  1. Historic times to be living, and for the rest of our lifetime we will never seen another Queen reign. I will be going with my 7 year old daughter to sign the book of condolence tonight at Glasgow City chambers. She may have lived a privileged life but almost entirely in service of the country. She did so with utter devotion, dignity and grace, that I feel it important to write a few words of thanks. Without widening the conversation out too much, the past few days it has shown for me the importance of having a Constitutional Monarch as part of a thriving democracy, and the importance of the conventions of state, behaviour and governance which makes the UK arguable the most successful and stable countries in modern times.
  2. I get the feeling he has lost the dressing room a bit. Mcgregor out warming up for me was a visible sign all is not well, as I can't imagine Gio sent him out, and could be seen as a bit of insubordination.
  3. Tickets bought for me and my daughter looking forward to it.
  4. Over the top, but I get the sentiments. I think this season we could see a level of consistency of both teams that we haven't seen for years. I know, it was *reasonably* close last year, but we both went through difficult patches... I see this season as possibly one where we both are churning out wins. So we need to keep the momentum up, and keep on winning.
  5. These are players that until a year or two ago were paying to play. You're also talking about women who systematically haven't had training from early ages to the same level as lads, and even at the top level have coaches who wouldn;t be coaching women's football if they were good enough for the men's game. So there's clearly going to be a massive difference in levels of quality between the men's and women's games.
  6. All the group games are going to be shown on PAOK TV on Youtube. https://www.Rangers.co.uk/article/Rangers-head-to-greece-for-champions-league-football/2i50vuuETdnVAeUo5lA8AE
  7. Another professional performance. The players always look eager for more, and haven't been letting up. Great to see! On to the CL game! Anyone know where to catch the game?
  8. Yep, agree... I was shocked at that scoreline... It will head the way of the men's league and be a two team league pretty soon I think too, as there will be no way City can keep up with us, them and other teams with established professional men's teams over a few years... I think Hearts look to be making a couple of decent signings, and could push to be that fourth and ultimately third team in th eLeague.
  9. I can remember it (or at least I can recall the feeling when he scored), and it was incredible. It wasn't just a case of him hitting it as hard as he could. His consistency to keep the ball low and hard was incredible.
  10. She was the beating heart of the performance on Sunday there, pretty much went through her. The thing i, this is a hobby for most of those players. They probably pay to play, no better than a pub team, whilst we are fully pro. If you look back at the beginning of the men's game, there were a lot of these one sided games before the professionalism of the game expanded. I don't think it was the right decision at this stage by the SWPL to increase the size of top league with so many amateur (not even semi-pro) teams.
  11. I have only seen him play once, and that was at the weekend there against Cumbernauld. His movement and touch was great, but passing was a bit off, and he should have been sent off for persistent fouling like he must have had a good 7 or 8 niggling fouls in spells throughout the game. So I think he's a bit away from getting a game during the league for now, maybe in the league cup he'll get a runout for a bit, but a risk for me in the league.
  12. Decent enough. French U-19 international, doesn't have the presence Westrup had, but she's young and will hopefully have improved since she left.
  13. A bit surprised with that. Docherty (I think) was vice-captain last year and performed consistently well, so thought she have deserved the armband. Though, I don't doubt Hill will be a great captain.
  14. Maybe unpopular opinion here, but if you're spending your money standing or sitting in the pishing rain following the B Team or women's team, then I think it's entirely fair that you get MrGers points and rewarded for your loyalty to the club. I can't commit due to timings for a lot of home men's game, but know that almost all sundays at 4pm, I should be free, so that's £90 to the club for a ticket for me and my daughter that would not normally going to the club. The whole point of MyGers is the holistic approach to supporting the full club in all it's guises. In Germany, the clubs have multiple branches such as pro basketball teams, chess teams, women's teams etc. etc, so why shouldn't someone be rewarded for supporting the club?
  15. Not sure anyone really knows... My gut feel is that this side will be decent and hard to beat, just because of how well the Belgian national team play, you'd think that the domestic game might be at a good level. That being said, if we have ambitions of playing Champions League football regularly, we should be aiming well above the likes of this team.
  16. I know it's a pre-season friendly, but to lose only 2-0 in women's football, with the gulf between the teams is pretty good going. Will be hard for a lot of fans who might start watching women's football to understand the massive differences in ability, funding and development between us and the rest of Europe. The Scottish game feels like it's lightyears behind the likes of France, Spain, Germany, England etc. in terms of professionalism.
  17. The tims were the title winning team 97/98, and out of the Scottish players in our team, who would have reasonably had a decent chance of getting a game or made the squad better? Ally McCoist is the only one I can remember there being any real argument over. Maybe Goram, but if I recall right, he took a bit of the huff when Leighton was lined up as #1.
  18. I am a bit surprised that Reilly has left, and really surprised Westrup has left, but I suppose we'll probably see a high turnover of player while the league grows. Could be a good sign of upping standards even further, even though undefeated in the league, we were still put out of 2 domestic cup competitions.
  19. The quality is getting better, but apart from us, them, Glasgow City, and maybe Hibs, the rest of the league is really poor. However, with the game growing, it will hopefully change. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, or interest, but those that I know who have given the women's game the chance have been impressed and started following the teams. I know my 7 year old daughter is more interested in the women's team as she can relate to girls playing. I have taken her to games, bought her strips and scarves, money which I probably wouldn't have spent if it wasn't for the women's team. Anyway, undefeated through a league season is impressive, and is a great achievement.
  20. I thought of this this morning... get it round you Lee Bowyer!
  21. Totally still trying to get my head around last night... apart from 15min spell in middle of second half, I never felt we weren't going to win the game... but my arse was making buttons the last 5 minutes.
  22. Absolutely gutted about this. He epitomized for me what the club meant as much as any manager or player could. I hope it offers some consolation to his family that he meant so much to so many fans.
  23. It's mad to think that we would not want to promote the game, and the club to potentially half of the population of Scotland.
  24. Yeah, we are the subject of all that hate. Removing us from the league and then working our way up definitely reduce the quality of the league.
