  1. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14051735.stm Liverpool have reached agreement with Blackpool for the transfer of Scottish midfielder Charlie Adam. The Anfield club said Adam, 25, will now travel to Merseyside for a medical and to discuss personal terms. In the January transfer window the Reds had two bids - the second worth £6.5m - rejected by the Seasiders, who were reportedly holding out for £9m. But Liverpool reopened talks at the end of the season for a player who had only 12 months left on his contract. More to follow
  2. Not wanting your own individual opinions on we should sign x,y or z just a general positional and maybe a rough price tag on how much you think McCoist will spend this summer. In my opinion McCoist will look at the squad and categorize it in the same way as I have below (i've used tiers to make it easier) Tier 1 Mcgregor Whittaker Davis Naismith Jelavic All 5 of those should and will be starting the majority of games when they are fit Tier 2 of players who will play around 70-75% of games if fit are McCulloch (maybe even tier 1) Boogie (wld say the same but Mccoist will be looking at replacements already) Papac Lafferty Weir Edu (still think Mccoist will look to play him ahead of Ness) Tier 3 (50% or less) Broadfoot Ness Wylde Alexander Fleck Healy Tier 4 (whenever we're short of numbers, maybe a few league cup games) Beattie Hutton Cole Mcmillan Perry Little Other than James Beattie I honestly cant see McCoist telling anyone there not needed, I think he might sell Edu if he got a 2-2.5 mill bid, I don't think McCoist will take less! I think he knows that Papac, Weir and Bougherra's are players that will leave at the end of the season (although papac may stay another year) and I think Broadfoot's probably got a fair bit to do before he gets anywhere near a new deal! So I'd anticipate we'll bring in at least 3 defenders in the summer a winger and maybe a striker. I don't think he'll add anymore central midfielders unless we get rid of Edu & I still wouldnt say its 100% he'll bring in another striker with Beattie, Lafferty, Jelavic and Healy all on the books! If we do add to these areas It may be them both being loans and maybe look to add '2 players for the future' (ie a random 19 year old from slovakia or something!) Looking at our squad I think we'll make 4 permanent signings 2 defenders(lb+cb), a striker and a winger as well as maybe another 2 loans! (def, mid) I certainly think 6 is the number we need in and they'll all be in the tier 2 class of player! str - 1.5-2 mill lb- 1-1.5 mill cb- 2 mill winger - 1-2 mill Total spending 5.5-7.5 mill Would we be happy with this?
  3. Agreed, Im saying no about novo but if we were getting him on a free and on low wages (like 8k or less) Id say yes, all depends on money and individual! Some individuals i wouldn't take back no matter what (Lovenkrands) but everyones gonna have different opinions!
  4. Again aye because Weiss and Bartley just weren't good enough were they!
  5. As much as I love Nacho it's a no for me, Heart over head id say yes, but I just don't think he's good enough. The only player I'd 100% have back here is Carlos Cuellar, as well as Bartley and Weiss on Permanent or loan deals but thats not really the same as re-signing a former player, Cuellers the only one I'd resign permanently. Its a no to any Barry Ferguson, Gattuso, Novo, Boyd, Miller, Thomson... I would have previously wanted Hutton back but im not even sure on that anymore!
  6. I did a search and have found Raul Garcia (Now at Athletico) scored against us at Ibrox and Webo scored against us in Spain. From what i've found he didn't play any part of either game against us.
  7. We're never all going to have the same opinion. If we got Goodwillie he's have my backing 100%! I didn't want us re-signing Kenny Miller and i'm glad he made me eat my words and had undoubtedly the best form of his career with us. Suppose we'll always have passengers, Beatties the worst for a while, at least Rothen and Amdy Faye were only on loan! Like i said though new season, If Beatties here, clean slate from me and I hope he does well!
  8. Dunno about that, wonder if he played against us when we had Osasuna? I remember them being far better than us and it was fooking freezing at the brox, hemdani scored a late equaliser in a game which had been pretty much all them? (that may be wrong it was a while ago?) I dont remember much about any of there players, the one that stood out for me was that webo (I think...) and we signed cuellar of course but from what I remember he didn't have much to do!
  9. No worries don't let the door hit ur arse on the way out!
  10. Hibs were shite last year, true! Maybe in a better team he'd have done alright, who knows! Same as this guy we just dont know how he'll do! We just have to hope he's decent! Don't want to start carrying passengers in our squad, McCoist's first year can do without a bad atmosphere. Goodwillie for me would be 3rd choice here, 4th really as id say Naismith if played up front is better than Goodwillie too although we'd expect him to be played in midfield! If we were going to pay 2 million for a striker it makes Healys even stranger, a youngster, a jan signing or maybe even a loan deal is what id expect from us up front.
  11. a 71 in fifa well thats it then he's almost as good as mo edu and jelavic & better than stevie naismith haha! (cant actually remember what edu is rated at :S)
  12. Im not his biggest fan! I don't think he was good enough last year and I think the year before that he was average at best. I think positionally he's not good enough and the shirking out of tackles thing i agree with but thats more about confidence than lack of effort, I certainly wouldn't call him a lazy player. (I actually thought the last couple of games of last season he got stuck in a bit more and looked a lot better, dunno if someone had a word) Hutton's still got a lot of work to do for me, didn't really stamp his authority on the game and I don't think he'll be a regular any time soon, Ness however looks ready, we do have to be careful not to put too much pressure on these players too soon. Now back to Edu, would I sell him, absolutely, but I think we could get our money back or maybe even make a little profit on him as he's held in quite high regard by a lot of teams according to the rumours. He could get us some money if his performances pick up and if he had some support so his head didn't go down every time he made a mistake, the fans could help with that by not booing him all the time for the slightest mistake! Like I said I think he works hard enough he just doesn't have the confidence right now and keeps making silly errors! TBH I don't see him starting in the team anyway. your criticisms seem fair enough and I'd pretty much agree with them, I just think I can keep them to myself or write about them on a forum constructively which most on here pretty much haven't done! He's one of our players I think we could show a little respect for that alone
  13. Aye so i am and your just an imbecile who has rocks for brains! back ur team or away n watch someone else! Hate 'fans that can't even support there own!
  14. Fair one but I think other than football manager and youtube not many are going to have heard of this specific player! Granted your right there will be some who know of him but the majority won't, he's not exactly a household name. Anyway the point I was trying to make mate was just that we shouldn't get carried away, If we get him lets hope its on our terms (transfer fee and wages) and that we don't start to judge him until he's signed and plays a few games. Like i said with De Graaf at hibs he was meant to be a good player who had played regularly in the dutch league for years and he was mince last season! A couple of good youtube goals doesnt make him a good player! Anyway that all sounded a bit negative but im hopeful he'll be a good player! If he does half as well as the last player we signed from a spanish team we'll all be happy! I agree Naismith will be played in midfield I'm also of the opinion that Lafferty deserves to start the season up front beside Jela, I thought the big man was exceptional the last 7 or 8 games and im hopeful that he will hit the ground running. We have healy on a new deal and by the sounds of his interviews super's promised him more game time! We then have beattie as 4th choice, unless we offload him, which to be fair we've shown no signs of doing, can't imagine there will be many bidders for him so i'd wipe the slate clean and give him a fresh start! (despite how bad he's been) If we bring in another striker would Healy be happy at being 4th choice right from the start of the season? I genuinly think if we bring in anyone, it'll be a striker for the future someone in there teens or waiting til January if Beattie and Healy aren't doing it! I know the majority want goodwillie but I just don't think he's better than what we've already got! If he signs I'll back him like I do every player we sign!
  15. You honestly don't think edu works hard? Some fans will just jump on a bandwagon! total boo boys! Edu makes mistakes granted but u know what, he's done some good things also. He does a few things wrong and suddenly he's at fault for everything! I can confirm for any doubters Maurice Edu did not cause the volcanic ash cloud!
  16. Aye and your a disgrace! Edu hasnt been good, granted but like folk have said he's a confidence player, u ever been in a situation where someones shouted at you told you that you were useless and mocked you for not being up to scratch? I haven't but i tell u what because i've something up there (a brain) I can imagine what kind of psychological effect that would have on the player. Telling him he's shite isn't going to do any good other than to boost your moronic ego, back the team and learn how to be a proper supporter!
  17. Well I didn't mean it to sound like a direct comparison, i.e Ortiz or Goodwillie, I just meant id rather spend money on someone playing in la liga compared to a guy who in my opinion has only had 1 good season in the SPL and has attitude issues. Also the de graaf thing is a good point in my mind, because there's a lot of folk praising ortiz... yet we know nothing about him, it's not a bad target, but we don't really know what we'd be getting if he comes, lets be cautious and optimistic & hope he arrives.... but lets not praise him as some great la liga player as by all accounts... I dont think he is! Fingers crossed he comes in and does a job. By the way as for needing a striker.... we have 5 on the books who can play up front, Laff, Jela, Healy, Beattie & Naismith... I don't think a striker is going to be out top priority, 1 will come in at some point but I don't think we'll have any additional strikers come in before the cl qualifiers!
  18. Who knows what this will be like, his team finished bottom of la liga, he's 29 and doesn't score many goals for someone who mainly plays as a right midfielder (according to wiki). I'm happy with it if the fee's 1 million or less. Certainly someone thats played regularly in la liga should have something to offer. Then again hibs signed that Edwin de Graaf who had played in the eredivisie and he was mince so who knows. All that said i'd rather we gambled on a player thats played in la liga than paid 2 million for goodwillie
  19. Lets hope this happens then I'd imagine we'll focus more on getting players in, That'll mean we at least have Davis, Jela, Whitts, Naisy & Mcshagger signed for the next few years and even if we sell one we've got to be looking for the big bucks transfer fees for each of them! This is the thing about the scum over the road, they may have a bigger squad but I don't think any of there players have the same quality as our big players (maybe izzy and kayal are at the same level as Whitts) If we can get some quality players in and around these guys I can honestly see 4iar being a lot easier than 3. Thank you very much Mr Whyte you've given us a solid core of players for the forseeable future!
  20. I like Whittaker, he's well worthy of a new deal, 5 years is fine, hes only just turned 27 last month and it now means if he leaves we can expect a good transfer fee, I'd reckon 4 mill, but we have him for his peak years and i totally believe keeping the core of this squad together is a good thing, why break up a side of champions? Am I happy with how the negotiations went and how is agent acted? No, but I do believe Whittaker is a key part of our side and I'm not convinced there's a better right back in Scotland. If its not broke why fix it?
  21. http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/rangers/261137-steven-davis-close-to-agreeing-new-rangers-contract/ Steven Davis has been offered a new five-year contract to stay at Rangers and could sign with the club by the end of the week. STV understands the midfielder, who was bought from Fulham in 2008 after an initial loan spell, is happy with the length of the deal on offer but both parties are currently negotiating the finer details of the contract. Rangers sources are optimistic the 26-year-old will become the latest of the current first team squad to commit to the club, with Allan McGregor, Steven Whittaker, David Healy, Andrew Little and Salim Kerkar all signing new deals. Davis has one year left to run on his current deal and his representatives have been in talks with Rangers over the last few weeks, despite reported interest from clubs willing to take him back to England. Since arriving at the club three years ago, Davis has played 146 times, winning the Scottish Premier League and Scottish League Cup three times respectively, while also tasting success in the Scottish Cup on two occasions. Prior to moving to Scotland, Davis spent six months with Fulham, having moved from Aston Villa in July 2007. At international level, he has been capped 46 times for Northern Ireland, scoring twice.
  22. Hate this! I don't care if you dislike him, what good is sending abuse to him going to do? I always said i cld see a player in Lafferty and I can honestly say the same about Mo, he's had some bad times recently but I thought his last couple of games he actually did well. If edu has confidence and starts cutting out the silly errors, I think he'll still have a future here. Lets not forget this is a player who always puts in 100% effort, is very athletic in terms of covering ground and getting up and down the pitch and has a knack for scoring important goals. I also think he's performed better in the champions league than domestically. He needs to work on his tackling and passing that's for sure. Ok he's not the greatest player in the world but nor is he the worst, Amdy Faye, Emerson, Mladenovic, Makhtar N'Diaye.. etc etc! When the season starts he'll have a clean slate from me as will James Beattie ( who's done far less than Edu and doesn't look like he's going anywhere) I'll back every player that pulls on our strip because at the end of the day, the booing achieves nothing
  23. Tell you what he deserves it outstanding loyalty, the way he's gone about his business is outstanding, he and stevie naismith signed contracts no fuss, no hassle just signed and sealed not even bothered about what other teams were sniffing around. I'm not a big fan of testimonials anymore (players earn enough) but if anyone deserves one its Mcgregor. If anyone does want mcgregor I hope the club say they'll only listen to offers of £8mill plus and i'd have said more had he not been 29!! I dont think fans in England rate him that highly... which suits us to a tee as we know we have a top drawer keeper, hopefully for the next 6 years!
  24. For god sake there's no pleasing some people! We're keeping pretty much what's left of the core of our 3iar team and people still moan.
