  1. Tbh I just really can't see the point of your argument. But happy to leave it there, like I said I'm just playing Devils Advocate.

Unless you're being deliberately obtuse, I think you see it more than clearly. The fact that I don't give a toss about any EPL club or their players, and that if they are hardly better than our youths, then why are they here in the first place, if other than to develop them for EPL teams. The only side bar being, as I said, next time, perhaps we'll actually get a couple in who can become some of our better players, otherwise, why are they in instead of a Rangers player of here in the first place.

The youth is a smoke screen. These players aren't here to be better than just our youth, of which I'm more than happy to give game time to and have patience with; they might actually go on to be players for our club, get out club a fee etc.

Scottish football may have changed in that we need to accept hand outs from the EPL, however, when we do take them on, if they are at least able to add something a Rangers player can't, that for me would be quite helpful and is the salient point. Otherwise, are we a feeder club for EPL teams.

  2. Sorry but you can't put Zelalem, Ball and Oduwa in the same bracket as our youth. The loanees aren't signed for their future talent, Warburton brought them in to improve our squad and play a heavy part in the first team. Our youngsters are the future, the loanees are the present. Their place in the starting eleven should be judged on merit and not on their potential a few years down the line.

    Exactly!

He might be decent for where he is at his career, however, how the fuck is that helping Rangers. If anything, it's only helping an EPL determine whether or not they have an actual talent on their hands and to aid their club in the future. The only hope to that is they manage to send us a couple of players next season who may actually help contribute at the present time for us.

  3. I'm just playing Devils advocate. Some of you appear to have an issue with the managers selections, that's fair enough it's nothing new.

Then why are so upset about an 18 year old filling in for an early round cup game?

I posted MW article on Zelalem in the match thread, I have no reason to doubt his words. It's natural managers will use experience over youth in big games, doesn't mean they think the youth players are no good.

It means the management team think the players they select for the big games are the best players at the club or available at the time; as MW has been quoted as saying on many an occasion, if they are good enough, then they are old enough. Works both ways, the fact he sits for the major games would prove testament to that fact.

I wasn't so much bothered about him getting a run out today, more the fact some smart arses (not you) were proclaiming him as the next great thing after he set up a goal against the Blue Brazil. Pushing their own little agendas while choosing to ignore the fact he's been anonymous in many a game.

It's a Rangers discussion board after all, some people could see Ally was never a football manager for instance, while others were continuing to defend him to the death, as the ship was sinking. Although we all have our own opinions, do we not?

  4. You seem furious about the fact that we'd play an Arsenal youngster over Nicky Law in a cup game though. You don't think it could possibly help us in the future but if we didn't play loanees then we probably wouldn't get trusted with them again.

And it's not as if Zelalem is a liability. He had a good game today and is an asset to our squad.

Of course we need to give these players game time, and as I've said, hopefully next year we can actually get a player or two in with (right now) the quality to contribute to a title run.

He's had plenty of game time, most of it, fortunately, not in the big games encase he decides to go missing.

  5. These are silly arguments, that just prove no matter how well we play or how successful we are some will always find fault somewhere.

Then why are you still stretching to prove a moot point, or do you expect everyone to agree with your point of view, then it's not so silly. Come on, Al  can't continue a discussion then chastise someone for that.

Caring about the future of Rangers, I'm alright with that.

  6. Whether he's from Auchenhowie or Arsenal or wherever won't stop peoples expectations. If a teenager doesn't set the heather alight every game people will turn on them. It's happened too often to be a coincidence. Rangers fans have no time for inconsistent players, and by definition young players will be inconsistent.

Whether you or I like it or not, MW rates these loans better than our own youth currently. He's repeatedly mentioned it's up to our youngsters to be better than who he brings in.

This is MW plan, to rely on and trust young players. Either Rangers supporters learn and adapt to that philosophy or we have to change.

Some people perhaps, yes, however, myself, I'm not one of them. That said, however, there is no point in having him on the pitch if there are better options available. He's not here to be better than out youths - otherwise we really are turning into a fucking EPL feeder club - he's here to be one of our best players, otherwise, why is he here exactly.

Someone like a Weiss came in - albeit a bit overrated by some - and he was quite clearly one of our best players and a cut above at the top tier. I'd prefer a team full of Rangers players, however, accept where Scottish football is and if we can bring in quality to give us a chance at titles / make an impact in Europe, then so be it. That is a world away from the standard of player we have this season, and I would hope that as we continue to use this market we get players more capable than being just better than our youths, never mind players who actually turn out to be some of our best; otherwise, were just up here developing future success for the likes of Arsenal.

And whether you like it or not, the fact that MW has benched him in almost every crucial game. that should tell you more about what he actually thinks about him.

On a side note, I'm more than happy to give our youth as long as they need, particularly these days, it's what we must do. On that, we agree wholeheartedly.

  7. Aye, he doesn't look a 'natural finisher' and he'll need to work on that if he's going to break into the Arsenal team. 2 or 3 guilt edge chances, tbh though I think some of our fans expect way too much from an 18 year old. That's the same if he's from Arsenal or Auchenhowie. Some Rangers fans need to learn patience with young players.

Personally, I'm all or giving young players every opportunity to perform, Rangers players. I'm one of the first to say to give them every opportunity to make it and receive game time. That really is the actual point, if they are going to contribute to our future then happy days. However, the fact we bring players in on loan would suggest they automatically be far superior to a number of our players and be one of the best players we have - certainly not the case with him - otherwise we are simply developing a future player for an EPL team. I don't give a fuck what age a loan player is, they are here to improve the team as these days we cant compete with most teams from the EPL. If they are clearly not a cut above, what is the fucking point of them being here: aside from, as Ingio suggested, the hope of receiving future, more capable players from said EPL teams.

Speaking for myself, in that instance, there is a huge difference between a player from Auhenhowie or Arsenal.

  8. I much prefer Law in there and I've been his biggest critic but fair play he's been decent this season,I'd rather use our own players anyway and not become reliant on players who won't be here in a few months

The once decried 'invisible man' has looked good under a manager with any clue as to how to manage a football club. Not a case of excusing Law, some of the previous performances were poor, however, he's been far more effective in there than the aforementioned.

As for your last point, it's bang on the money.

  9. Calm down boys it's MW picking him nearly every week not RangersMedia posters. Maybe people are just supporting the team and the managers decisions, I can understand that. :)

He has to give them game time, that is quite clear, however, says a lot that he's not been selected for the more crucial matches. Give me a Rangers player in the team instead of an Arsenal loan player unless he improves our team ten-fold or beings something we don't have to the table; at this moment he does neither. I care more about the future of Rangers than helping Arsenal rear their reserves.

Other than that, as I say, next season people will expect us to be challenging right away and they'll be no room or leeway as we have had in many a game next season. We can't afford to carry players, largely anonymous in many games. Many of the same people talking him up would be the first to criticise if the shit hit the fan and we fall points behind the MM. Just as many who wouldn't hear a word said against MW were ready to throw him to the wolves when we hit a sticky patch. No plan 'B' etc. There is always a middle ground.

I hope the next set of loan players are able to make more of a mark, as we are going to need to hit the ground running next season.

  10. Unless a loan signing is dramatically better than what we have then I'd rather play our own players tbh,he may turn into a superstar but at this moment in time our midfield operates better when he's not in it imo

Difficult concept for some here to grasp it would seem. The much maligned Law has come back in and outshone the next Boban in every game he has played.

Are people forgetting he's looked totally anonymous against the likes of Dumbarton and Alloa. Strange description for immense talent.

  11. Amazes me, one decent pass for an assist and people are still trying to proclaim the Arsenal loan guy as the next Xavi. Must have been due to the Blue Brazilian opposition. Quite sure half of it is agenda driven in people looking to be proved correct, which I find odd considering any future player he may become will only to be the benefit of Arsenal: as it sure as fuck isn't going to be with us.

People are conveniently forgetting the fact he's done the square root of fuck all in the vast majority of his game time.

If he's ever going to be as good as he has been talked up by some, (world class) and I'll fall off my perch if that happens, then he's going to need an attitude change in addition to working on may aspects of his game.

I hope to Christ next season we make better use of the loan market than we have done this season, adding actual 'value' if we are going to compete with the MM.

  12. Weve used them consistently. Falkirk played Sinnamon for like 20mins

    A good point (tu)

If we are told by all and sundry that our EPL players should be getting a game simply because an EPL team has been so gracious to loan them to us, then we'd be as well insiting the players we loan out actually see proper game time.

Can't have it both ways, both have contributed precious little so far, and have received considerable game time, particularly earlier on.

  13. When you think of all the players - may of whom were Rangers - down the years not to even have a sniff of the Scotland set-up, makes you realize just how far we've fallen as a footballing nation when utter mince such as him are given a team Cap.

Remember his appearance as well, totally shambolic. Proved exactly why he ended up with the one, and he was fucking lucky to get that.

  14. dragged up something from 2007 ffs, all the while saying we've escaped a fine for previous singing, then show a tweet by nil by mouth, aye that one sided anti sectarian organisation who are only heard of when attacking us.

Aye, a completely impartial body right there. Think the statement ended along the lines of 'not holding our breath'. It's a wonder the sound of rabid frothing from the East End wasn't audible in the background.

  15. Get used to it pal. When you combine the managers philosophy of looking at all markets and the minimal amount of money to buy new players we may see more loanees at Ibrox. We are not the only club exploiting that market and we have sent our own players on loan. McKay seems one ho has benefitted, who knows who else may return a better player.

Doesn't mean it's always the best thing for the club, pal.

Hopefully as I say above, the next time we attempt it, we make a better job of it.

no but on the wing we are short of numbers so its easier too get in the team where we are strong in the middle so its obv harder too get in , im bored now , you obv dont think we should have loan players , i dont have a problem with utilizing it , have a gd night mate im away too enjoy the darts

As I said on many an occasion, if they come in as standouts, or make a decent contribution, then I can see why in this day and age we'd utilize it. Enjoy the darts.

  16. you do realise oduwa plays on the wing and thompson is a cm ? And you do realise both oduwa and zel have both been out the team lately on the back of poor performances

Wasn't aware players had to play in the same position in order to critique them on overall performance. The latter would lead me to think both weren't the best pieces of business at the expense of Rangers players getting game time to prepare for next season and a whole myriad other reasons.

As I say, if we continue to go down this route then, particularly next year, lets hope if they must play, they can actually make a decent contribution. They will strengthen at the Meccano Dome, and we'll be expected to challenge right from the very off.

  17. Surely when a player is given a Rangers shirt and a game by the manager he's on the pitch representing the club no more no less. Think it's a bit patronising to think that these players don't appreciate the gravity of playing for Rangers. We are using these players to suit our needs, not developing them for the likes of Arsenal. If Warbs thinks they ain't good enough they'll be sent back.

Trust in the Manager. These are good times and it's only get better

Are we? Have you seen all their game time? A player like Weiss coming up - albeit not completely consistent in all games - suited both our ends; however, with these two, it's simply nothing of the sort. The latter is exactly what we are doing.

  18. walsh will get a chance when he gets fit , i trust the manager too do what is right for us so when he isnt giving our youths a run out then i believe its because they simply arent ready or good enough

So you think Oduwa has been good, however, Thompson isn't good enough; even although, when he has played, he's looked excellent?

We can agree to disagree, however, I think that they are in simply as they have to be given game time and not on merit. Thompson when he has appeared has look just as good. We can't be claiming that our youngsters aren't played as they aren't good enough and then simply gloss over the fact that the majority of the displays put on by the loan players have been average, let alone setting the heather alight. I reiterate, what is the point of having them here if that's the case. Maybe as Ingio pointed out, to get better in the future. Well, I hope the next batch to arrive next season are actually better than our own youth; so they might be able to earn a place on merit. Next season will not be a cake walk by any stretch of the imagination.

  19. who do you think we have in our youths ?

I don't think we have an abundance of talent, and I'm not saying we have a whole potential first team at that level waiting to come through, as is the accusation levied against many who make this point; however, I don't think the two loan forwards have done nearly enough to justify a clamber for selection, nor deny one of our boys having a run out. If we were given players who would actually make a telling contribution, being better than a majority of our first team squad, then I'd agree. Would prefer Rangers players to be playing, however, I'd see the justification.

In answer to the question, I'd like to see Hardie and Thompson get a run out. I'd also like to see Walsh given a fair crack after he gets himself fit. Ideally I'd like to see the young goalie get a game or two, however, with Kelly in front of him in the pecking order, that was probably never likely to happen.
