  1. Gio Van B anyone..... Laudrup went to Chelsea but that was in the pre Roman era but they were still a pretty good team
  2. To be honest I have no sympathy for Rangers in this.... they decided to put profit before people and I hope that those workers get due compensation, I really dont ever remember reading that there was any serious attempt to get these workers placed in other jobs with JJB, but I dont have all the facts so I wont pass judgement on that aspect but if there claim is upheld then fair play to them (although I hope it doesnt dent Walters kitty too much!!)
  3. I really wonder what the point of that article was..... so what... a mediocre (at best) player that was injured wont play again this season....FFS are we that short of news on football.... I looked just now and its still one of the headline articles on the BBC football site maybe its some kind of signal from Walter to other clubs to tell them to hold off on bids until preseason starts <_<
  4. Agreed....good call on Bolo.... I am a closet Pool supporter.....used to go to a few games a season until I moved abroad, I still have a subscription to LiverpoolFC TV..... have watched Zenden and I think he could be a big player for us, he has the quality and the versatility which not many players have you have to wonder whether managers scour the same info we can get on the web regarding potential bosman signings
  5. I would be surprised if its more than 4M net.... bear in mind we will probably get 1-1.5M for Buffel plus maybe a tenner for Sebo so that would mean we would spend somewhere in the region of 5-5.5M, we will have some scope in terms of wages with Prso and Klos leaving so that may allow us some more expensive Bosman types.....but in all honesty I am not expecting anything much in terms of major signings....the whole Brown thing looks like just what it was...smoke and mirrors
  6. Just watching the Villa game and noticed Bardsley..... I personally think he did pretty well during his short stint well would be good competition on the right....god knows we need some there... Does anyone think he would consider coming back... I read that Villa are looking to bid 1.5M.... not out of our price bracket.....or has the whole PLG Buffel tackle incident put him right off, he seems to me to be the kind of player that Walter would like
  7. Today was definetely an off day....games after international breaks usually end up with some poor tired looking performances, but I wouldnt to say we are no better off than we were under PLG....look how many clean sheets we have kept 7 out of 9 I think (Europe aside) we are not losing games, we are not calamitous in defence and (other than today) we are not shipping soft goals so I think we are a dam sight better than we were in the early part of the season
  8. Ayrshire-Loyal....which part of glorious Ayrshire are you from.... I grew up in Ardrossan...whitlees court...the posh part....across the burn fae Elm Park where the kerb stones were painted red white and blue and various slogans relating to the Pope would adorn the roads
  9. What do you mean we have no assets..... we have plenty of assets, We just bought Thomson for2M and his value will only increase, Hemdani who at todays prices should be min 2M, Smith who I think is going to make the left back slot his own for the forseeable future could also be worth alot of money, Mcgregor who could also be a great keeper, and is only young, Burke if he starts to play regularly like he did against Hapoel then we will also see his value rise, Svensson if he gets the proper education could also be worth a lot in the next year or 2, we also have wantaways like Buffel who should bring in 1.5M or so, just because there arent any Daily rebel stories linking our players with moves to AC Milan doesnt mean we dont have a bunch of players that are worth decent money Not to mention some of the youngsters like Furman Fleck Shinnie Lowing etc.... if they continue to progress like they have been then who knows what value could be placed on them
  10. what I dont get is where this rumour started from..... have we even had this guy watched??? All I see is some media story which was followed up by the usual "its the only club I ever wanted to play for and I supported as a boy" shite from the player himself.... all he is interested in is a decent pay day.... I am sure Dado has had a word or 2 about us with him but other than that I see no noises coming from Ibrox.... IMO this is just another red top rag transfer story
  11. I thought he was going to be a decent signing..... but yet another player we signed who ended up spending most of his time injured.... can there be a club anywhere who has had even close to the number of long term injuries that we have had  Wish him all the best but as DM said... the only way for most players that leave is down....
  12. Its good that we are brining Chester back as he is a highly rated and respected scout, makes you wonder though why in a club our size (even with financial difficulties) that we would consider scouting as an area to be cut.... Anyway its good that we are rectifying the problem and I hope that we will be able to find a few young talented players to take the space of Lowing, Furman Shinnie, Fleck and Co who should soon be moving into the first team :pipeguy:
  13. Saw a BBC article where Collins stated he will be leaving so maybe a deal has been done, I would personally not like to see us spend most of our budget in an area we already have some quality in depth, especially with guys like Furman doing so well in the reserves
  14. I'll chip in 30quid for his flight back to Czech Republic......total waste of space... maybe he should be asking himself why he isnt getting a game, we are even playing Novo out wide who isnt a winger rather than have this imposter.....
  15. of the 2 Barrys that we regularly see Barry#1 - the one who played in the advanced role, making late runs in the box and grabbing goals....we definitely missed that one Barry#2 - the one who is all over the pitch taking the ball off defenders and trying to do everything....that Barry wouldnt have helped last night
  16. only way to be sure is for UEFA to check the official referees report for all games....they do receive it anyway so that should clear things up!
  17. Sebo seemed to have a decent strike rate recently for the national side so he has the ability to score goals.....If I were WS I would be watching tapes of those games to see how and where he played and also how they setup their side that allowed him to get those goals.....maybe its something simple like he needs to play off a second striker for knockdowns or something....
  18. Thats it in a nutshell....the guy wasnt and still isnt a full back....
  19. Knowing WS he will probably setup the team to make sure we dont lose the game, I would be surprised if he continues with 1 up front as Boyd or Sebo will get no change out of Anderson so there needs to be someone else up there to make space....
  20. I think we may need seeding and a bit of luck to get through the CL qualifiers, there are a bunch of good teams that are in the pot added to the fact that if we do end up rebuilding significantly then not the ideal way to bed in a new team with a couple of must win European games....
  21. We werent at our best, but kudos to Osasuna for not letting us get into the game both home and away, we have to remember that this is a team that has been systematically asset stripped to the bare bones since Advocaat left and whats left isnt going to get us to the later stages of any European competition, last season was a brief moment of planetary alignment where we punched above our weight to get to the last 16, but unless something drastic happens during the summer I dont see us doing much better next season, CL group stages has to be our main aim
  22. Agreed....hes an old fashioned win it and hoof it type.... listening to the game I heard several mentions of his slack passing out of defence which put Hutton under pressure and gave up possession
  23. Dont think its about whether we give Weir another contract, I think its more about whether he wants to stay another season, I am sure I read when he signed that it was definitely only until the end of the season, as his family are still living on Merseyside.... but maybe 6 months playing for his boyhood club has changed his mind... personally I would love to see him go one more season...without a doubt he is the main reason we havent lost an SPL game since WS took over
  24. been our most consistent performer this season, even under PLG, he was shifted around from centre back to midfield and did well in both areas, considering he had Svensson next to him.... I think he will leave in the summer, some of the stuff he came out with in the papers tells me that he still holds a grudge about the whole PLG thing....would be a shame if he did go.....as I think he loves the club....
  25. We already have an insight into the players we will be going for in the summer, some we already have on precontract, the others like McCulloch, McDonald, Brown, Langfield are not going to get us into the last 8 of the CL, as long as we can make the CL group that should do for now, as it will gaurantee us an additional 8-10M which can be used in Jan or season after next to get one or 2 bigger name signings to push on in the CL I have no doubt we will be pushing all the way in the SPL, with a couple of OF games like yesterday then we may well win it but its too early to say... the future does look brighter though...
