  1. Jack Thomson is equally comfortable in centre defence of in midfield, he is injured at the momemnt so has missed these pre-season games. Still U17 but like Zak Rudden would probably have played in the 20's games.
  2. Report on tonight's 17's game against Thistle https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2016/07/14/17s-overcome-thistle/
  3. Billy Kirkwood was in charge with David McCallum, interviews have been taking place so a new coach should be announced soon. Ross Lyon is a good player and is equally comfortable at full back or midfield. We only have TWO under 20 players, Ryan Hardie and Jordan Thompson, so the U20's will be made up of 17 and 18 year olds. Someone will take a big step forward, last season that was Liam Burt, along with Ross McCrorie and Ross Lyon he is most likely to step up. Grant Nelson had a great start to last season then suffered a bad leg break, hopefully he can pick up where he left off when he is back playing. All just my opinions of course.
  4. Got some info on the trialists from the weekend but I have been asked not to publish them. Ross Lyon has always alternated between right back and midfield, seems to be going through a right back spell at the moment. Neither Ross McCrorie or Liam Burt were involved tonight, possibly in the first team squad for the weekend. It doesn't appear so, none of them have featured in the two games so far. Only players signed are at younger age groups, 3 at U15 and 1 at U13 that I know of.
  5. He did play left back, I believe is from Boys Club football in NE of England

  7. Got some info on the trialists but was asked not to publish details in my reports
  8. Trialist Number 4 scored 1 in 20's game A different Trialist Number 4 scored 1 in 17's game
  9. Reports on the 20's and 17's opening pre-season games https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2016/07/09/easy-pre-season-wins-for-youth-sides/
  10. This season's Under 20's will be made up of 17 and 18 year olds, A consequence of the Sinclair years has left us with only TWO under 20 players on our books, Ryan Hardie, the only one to come through the system and Jordan Thompson. A few decent prospects but this season will be about gaining experience at Under 20.
  11. Report on tonight's 17's game https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2016/05/10/young-17s-side-beat-motherwell/
  12. Reports on the weekend's "Play On The Pitch" events https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2016/05/09/youths-play-on-the-pitch-events/
  13. IT seems to be those that are surprised that Lang and McLeod are being released never actually seen them. Anyone that watched them in the development league games would not be surprised.
  14. Of all the youth players that have been released only a slight surprise about Luca, but as I have said on here before, he is six months older than Dominic Ball who is on a different level. I would have been surprised if any of the others were offered contracts to be honest. McLeod looked good as a trialist against a very poor Airdrie side, game finished 9-0. Once signed he did less and less each game, getting substituted earlier each game, until he was eventually not even starting. As it stands, next season will start with only two under 20's on the books, Ryan Hardie and Jordan Thompson. Therefore the Development side will be made up of Under 18 and Under 19 players.
  15. The following are confirmed, there are others but these I'm 100% sure of 17's players Kieran Balfour and Premyslaw Dachowicz Older youth players Luca Gasparotto, Dylan Dykes, David Brownlie, Tom Lang and Mekhi McLeod
  16. From the 17's only Kieran Balfour and Premyslaw Daschowitz have been released. older youth players released Luca Gasparotto, Dylan Dykes, Tom Lang, David Brownlie, Mehki McLeod, there will be others that is just the ones I'm 100% sure of. Third trialist last night was Ewan McPherson from Queen's Park, son of Gus McPherson

  18. Report on tonight's final Development league game https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2016/04/29/development-league-closes-with-a-draw/
  19. Blog started in 2008, I have been watching youths a lot longer than that. Top three ? Off the top of my head Ian Durrant who played in first youth cup final Darren Fletcher who played with Rangers at younger age groups but chose Man Utd at 16 Barry Ferguson who I first saw at 13 in a cup final for Rangers SABC
  20. The blog started in October 2008, it has no official connection with the club. I felt it filled a gap in reporting on youth games.
