Article in the Herald.. Whether Maloney is still a Celtic player come the close season remains to be seen but Smith played down reports of an audacious swoop to take the player to Ibrox. The Rangers manager is a known admirer of Maloney, out of contract in the summer, and awarded him his first Scotland cap, against Belarus in 2005. Kenny McDowall, the new Ibrox first-team coach, is also close to the player from his time at Celtic. Smith, though, denied that he had made any moves to lure the 24-year-old. "There has been no contact between myself and Gordon Strachan, the player or his agent," he insisted. "So although I do rate Shaun, any such move would be fraught with difficulties." John Halliwell, the player's agent, is scheduled to meet with Celtic tomorrow for further contract talks. http://www.theherald.co.uk/sport/headlines...1142173.0.0.php
