  1. I agree with this assessment. Its one of those unfortunate situations where a few idiots can ruin it for the rest of us. Of course its frustrating to miss out on the atmosphere and emotion of actually being there, but its important that we avoid any bother. Been abroad a few times and there is always a few idiots who try chatting up pretty girls whilst their boyfriend is in tow. The pretty girls boyfriend that is. The ones getting drunk who obviously cannot handle a drink and make right backsides of themselves and embarrassing the rest of the fans. One of my brothers was on holiday when the villareal game came along and he went to it. He said never again. The fans were like animals he said. I do not know exactly what he meant by this but I have to say in defence of fans, he has never been to a game abroad before and guess he was not used to fans abroad. Thankfully, the majority of fans abroad do police themselves and it's always just a few who let us down at times.
  2. I grew up with 5 brothers and "grassing anyone" was a definate no no. Obviously seeing something like a child being abused or a mother tortured etc, this is something you would grass but by not grassing, I complained and took the beating from my brothers if they did not like my complaints. So I would never grass a Rangers fan in. It should be left to the police. That's what they are there for and paid to do. Not us. Also, do the rock steady crew guys get paid enough to go into the support and tell them to stop doing something? No, not worth the risk or the money they get paid if you think someone is going to "gie you one" if you do. They should tell the police though and when they do, and fan or fans are removed, the other fans do not know why except those in close proximity and Rock Steady guy gets pelters from others who do not know what is going on but see a fan being escorted out. I don't like grassing other fans, the police have ears like everyone else. I also said about gerry mc nee moaning about something that we do. Well' he did with the bouncy article. No matter what we do........................
  3. Oh lets talk about it. It really shuts them up. The greatest shame hanging over any club in th eworld. Another first?
  4. That sums up the evidence, and were the ref was, far behing the incident, the playacting (or not?) would look to the ref as if he did something like a headbutt. Didn't see any marks on the guys face to indicate where he was headbutted when he was telling the reporter to F off.
  5. Thanks for all the input regarding the origional point. It was interesting to note the different views. I was not against the display as some origionally thought and jumped the gun. But it turned out to be a bit a bit of a dissappointment as a spectacle. Flags were way too small. I do not believe it helped create the atmosphere on the night. That was purely down to the players having the right attitude on the field which gave the fans something to cheer about. It amazes me though how we all have different views on things but not afraid of saying so. Unlike the mhanky mob who tend to go with the flow in fear of being an outcast and will agree to anything put forward. They need to be loved
  6. That was my first thought too. However, on reading the post just above yours, I now think the poster is asking "If we can fly the Union flag at Ibrox and celebrate something that is essentially related to a political/historical event, why can't we sing songs related to other political/historical events?" Thank you.
  7. What has 'bluebells are blue' got to do with a Rangers match? What has 'Rule Britannia' got to do with a Rangers match? What has 'GSTQ' got to do with a Rangers match? What has 'YNWA' got to do with a Liverpool match? What has 'the soldier song' got to do with a sellick match? What has 'the boys of the old brigade' got to do with a sellick match? What has 'The Halls of Montezuma' got to do with a Killie match? What has 'Blowing Bubbles got to do with a Hammers match? Let's ban them all. Exactly. That is my point of argument to it all but others say they are just songs or chants. So why is ours banned? Why are we not telling uefa to stuff it if they are not going to ban all things that have nothing to do with football? And not all football fans worldwide sing "harmless songs/chants at football. There is sectarinism/hate in their songs as well. Also, the union flag has as much, nay, more bloody history than the protestant/catholic thing. As with the spanish and germans and so on. Don't gang up on me, it's good to see you all defend the display. I am not against it myself. Just a pity you can't take on uefa with the same fervour and gusto as you do on a keyboard. Lets be honest here, the fans just can't sing right these days without a version of Hello Hello to warm them up.
  8. It is the history and tradition of our Britishness, but nothing to do with football is it? But if it is tradition and history to celebrate it, then why are fans being berated for other aspects of thier history and tradition at football? I'm sure you know what I mean without going into it all? The stuff that uefa bans us from singing to start with. I am not against the display, just looking for a good reason as to why history and tradition is accepted in one thing but not in another? I am just playing devils advocate here. I understand what you are saying, and don't don't have aproblem with the display, but on the other hand, the argument is, it has nothing to do with football.
  9. This flag display to celebrate the union............... What has it got to do with football? And Rangers? I know we will hear "because Rangers are a British club?" The union was formed long before football was a sport as we know it so why celebrate it a football match? And why, if there is a need to celebrate it, was there not a thing passed in the scottish parliment to celebrate it or make it a day for everyone to celebrate? Or in parliment in westminster? I am not saying not to do it, I think it will look great with all the saltires flying as well but why is the whole of Britain not celebrating it? Is this another thing that British people are afraid to celebrate in fear of offending anyone?
  10. I was pleased with the fact we played the ball more on the deck today and had Killie doing all the running around.
  11. People argue that, what has it got to do with Rangers football club just as others argue what has the red hand got to do with RFC. As all other arguments go. If fans want to do something, then fair enough. It means something to them as a group of like minded people. Maybe not all but who has the right to deny anyone from what they want to do so as it is not illegal. Thing is, as long as it does not harm anyone in the process then there should be no problem to anything a fan or fans do. Rangers fans are notorious for arguing/debating amongst themselves because that is the freedom they have grown up to enjoy. They do not always agree/disagree as a one in fear of being beaten down in fear of going against the grain. No one should be telling other fans not to do something.
  12. This is interesting as I have been debating the red hand thing that some fans may do abroad and the concerns that are Surrounding it being mistook for a anzi salute. Thing is, where does it all stop to worrying about offending others, I suggested that if someone took it on board, they could perceive the flying of the British flag as offensive and hey presto. look what's happening. I think a lot of the fans will welcome the union flag display, but I also think th displays spoil the atmosphere a bit. Anyway, that's another subject. If fans do not wish to fly it, then that is their choice.
  13. It's last minute but thought it may be of interest to younger bears to give it a go. If you write a good story the editor of the Rangers news will print it. Anything on Rangers FC, the fans or whatever to do with Rangers.
  14. Your best bet is to contact BBC Scotland and STV. They will have them in their archives and should be able to offer a service to put them on video or dvd. Just a thought as I was looking for a Taggart episdoe and STV sent me a copy of the episode. At a cost of course but it was reasonable. Get their customer services phone number and give them a call. I say stv and bbc for the earlier games. Maybe sky for the later games?
  15. Why did he want out in September, then? Because we knew then he was a shite manager and he knew we knew.
  16. You're on your own pal thinking that way. Did he feel sorry when getting rid of brown, ricksen, bardsley and trying to get rid of barry? The man wanted respect, but he has to earn it first.
  17. Defo not Butcher. He shot himself in the foot when he wrote THAT book. Strongest rumour is walter smith will aid ally mc coist as manager. Stuart mcCall may come in also maybe as a replacement reserve manager with Ian durrant moving on to assitant manager. I repeat, the strongest rumour. Not a known fact.
  18. The mint should be stripping leGuen of the managers job as he has undermined the fans and the name of Rangers FC. with his farcical tactics.
  19. No protest. No one there. Just a few cars and a van. Door shutters were down. no one to protest too.
  20. Never had an answer from that lot once. No matter what I asked.
  21. grow up, it's called ripping the pish, how you work the ibrox disaster into that is beyond me 66 skulls around a castle calling it castle greyskull, done by a tim as a sick joke. You grow up. If this is something you think is "ripping the pish" then you think it's fun to mock the 66 dead as well as the tim who made it up in the first place? You my friend are the ignorant one not knowing this. Go on other Rangers forums and ask others. Like Follow Follow, club deck loyal etc. They will put you right.
  22. I hate that term as although it comes from a cartoon, A septic minded idiot put skullls around a castle and called it greyskull. this mocking the memory of those that died in 71. That's the low life scum that they are.
  23. Thanks guys but not what I am looking for. I have 17 captains but not sure how many more there are. I need like an official list. May have to call Ibrox.
  24. Looking for help with a list of all the captains that have played for Rangers between Peter Mc Neil and Eric Caldow's time. I'm not looking for ones who only did it temporarily for the captains who were out injured or for one day as an honour etc. Would appreciate any help here. cheers. Jim, who helps with the complete history fact sheet could add this to the excel spreadsheet if he has the time?
