  1. addendum to my last reply - my new most under-rated player is Kevin Drinkell - wasnt fast, wasnt overly skillful, wasnt superb in the air, but worked his socks off in every single game he played for us and was a very effective player for us.
  2. If PLG would go for it, id go for the English connection - Woods, Butcher, Wilkins and Drinkell. They all know about success at this club, all have talked about what this club meant to them and all had success through hard work - Drinkell in particular could teach the young guys about doing the most with what little ability you got
  3. Over-rated - John Spencer - was always being held as the great new star, similar to how young Fleck is now. I hope Fleck turns out much better than Spencer did Under-rated - I always liked the guy and thought he never got any credit - Erik Bo Andersen - had a fantastic strike rate but for some reason never caught on.
  4. Good enough to stay McGregor Hutton (Squad player still young enough to mature into starter) Smith (same) Svensson (future Gers captain) Clement (VERY impressed with him Hemdani (versatile squad player) Fergie (good for 3 more years) Adam (same as smith and Hutton) Burke (if he can stay uinjury free, can be outstanding) Ian Murray for bench purposes, is the true versatiel player, can be average in many different positions The rest I would try to turf for whatever I could get though id keep Sebo for a couple of more years to see what we can turn him into
  5. Greengrass I think the question also asked for an old Firm game that your side didn't win. Now, when i read that I thought to myself, there is no way the Celtic fans on here will even acknowledge that they have never lost an old Firm game Seems I was right.
  6. the 2-2 game at ibrox where Butchers, Roberts and the other guy got sent off. Never been so pleased at a game as when Goughy poked the equalizer in
  7. For me it has to be Leeds 1 Gers 2 and listening to Ron Atkinson gush about wee Durranty as he ran the show
  8. IMO Smith was not at fault for the goal. The Celtic player in front of goal was unmarked and Smith had to come off his man to try to pick him up. And anyway, if Alan had been decisive and punched that ball we would not be talking about Smiths positioning
  9. Ok - speaking as an ex-goalie here is how it goes. Some people think you have to catch the ball at all times, others prepare to punch However, the answer is, it doesnt matter! That's right. The most important thing is that you make your decision instantly and are decisive in executing it. To me, on Sunday, Alan was kind of caught between two stools and looked to be be tentative in both coming to a decision and then carrying it out. Thus, he ended up a yard and a half late to the party.
  10. RFC2006 - Im not suggesting dropping Boyd simply to boost Sebo's confidence. The main reason is to get this team playing to its potential. I like the way we played first couple of games this season and also the way we played the last few games. Personally, I would sell the guy now if we got 2-3 mill for him but if we didn't, he would not be near a starting place until he had embraced the team concept and woven himself into our style of play. Not asking him to be Zidane, but this season especially, having him in our starting lineup is hurting us right now. People talk about hsi goals last season? yes, we were a long ball team last year, and Boyd was making a living of flick ons and the like. Now, we are trying to play football on the deck and unless he makes huge strides, I cannot see him fitting into our style of play.
  11. I am far from convinced about Sebo but am willing to give him a chance. And to be fair to him, he does work is you know what off to play a part in our build ups. Ok, he has the touch of an elephant.....
  12. Boyd will get you 20-30 goals, but he will cost you much more than that. Because he plays little no no role when he does not have the ball in the box, we will suffer in that more of our build up will break down and other teams will be able to hit us on the break time and time again. Whilst not all of these breaks account for scoring chances, they do lead to free kicks being given away, corners conceded, needless bookings by our back line, which in turn can lead to timid challenges late in games. Also, makes it harder to hold onto leads when you are effectively a man short - you defend leads by keeping possession The uneducated will look at some games and excuse Boyd, well, he scored a goal so he is blameless. or When he doesnt score, it is because he isnt getting service, some say. Yet, a good striker will be involved in these moves early and be able to keep possession, leading to more and better scoring chances later in the move. Sorry guys but if the decision was mine, Boyd would stay on the bench until either, a) he worked his butt off in training and improved his all around game substantially or B) we received a good offer for him
  13. Have to respectively disagree there. I dont care that he is a goalscorer, his overall contribution is awful. If we had a fantastic team then maybe we could carry a player like him but right now, we do not. We need more from our forward players than what he gives us. I would much rather we took any money that we could get for him and used it wisely on a more mobile forward.
  14. Sorry, this won't be popular, but I think we should sell Boyd right now. On the one side, we are a FAR better team when he is absent. Plus, the boost it would give Sebo would be fantastic. If i was offered 2-3 mill for Boyd right now I would take it. If we really are behind PLG, let the man build a side to play his type of football.
