RFC55 108,906
yes if you lay them to win it, it means your backing them not to win it
Scott-RFC 308
So how would you set the bet up? What would be your stake/return?
Guest SandyIniesta-Nordahl
I dontCould you lay a team to win the world cup?Laying is when you say a selection of some sort won't win something, instead of backing it to win.
RFC55 108,906
So how would you set the bet up? What would be your stake/return?I dont use it much mate, but as your backing against other punters it will be likePunter A offers 2/1 on brazil to not win the WCyou : want to stake £100 pounds on this happeninghowever punter A only has a betfair/ bank balance of £80 meaning you could only stake £30 on it
mrwin 393
If you dont think Brazil will win then offer a price of 5/1,you will need to put up £100 to cover bet incase you are wrong !!!

Whats the point in the pink lay column?
tommy2212 151
Betfair bump you with their commission charges IMO. The blue column works the same as any other bookie, the pink column is when you become the bookie. Its when you think a result wont happen. now i want to win 10 quid, i think Portugal wont win10 quid on, but if Portugal do win i lose £4.20you can reduce your ''liability'' how much you lose by determing your own odds ''backers odds'' but to do this you need a punter '' someone who picks the blue column'' to match your bet. There is a thread on Punterslounge called ''slow drip feed'' i think its in the tactics area. Its extremely good reading and for me the only real way to use the ''lay'' by laying agaisnt the correct scores in games.

Briton 394
I mainly use an exchange for online betting, be mad not to with the better prices. The exception being when I'm doing bookie offers. Currently using Betdaq as they have given me a 2% commission rate for a couple of months but I prefer Betfair simply because there's always more liquidity.
