  1. waghorn could keep banging goals in then run down his contract so should we not play him , zel got another assist today so is that not contributing too a title push

Starting to enter into the realms of lunacy and / or being deliberately obtuse. Could say that about any player, although, I'm sure your more than aware of that. Is an assist at stupid-nil up contributing to a title push, if you want me to be equally disingenuous, then no, probably contributing fuck all. Works both ways. Scoring a winner in a title decider against Hibs in a one-nil victory might be. Showed fuck all sign of doing anything like that right enough.

Aye but they're not really Rangers players and they're not Scottish so they deserve abuse on and off the park :P

Thought Zalalem looked tidy today when he came on, always looking for the ball and his movement off the ball is excellent, for a non-Rangers player.

Would have sent on Hardie rather than Clark if I was nit picking.

If you'd prefer to see said EPL reserves take the place of 'Rangers players' then more power to yourself.

  2. so you dont think oduwa inproved us on the wings till someone tried too break his ankle , zel has been inconsistent in midfield but i think both have added good depth too the squad which we dont have much of

I think it is unfortunate Walsh picked up a relatively serious injury as I was hoping he kicked on. We are piss thin on the wings so any squad depth was probably welcome, however, for all the hype, I think that Oduwa for a majority of the time has flattered to deceive and on other occasions has look God awful.

Neither have been remotely good enough to take away twenty minutes from a Rangers youngster when your three-nil up at Dumbarton. That was the original point.

I hope that when we go down this road next year, as we probably shall, then we do a hell of a lot better.

  3. i dont think hardie is ready yet or will be good enough long term , the 3 loan players have improved our team , i would have liked too see thompson for halliday today , i dont see our youth games but i think the fact we had a bench with no defender on it today tells a story

I think Ball has been a decent addition to the squad, as for the two forwards; I think they are both vastly overrated by many on here, especially the Spurs player. and take potential game time away from a Rangers player. I'd say you could loosely expect them to have improved the squad, though, hardly the first team. Which, after all, is the main point of developing them for EPL teams.

  4. Why does it have to be the same level simple really the fans demand the same level 3-0 up or 10 up. Earn your shirt at our club don't just be given it.

Other then being touted as a future prospect and being on the books at Arsenal, what has he done / proven in much game time to deserve a Rangers shirt. Works both ways. He's regularly played - looked average - and been hooked on numerous occasions. Wouldn't say we'd be less likely to fall apart bringing him on than we would had it been one of our boys.

Incidentally, Thompson is a Rangers player, a player on our books. Doesn't matter that he didn't grow up in our academy - although it would be nice to have a team of Rangers supports from Scotland - he's a Rangers player and on our books.

  5. Have to agree with you mate, the Manager's thoughts for any game is not only for the 11 who start, but the additional subs who may have to be used.

Managers do not have the advantage of hindsight, unlike a few fans.

Well done Mr Warburton, keep doing what you're doing.

Hindsight? That is quite simply nonsense. Perhaps is we had brought three youngster on and had imploded, not that anyone was actually advocating that In the first place. We were three-nil up against Dumbarton. You didn't have to be Nostradamus to predict what was going to happen.

It's amazing, you'd think from some of the comments that the two loan forwards we have were akin to Xavi and Ronaldo. They've had little to no real fucking impact.

  6. your right mate we should have gave hardie 20 mins today and if he never got a hat trick then we would know he wasnt gonna cut it , we should prob send zelalem back tbh and tell wenger too get ox chamberlain or wilshire up or we dont want anyone

If your going to try and be facetious, you'd be better not being deliberately disingenuous at the same time.

If we are not receiving loan players who are standouts for Scottish football, or who barely improve our team in the second tier of Scottish football , then the point of having them here to develop them for EPL clubs is what exactly.

The bit about Hardie is sheer nonsense, as I'm one for giving our - read our - youngsters as much time as is possible to develop. Seems slightly contradicted by your not wanting them to be included for an Arsenal reserve. So which one is it then?

  7. If anyone thinks WM will be here for years upon years, then I'd have serious, serious doubts. I think he's doing a superb job, and I also think that his philosophy will be wanted and snapped up by an EPL team sooner rather than later.

Sorry if I care more about the future of Rangers than the development of an Arsenal B Team player, maybe it's the way football has gone and I should adopt a team in 'the best league in the world.' :drugang:

  8. I would say the justification is Arsenal not thinking 'you're not getting any more players from us'. And that's a good one as far as I can see. Zelalem hasn't had that much game time that I would be totally confident that Arsenal would be happy. Not to mention that, if he is going to come back, a subs appearance first was going to be likely, because he's been out for a good while.

In theory, they should be better next season.

Can be the only justification in my mind. The only reason any of them are here should be to be a standout in our team, or potentially give us an opportunity to get another top player on loan in the future. I'm sure Wenger doesn't give a fuck about Rangers, and that's fine, however, I couldn't care less about the development of an Arsenal youngster.

If we have someone such as Weiss come up and look a cut above on many an occasion, then although I'd prefer it to be a Rangers player playing, I can fully see the justification - as you say - Scottish football is not what it once was, and, even though it gives me the boak, the EPL is right on our doorstep and we must take that into account.

Without being anything like a standout, and in some games being completely anonymous, he's had more than enough opportunities to say he's been given playing time. The much maligned Law has come in over the last few games and has played better than him on most of his appearances. I'm not comparing them directly, however, it irks me somewhat that many people (and a lot do) think simply because they are touted as an Arsenal wonder kid, then they must be better than our youngsters. Taking a Weiss or the like is a whole different prospect to taking someone who is nowhere near the finished article and has gone almost no way to improving our team for a title push. Feels like we are developing a player for Arsenal for their future, whilst denying a Rangers player an opportunity.

Which brings me back to my point, they should be in the team on merit, or hope to fuck we end up with someone a hell of a lot better next, or the next again season.

  9. Yeah, but if our young guys are good enough they'll play too. Warbs isny daft.

Zelalem will improve too. He's not long 18. We get these guys to develop them. Arsenal will expect us to do that if they're going to give us anyone more developed than Zelalem in the future.

Strikes me MW will get the balance right.

Changed days, my man. I think we all need to get used to that.

With a score line as it was, having already brought on the usual two subs, can't see the justification for bringing him on instead of seeing a Rangers player get a run out. Exactly the time to see if a Hardie (or the like) can cut it at Rangers.

I could see the point if since they had arrived they had seen bugger all game time, however, they've had an abundance of it, including many starts. Let's not think here they haven't been developed.

Personally, I couldn't give a toss is he develops, particularly at the expense of the development of a Rangers player, however, as you make the point, if we are relying on EPL loans to give us a boost next season for a title challenge, I hope they are of a better standard than the two we got from Arsenal or Spurs.

  10. Some usual responses, the point stands.

If we don't give these guys game time, we don't have access to that market again in the future.

With a bit of luck we'll get a better standard of loan players in the top div.

An actual intelligently thought out point, who'd have thought it. The only possible justification, however, he's had plenty of game time and looked bang average on many an occasion.

If they are good enough, they will play. Maybe I'm of a vintage that thinks we aren't a feeder club for the fucking EPL. We are Rangers.

  11. Totally disagree, we can't have passengers next season. When we have a small lean squad reliability is key and a player who constantly suffers injury problems isn't going to benefit us.

Plus he's getting on now, let's look at young players who can come in and challenge.

    This (tu)

Next season is probably the least opportune time for us to be carrying passengers. All dependent on budgets, however, we will be needing an additional injection of quality, not someone sitting on the treatment table for half a season.

Other examples provided by people are all well and good, the mitigating factor, however, being the vast majority of them don't have legs made out of crisps. Spends an inordinate amount of time out injured and the minute you even hear we are playing on a plastic pitch you want him about twenty miles away from the ground on a match day.

  12. He isn't rank. Very few, if any, rank players get to sign for Liverpool. You really have to be naive in its extreme to realise that our style of play is just not suited to his positioning, speed and overall play.

It's as clear as day. (tu)

He has been murder for us, but it's easy to see why. (tu)

Did you see half the mince BR brought in

  13. I think he's a Championship or SPFL2 standard player. I like that he's a Bear and I wouldn't fault his commitment or work rate at all, I just don't think his finishing is good enough for us and certainly not for the SPL.

He might fare better in a 442 system, but I wouldn't change the way we play to accommodate him. We cant afford to be sentimental with players when we are trying to move the playing philosophy of the club forward. I think he'll probably be surplus once if we buy another striker. I'd keep him as back up as there is no doubt he'll try, but it really depends how much the boy wants to play regular football.

The move where he blazed well over bar is more to what we have become accustomed to, and at Rangers, exactly what is going to happen on a more than regular basis. Terrifying to think of him being responsible to fire us towards an SPL title, even from the bench. It's just not going to happen.

Love the effort and commitment, however, we are too big a club and stage.

  14. Was hoping that it would work out for him, although, not for a minute complaining about the management team we have now. Wish it would have worked, and under the circumstances, did a fair job. At least we actually appeared to be a relatively cohesive footballing unit, and at times played a bit of decent stuff.

Wish him all the best and hopefully see him back at Ibrox one day in some capacity. He's a top bloke.

  15. I'm honestly not taking the piss here, but the guy just sees things other players can't. It was eye of the needle stuff.

Must be frustrating for him, but he is much better coming on for us with half an hour to go. Would have loved for him to get on the score-sheet today.

    :craphead:

In all seriousness, he plays some fantastic through balls and can have a real influence in game, as we saw under Stuart McCall toward the end of last season. Next game, you'll hardly think he's on the pitch. Really frustrating player actually. On his day the boy has talent.

Mister C must have shed a small tear with that pass.

  16. I'm still beaming with pride that we have Holt in our team. He'd already played a blinder by the time Halliday got sent off, but when that happened, the wee man showed true balls and grabbed the game by the scruff. He did the running of two men, back-tracked as well as a threat going forward.

Of course, the other 9 also played their part, and the management to an extend as well.....even Clark chipping in with a goal. However, Holt was the difference. Had that been last seasons team, I'm sure we'd have either drawn that game or worse.

    Agree on all fronts :tank:
