Lafferty
