  1. I watched the game and he looked ok, I think that for free he will be a decent signing, I hope that he can make the step up and play a part next season, he could prove to be a good foil for Boyd but ultimately if we want to push Celtic for the league and make an impression in the CL, we need to bring in a quality European striker, I actually hope that Prso doesnt continue next season he has been a real leader for us and brought a touch of class in many big games but I think his body is telling him something and he should call it a day, also if he stays another season then it gives Murray an excuse for not shelling out on a proper replacement.
  2. As Walter said, its not the numbers but the limited options and without Fergie and Svensson that really restricts us, I would probably go for the following ---------McGregor------------- Hutton---Weir---Hemdani---Murray Burke-----Rae----N'Daiye------Adam ------------Prso---Sebo--------- I think the time is right for Sebo to make or break himself.... I think we need to attack them from the first whistle with high tempo and energy and Sebo gives us that...if he scored then that could just set him off...would be a big gamble... but I dont think Hapoel will really pressure us much in the first half so if it doesnt work then we can hook Sebo for Boyd at half time
  3. I dont think we would generate anything like the revenue Arsenal got (dont think it was 100M though) maybe if we can get ourselves consistently in the CL group and last 16 then it might attract some corporate interest but If it was upto me I wouldnt sell out the great name of Ibrox...I know football is business these days but (to quote a major Credit Card) there are some things money cant buy !!
  4. As IbroxBlue mentioned its a separate youth company owned by Rangers which has its own P&L and uses all funds generated by youth to maintain itself, I think I even read somewhere that any player that makes it into the first team (Stevie Smith being one recent example) then the youth company receives some renumeration from Rangers, but dont quote me on that I read Walters article about the state of the youth setup and I have to admit it makes me mad.... I mean why invest 15M in a state of the art set of training pitches and facilities if you dont plan to maximise its potential, I blame Murray and Mcleish, I think had Advocaat stayed long enough he would have setup a proper system, but from the moment Mcleish arrived he started looking for the quick fix so in come players like Capucho, Ostenstadt, Mladenovic etc if I were Murray should have told Mcleish in no uncertain terms that he had better start using it as we are not shelling out on foreign mercenaries
  5. I reckon we will see him towards end of March, I was surprised to hear about the operation... I guess it must have been blessed by Wigan as they still own him.. and I agree we should be cautious if he doesnt prove his fitness this season, its amazing of all Walters signings the most consistent has been so called "pensioner" Weir... just shows you how age is nothing these days if you look after yourself...
  6. I would like to think that next season will see us back to where we belong but realistically I think the best we can hope for is CL group stages and a strong maintained challenge to Celtic, I also dont see us splashing enough cash around in summer to really add significant quality in depth, Brown would be a good addition but Gow, Mcdonald, McCulloch...these are not guys who are going to be able to get goals against CL quality teams.... maybe there might be one or 2 quality Bosman signings but realistically most of the top players will have already signed pre-contract agreements. We will also no doubt this summer end up paying out more severance packages to guys like Papac and maybe even Sebo, Where I think we will see major improvement is in consistency, Walter has sorted out the defence already (Hapoel game aside) and that will improve next season. our midfield (assuming we get Brown) would be a match for any decent opposition I would like to see someone come in on the left to pressure Adam but its up front where I think we need to spend serious money, Boyd can deal with the SPL..if he would just score against Celtic...but in Europe he has looked out of his depth...Prso has the quality but just not the physical ability to do it so I would like to see us go for some quality striker who can get the big goals in CL... I would also like to see us have some decent preseason tour...Far East, US or maybe even Australia we need to market ourselves like Celtic is doing, maybe we can even sign a decent Chinese, Korean or Japanese player...
  7. Boyd is definitely a valuable player, of that there is no question, the bigger issue I see is that we cant afford to carry him on the expectation he will score a goal and contribute nothing else, in the old 9 in a row team Boyd would have broken all scoring records as there were 10 other players with enough graft and invention to constantly put chances on a plate for him, right now we dont have that luxury so in games like we just saw when there is no service he gets exposed for his lack of workrate
