  1. Age is fine, thats not what I was having a go at in my original post, although maybe by the same token then the age of cuellars off putting? I mean for 2 million maybe we could get a younger defender in? In both there favour though is the act that they have the quality to have an impact in our team in that both are better than what we already have. Cueller obviously is of a higher pedigree than Miller in that I think Cueller's been good no matter who he's played for. Sadly I think the minority of fans, while being a minority there are a few that dont want him here for the wrong reasons. Surely even you who doesnt want him back as he's a bit older (which is one of the reasons I wasnt keen as well as I have a wee superstition that i dont like players coming back) can still see that an on form miller could have something to offer on the pitch and for that reason you wouldnt be dead set against it if we got him for a reasonable price? I think we all know that miller was sold too cheaply and maybe we don't want to give bursa cash... Miller should still be our player and if Ally really wants him back, Bursa are quite entitled to ask for what he's worth (which is far greater than the scumbags paid us) If you look through at some of the posts and I think this is what you've missed theres all sorts on here about him not being good enough, about his form last time
  2. For someone to come on and say there dead against a transfer is negative. That's fine though I wouldnt mind if people came on and said, I just think we should look at younger options, I don't think he works well with Jela. You know those reasons are fine. To suggest he's not worth a million is nonsense as we all know he was in january even with the 6 months on his deal, so if hes not worth that now whats changed? We all know he is better than what we already have, so no one can say he's not good enough. Even people that say "I believe we could get a better player" You know thats alright to a degree, but we have to be realistic, its not football manager, like i've said i believe theres better our there, but at the same time, Im not negative about Kenny coming back just because we could get better. There's probably better alternatives than most of the players in our side. We just have to back what we have or what we get, you know yourself that some people are against Miller for the wrong reasons. So is it wrong for me to criticise those people?
  3. Another point for you, Hows your reaction to the Goodwillie, Cuellar, bartley potential signings? At least one of them must excite you? Just to add too im not against folk giving there opinion, thats fine, but people have been overly negative about this one potential signing and for me its without any good reason? I've never said that you've not backed the new regime, as you've said you'll support him if signs, the sad fact is some won't, if Miller signed and didn't score in his first 3 games some people would be on his back. That's how negative people are about him. Last time round we got a player who you could argue wasn't good enough for us, we thought he wasn't at the right level and you know what he proved he was. Thats why this time round I don't understand the level of negativity he's getting. If management choose Miller over Goodwillie, you know people will be criticising the management team even before millers played a game. That to me would be criticising the management team? Thats what i meant by getting behind the new team in place, I meant if miller signs we should back him thats all. You know there will be idiots moaning about it if we get him. Thats who that comment was attributed to. Not someone who says I think we should look at other options. I have no problem with that.
  4. Jump on a bandwagon, Im sorry what? I've given my own opinion? I've hardly regurgitated shite thats been said, I just put across a point that not everyone had been fair and some people were being overly negative about him. I'm not saying we should all want him back I never have. For the record, I'd rather we found someone new, but the unneccesary bilge that people have written on here is unfair on a player who has done a job for us over the course. The guy scored 21 league goals in 18 games and he was useful on the ball too, If that was any other player on here folk would be praising him to high heaven (look at the praise negri still gets) Miller was phenomenal last year for us. His Second spell was a resounding success. Jela hadn't even got started when miller was banging in the goals. People can say what they want about him, but if they think any of the above is untrue then il be the first to tell them there wrong! Is he better than what we have here? yes (other than jela) Is there any guarantee he'd be a success? Course not but when is there ever? We could sign goodwillie tomorrow and he could end up worse than sebo! If you cant see that people have been overly negative about miller then you need to try and read things from a less biased perspective! Its clear to me you dont want him back, like i said he wouldnt be my first choice, but I don't think you can argue with the fact that people have neem way too negative about miller when really if there is a chance of this happening, we should all still be excited at having him back with us due to the simple fact that he's better than what we already have.
  5. I know what your saying, Its no great having to fork out an extra million quid for someone that should still be our player, that was our previous owner (or the banks) decision which was stupid and incorrect. Bursa are doing nothing wrong by asking us to cough up the right fee for Miller who's on a long term contract (even though i hate them and hope they go bust one day!) Ability wise he is better than healy and beattie, probably lafferty too although the big man was excellent at the end of last season and If he was fit id have been annoyed if he didnt get the chance to keep his place. Miller would be a good addition to our squad.
  6. Seriously have you seen it on here the last few weeks? Its like a morgue! So much negativity about everything and for fans to be saying to our club not to sign a certain player adds to the negativity on here. By back the team, that includes back the management and there choice of signings, If you look through this thread there are plenty of Anti-Kenny Miller messages and plenty with no mention of backing him if he signs. the exact quote your looking for is "Millers overall form was piss poor last year, he said so himself, but his goalscoring couldnt be argued with. Still dont want him back, he is a selfish fuck" Really was his form piss poor, Was this guy watching the same games as I was? Millers form was excellent. There's no reason to not back the signing of Miller for me, other than the re-sale value aspect and the fact that he played for them, He's good enough and he's available by the sounds of it. I've given u a balanced opinion on kenny miller, with positives and negatives, the average poster on her here is all negative, when in actual fact those are the people who are posting tripe
  7. Theres no guarantees of anything with any player. Look at Capucho, no one saw him flopping when he signed. At least let him sign before we start judging him! For the record we all know he's not gonna repeat that 6 months but if he scored half that number of goals in that time id be happy.
  8. the negatives being he has no re-sale value? He's not messi? He's still good enough for this club, as a player he's better than what we already have. (other than Jela) He knows what he has to do to be successful. Other than that I cant see what else there is to say? Unless your gonna nit pick parts of his game? In which case you could do that for anyone of our players? For example, Steve Davis goes missing in a number of games, should we start picking on that? No because the guys a class act and in my opinion the best midfielder in the SPL. Back the team.
  9. When we sold him for that paltry sum we were raging saying he's worth more and Bursa had stolen our player and blah blah. They did and I have no doubt that was the previous regimes fault (murray and co, not Sir Walter Smith) for letting him go that cheaply. How much did you want back then, with 6 months on his deal? A million, 1.5 million? So why now when he has a long term deal is he not worth 1.5 million? Because you'd rather have David Goodwillie? Well guess what, this isn't football manager? You don't get to choose who we sign? If we sign Miller, lets back him to the hill, If thats who Ally wants playing for us then thats who Ally wants playing for us. I've seen someone suggest his form was awful last year? Awful who were u watching? The guy had the season of his life and in that first 6 months he was untouchable, better than any other player in the spl in that time? I know there is no resale value in this deal, but to suggest that Kenny Miller would not improve our team or do a job for us is ridiculous and some of the posts on here are embarrasing! (Not this one, as I know someone's bound to imply that it is) Get behind your team and wait and see who Super decides who he wants at the rangers and back them if they sign
  10. Miller is worth 1.5 million and you know it, what when we sold him for that paltry 300k or whatever it was, you weren't up in arms saying we were due more like the rest of us? Every one of us knows he was worth more even with the 6 months of his contract I think we'd have still wanted as a bare minimum of a million. Even then I still wouldn't have sold him. That was the previous regimes decision and not one I agree with. Burspaspor (as much as i hate them) are more than entitled to ask for the correct fee for miller. Kenny Millers second spell at rangers was a resounding spell at rangers was a total success, especially when for me he was carrying boyd for most of it. I've alreadys said theres no resale value in it, but its the same with cuellar, we'll no get that money back, they guys 30 in a month and he's been out with an injury for a good few months. so in terms of resale value they are similair deals. Sometimes its about getting quality on the pitch and if Ally feels that Cuellar and Miller are too he wants on the pitch then he has my backing, im sure they'll do great!
  11. I tell you what I can't believe someone wrote kenny millers form was 'piss poor' last season, get a grip! No doubt about it, If it wasn't for kenny millers phenomenal form in that first 6 months, we would not have won the league! We should have got more money for him when he left, even with 6 months on his contract. Say what you want about re-signing him I don't think there was one fan that actually wanted him to go.If he had longer on his contract last year, we could easily have asked for up to 3 mill in my opinion even at his age. This isn't football manager we dont choose who comes into this club, I know 2 things for sure though If miller does re-sign he will be a good signing and he will have my 100% backing should he rejoin. He probably is worth 1.5 million, even if theres no resale value in the deal and for that reason id rather we looked else where, but should he sign im 100% confident he would be a good signing for us on the pitch.
  12. 2 points 1. Diouf did have talent he just didn't have any pace, better footballer than novo any day of the week imo! 2. Diouf didn't have any good games? Not true he was outstanding against Motherwell in the 6-0 win and would have been my man of the match had Jela not got a hat trick. That said... sign him up still a no from me. No pace means he's not what we need, still think he could do a job for a team at centre midfield though!
  13. If he had pace I'd say yes right now. For me he's useful on the ball, good crosser, good at retaining possession, strong and although we never really saw it I think he has a decent shot and good technique. If he had pace id happily play him on our wing but without it it meant he was largely anonymous! I said before I could see diouf as a central midfielder as I think that would probably suit him right now and I think he could do a job there for a lot of teams, for us however that position already has a lot of cover.
  14. bolton sunderland and blackpool want him according to sky sports http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_7032801,00.html Skysports.com understands that Bolton and Sunderland have joined the race to sign Barry Ferguson. The Birmingham midfielder has been linked with a departure from St Andrews following Blues' relegation from the Premier League. It is thought the Scotland international wants to move north to be nearer his family and Blackpool have expressed an interest in the 33-year-old, who has one year left on his contract. But that has alerted Bolton and Sunderland, who would both be able to offer Ferguson the chance to stay in the Premier League. Bolton boss Owen Coyle is looking to bolster his midfield and sees Ferguson as an attractive option. Meanwhile, ambitious Sunderland have made a string of signings as they look to improve on last season's ninth-place finish, with Craig Gardner having already moved to Wearside from Birmingham this summer.
  15. A talented version of novo? He was nothing like Novo! Prso, was big powerful could score with either foot, could beat people, pick a pass, good in the air. His only 2 flaws were that he wasn't the quickest and his knees were made of jelly! Novo's not a patch on Prso. You may have forgotten how brilliant he was but I haven't. The guy was unplayable at times. Like someone else said too often he tried to do it all on his own and at the beginning of his rangers career... he was capable of doing that sadly as time went on his knees went and he wasn't as effective. For me he'd easily make the top strikers we've had in my lifetime (I'm 26) Mccoist, Hateley, Mols/Prso (honestly think Prso was up there with Mols obviously with a different style.) would be my top choices and to be honest Jelavic would probably be number 5! When we signed Prso we were in real dire straights, playing some of the worst football i've seen from a rangers side, Dado Prso gave me a reason to cheer again. If we had a mols/prso partnership for the period of time we had Mccoist/Hateley and obviously staying injury free I'd love to have seen how they got on! Folk always have the blinkers on when it comes to the current team, Jelavic has still got a bit to do if he's to prove to be world class, for me he's still to do it in the champions league and internationally, when he does that, then we can even put him on the same page as Prso.
  16. If Prso didnt have those dodgy knees he'd have gone on to play in the premiership, I think his first 2 seasons with us he was world class when fit to play and I think Jelavic lacks the power that Dado had when running with the ball. However I agree, that Jelavic over the course of the season was fantastic and probably did more this year than dado did in any of his at rangers. I think Prso at his peak with no injury problems was phenomenal though!
  17. Oh well looks like false hope the rumour i heard was that Davis had agreed a new 3 year deal and it would be announced today! Seeing as we've already had an announcement from Davis on the website, that looks like its complete tosh! sorry folks!
  18. Lads, you heard it here first he's signing! 3 year contract 40k a week as we were rumoured to be offering him 6 years ago, on a similar note we've offered a uk record fee for Alan Shearer and we're just waiting on a work permit for Mario Jardel! What a strikeforce!
  19. Really too many Fifa and Football manager folk on here! How about we let our scouting team identify the players and we back them when and if they join us! Not saying he's a bad player, but we're fans... we're not here to identify players!
  20. I know why you are saying that the guys 41, its the obvious judgement to make, but I tell you what I've seen Karl Svensson, Jose-Karl Pierre Fanfan, Sotrios Kygriakos, Julien Rodriguez and more... and in my opinion Weir right now is still more able to play centre back than they ever were for us... heck even Lorenzo Amoruso (loved by so many on here, made far far more mistakes than Weir has in there respective rangers careers) Even if people think having a 41 year old in our defence is laughable there have been worse 25 year olds playing in our defence! Another thought, is it any coincidence that any defender whos played alongside Weir has done well? (At Everton and Rangers anyway) Even Karl Svensson improved a little when he played alongside Weir. Lets just appreciate him for however long he's capable of playing for because once he goes I don't doubt for a second we'll miss him. I do agree that I'd like to see him bow out at the top and last season would have been an ideal time to do that. The longer he keeps going the chances of ending on a high decrease with every month and year he keeps playing!
  21. so u watched highlights not the entire match? So your making this judgement on the basis of 2 friendly matches at the start of our pre-season where the entire team have struggled? Sounds like a well thought out, sound judgement to me
