  1. My preference would certainly be to get as many players as possible in now, to give them time to settle. Especially younger players like Gow. If it's a case of 100k or so to match Falkirks valuation, it's got to be worth paying that bit extra to get him in now, no question.
  2. In terms of the first team, Ferguson is the only player that I can say with any confidence is good enough for a Championship winning side next season. I would show faith in McGregor, Smith and Boyd though. The rest aren't good enough (although we obviously need to see the CBs in action, and wait and see if Webster or Weir stay for next season) We have to be realistic in the transfer market, the funds we have available will have to be stretched over a number of positions. At this time, using this window and the summer, I would like to see a side similar to the following for next season: ______________________________McGregor Whittaker_____________Ehiogu_______________Webster_________Smith Brown_______________Ferguson______________Hartley________Etherington ______________________Boyd_______________McDonald I would also like to see Gow and Naismith come in.
  3. Barry does that and also dictates play when we're attacking. Being accomplished at keeping possession isn't enough, his off the ball work just isn't good enough for me.
  4. I agree with you AB... But to be honest I cant see it happening. He has set his stall out so to speak with his denials in the press...cant really see him doing an about turn on this one can you ? No, I can't see him apologising unfortunately. Still, he's not even signed yet, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.
  5. D'Artagnen, I understand where you are coming from with Hartley. Whether or not there is any argument about him being misquoted, being young at the time, etc etc.......I believe that he should address the issue when he signs. Even if it's just a short statement at the press conference saying that he regrets the remarks and apologises to anyone that was offended by them. But even if he doesn't, and I think you agree, the fans must back Walter's judgement in bringing him in from a football perspective and not stage any form of protest, as angered as some fans may be.
  6. His injury problems still worry me, but if he stays fit, he's just what we need. A big no nonsense CB. David Weir impressed me more though, I think he's the better player to be honest. Will prove himself to be the best CB in the SPL in my opinion.
  7. The comment about him being a Catholic being of any importance was wrong. Lets educate though, rather than lambast. I believe that poster is 12 years old, and while his views on Rangers matters are as valid as anyone else, he may not be aware of the Hartley article, and has therefore jumped to that conclusion, or been ill advised by others. You don't want to see Paul Hartley at the club, and I understand your stance. But if he signs, will you boo him ? And would you support any protests, inside or outside of Ibrox ?
  8. Lennon can tackle. In the position, just in front of the defenders where both these players play aka defensive midfield you need to be able to tackle. Lennon can, Hemdani can't. Regardless of nationality or love for the booze he suited to the French game not to the SPL.
  9. From what I gather, the feeling on FollowFollow is so strongly against Hartley signing that many of them will boo him if he signs. Does anyone know if this is the case ? It would be disgraceful is this happens. Even if people are against Hartley, their loyalty to Walter and the club in general should be stronger than any hate for one individual, so I hope these fans do not stage any kind of protest, inside or outside Ibrox.
  10. I'd dispute that. Gow is a skillful wee player and he's recently shown he can find the net since the departure of Stokes whom he set up with many assists. Buffel can assist and score once in every 5 games. For that reason I'd have the much cheaper but mad Rangers fan Gow... he dosnt get to play five games in a row. when he does get a game its out wide where he gets none of the ball. it would be like playing boyd at left back or nacho in the centre of defence its stupid I wouldn't take it that far, playing wide shouldn't be that alien to a creative player like Buffel. In the SPL, with the ability he has, he should be showing a lot more when asked to play there. And anyway, he's been crap when asked to play off the main striker too this season, his start against Aberdeen at Ibrox (Sebo Sebo game!!) for example. He's had regular runs in the team before this season, and not performed. That's why he's now a bench player, his own poor performances in the past. If he's only getting scraps from the bench now to prove himself, it's his own fault. He's had more chances than most get at Ibrox, he should count himself lucky he's still here, if he doesn indeed have the desire to play for us, which is questionable at times.
  11. No. We are working hard to stamp out BB and FTP this season, and that should be applauded. (And yes, I know the arguments about BB, but they don't stand up in this day and age, before anyone goes on a rant !) I have no problem with the rest though.
  12. I don't think you've missed any. I would like to think we are still in for Brown, but I doubt it. I also rate Naismith, despite his dip in form. I believe he has great potential and could be a bit of a Maloney figure for us, offering a bit of creativity, could play on the left or up front. Wouldn't pay more than 750k though. At this time, whether it's now or the summer, the whole first team needs replaced except Smith, Ferguson and Boyd. I'd like to see McGregor for 6 more months, especially the two Old Firm games and europe before passing final judgement either way. The same with the CBs, we need to see who plays well and who stays on for next season.
  13. He's a better footballer, in terms of natural ability, but that doesn't mean that Gow won't give performances than Buffel has over his career at Rangers.
  14. To be fair, the pitch doesn't help and Hearts weren't exactly up for the beautiful game today. Hopefully if the pitch clears up in the next few weeks, and we go on a winning run which boosts the players confidence, we will see them start to play some better football on the deck.
  15. We are needing creativity, no question, especially in the wide areas where we have been dire this season. Lets just hope that Walter doesn't plan on playing big Lee down the left and Hartley down the right ! If Hartley signs, he takes Hemdani's place, surely. If McCulloch signs and plays left mid, and going by the press conference today I think that's the plan, then we really need some pace and creativity down the right to balance the team.
  16. He's not a regular with us and he's no longer in the Belgian squad as far as I know, so I think some fans need to get realistic in terms of price tag. ?1.5m would be fair to me. If we got towards ?2m we would be doing very well for ourselves.
  17. Sionko's a 'no trick' pony, nowhere near good enough. There was paper talk today that PSG and St Etienne were interested, and that we may be able to get close to ?1m for him. I would bite their hand off for half that at the moment !
  18. I've got Svensson and Buffel up on this page, two players that have shown they have the hearts of mice at times in a Rangers jersey. Surely Barry and Prso are the prime candidates. As a more random suggestion, whether he's in or out the team, I think Murray is very well respected amongst the Rangers support, first class attitude.
  19. and of course he ain't Scots or a boozer, what chance has he. What kind of comment is that ? Nothing constructive to contribute ? It's nothing to do with nationality. I've heavily criticised Hutton, Adam and Burke this season. None of them are first team quality in my opinion. Boyd needs to add more to his game, but to be fair needs better service. I have my doubts that McGregor is good enough in the long term. So what is your point ?
  20. That is my opinion as well, but he is not the only one. Agreed. Adam and Sionko were awful today too, I admire Novo' efforts but he'll always be a limited player. Boyd I have more sympathy with, I'll judge him when we give him some decent service from out wide and a better strike partner (someone with both pace and creativity would be perfect, but who fits the bill, can we afford them and will they come ? I'd like to see Naismith and McDonald sign up to boost the squad)
  21. I really think this guy is very over-rated. Don't get me wrong, he's a very intellgent, neat and tidy footballer that generally keeps possession very well. But he just doesn't give enough off the ball. He's got to show he's more willing to do more of the dirty work. He reminds me of someones dad joining in a park game with his kids mates. You can tell he's a good player, he'll play simple passes and won't give it away, but if some wee nipper goes to make a run past him, he won't go chasing, and just generally won't get stuck in. We need more energy and aggression from him off the ball, but I don't think he'll ever give us that. I'm not saying we should have kept Ricksen, but remember when he was on his game in midfield, the type of performances he gave ? That's what we need in my opinion, a player closer to his style. If we could find another Gattuso, that would be perfect ! The biggest problems today was again the wide men, and creativity in general, I accept that. But some fans seem to view Hemdani as a player who would be good enough for us beside Barry next season. I strongly disagree with that view. In games against weaker opposition, where we are finding it easier to control the game, he will stroll through it and give an admirable performance. But when the going is tough, he just doesn't cut it for me.
  22. No no, no no no no, no no no no, no no, there's no lim-it...........it seems to stories linking us to some really poor players who are no better than what we have. Big no to Neilson from me, I'd rather persist with Hutton or give Lowing a chance.
  23. Bang on, that's what it comes down to for a lot of people, although they won't admit it. I bought into the hype, I was wrong, I admit it. There are strong rumours, that have been printed in the press (Leggat being one), that PSG approached PLG 4 weeks before he left. PLG did offer to quit 3 weeks before he left, but Murray rejected this offer. Then the whole Barry Ferguson situaton is stirred up. PLG leaves and just falls into a perfect job, big club, PSG, back in his native France. Bit of a coincidence, eh ? Very lucky the job just opened up for him at the right time PLG engineered his way out the club, and he used Barry as a scapegoat. Anyone that can't see that is either a bitter fan that will never accept the fact that Barry left the club or a fan that can't admit they were wrong over PLG. Every aspect of PLGs management was horrendous, from his man management to his team selection to his transfers to his tactics. And, with the way he engineered his way out, using Barry as the scapegoat to deflect the criticism off himself and keep his reputation as intact as possible..........he proved himself to be a complete and utter @rsehole, leaving us in an even worse state. Support Barry feck PLG
