  1. you could be right - just once clubs come out and say they are going to vote against they can't backtrack on that and by making it public now the pressure they put on the rest to also vote no will grow and grow - could turn out Sellik will be the only ones to vote us in! - without us the diddy clubs can run the show whatever way they like
  2. that's a good theory but the vote on 4 july is a simple yes or no - should they admit the newco Rangers to the SPL; only if they vote us in can they then apply sanctions that might see us demoted to Div1. If they vote no, they can't apply any further sanctions and the only option for us is to seek admission to SFL - they'll not allow us to jump in at Div1 so it#ll be Div3. If Hearts and Dundee Utd are going to vote no to us being is the SPL they only need 3 others to either vote against us or abstain and we are out. I can't see Well, Sellik, Hibs voting us in can you?
  3. at least Arsenal and St Etienne were ready to put their historic connections with Rangers to the fore in agreeing to the CVA offer - makes it even more sickening that our shares in Arsenal were sold -
  4. i don't believe they will vote us out of the SPL - they know that's a huge risk for the Scottish game. I think they'll keep us there but hit us with a pile of sanctions that make it impossible for us to seriously challenge for the title for 2 or 3 years. that way the "fans" get to humilate us and have a good laugh, the clubs keep on getting their gate money, the TV money remains and from Green's perspective it more likely that Rangers can turn a profit in the SPL than in Div 3 or Div 1 so there'll be no complaints there. I know this is not something most of us want to consider but it's got to be the most likely result post July 4th.
  5. i fear we're about to get really turned over. they'll vote us back into the SPL to save their own financial losses if we were to go to div3 then they'll strip titles; deduct points and probably hit us with a transfer embargo. I'd be afraid that the history issue means little to Green what he wants is a profitable club right now and the best way for him to try and secure that is to have us in the SPL no matter what they throw at us. personally, i'd like to see us enter div 3 and restore our honour by winning promotion - many bears feel this but Green won't see any financial benefit from going to div 3
  6. The OP is dead right. Anyway everyone has forgotten that Sellik became a newco in 1995 when Fergus McCann created a PLC - didn't hear much bleating about taking thier history off them.
  7. This is a stupid question I know but if we simply run out of cash in June and can't pay wages to players or staff is that it then? We're bust, liquidated?
  8. This is the most informative interview i've heard since this all kicked-off. As we would all hope, Paul Clark is clearly very professional and the good news is the administrators obviously want to manage this away from liquidation if at all possible. There's going to be pain but the club will get through this and if we get decent buyers we could end up in a much sounder financial position.
  9. It's worthwhile looking at the experience of Fiorentina in Italy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACF_Fiorentina Different legal set up but basically Fiorentina went out of business, just ceased to exist. They reformed with a new owner and now nobody gives a toss Fiorentina are Fiorentina just as Rangers will be Rangers whatever the legal steps needed to create a new club are.
  10. We could be renamed Glasgow Rangers
  11. I heard Neil Doncaster on the radio the other night saying that even if Rangers were liquidated, the new club that would be formed would own "Rangers" share in the SPL and while they would have to reapply for membership of the SPL there wasn't really anywhere else for a new Rangers to go. He was trying to close off the question as to whther Rangers could drop down to the SFL - he said that isn't an option. So it seems to be SPL or nothing. If you believe him....
  12. What they've just said on BBC Scotland news doesn't sound good - if the administrators are saying it's been a frustrating day it sounds as if some individuals are not prepared to work for the greater good. Looks like redundancies are likely, these guys can't muck around for too long - they've to save £250k this week!
  13. Think you are right there mate - the 6 pointed star is a strong reminder of our history - definately buy a few...
  14. mind you, if I win the lottery tonight that'd help a bit!
  15. I think what they are getting at is that if a club ceases to exist then it's badge, shirt etc... which are effectively trademarks die with them. Whether what this article says the Italian clubs did would be applicable in Scotland I don't know but I think we need to fact the fact that if Rangers FC is liquidated, a "new" Rangers would begin life with a new badge etc... I agree with other posters here the history of Rangers is a constant both for us and for others - even if the club has to be reformed under a new name there will be a continuity between the achievements of the past and our club's future. On the issue of a new name, I've seen that Middlesborough were refloated by calling the "company" a new name but the team just carried on being Middlesborough - the badge changed though and I think in the case of these Italian clubs their badges have all changed.
