  1. Optimistic, evolving into determined enthusiasm to get the job done. Rangers forever!!
  2. It's a bit on the cruel side, and not very sporting, but it's all in the banter (no offence intended): Bobby Sands Ha Ha Ha Bobby Sands Ha Ha Ha Paul McBride Ha Ha Ha Paul McBride Ha Ha Ha Repeats Or insert another name(s) as appropriate for comedy effect (they don't even needed to be deceased - as death is the one true guarantee on life)
  3. If we join the English league system, with ten years AFC will have joined us, or went semi-professional. The big money is down south, if we're bold enough to go got it.
  4. Not all east coasters matey!! However, to get it right up Septic, I'd love to see a giant 'Ulster-Scots' flag in the stadium at the next home game. They'd be raging. Some help from the DUP and UUP to spike Alex Salmond's guns would also be appreciated!! Come on the Williamites!! Down with the Jacobites!!
  5. That doesn't sense mate! The song would be directed at Septic fans only ... Why don't septic fans go home ... To wherever that is. The song's a fair shout!! And the more ideas the better .., the more ideas, better chance if uncovering a real gem that'll have 'em squirming!!
  6. If Walter and Ally are at the helm, I'd have complete and absolute confidence the money would be used sensibly, responsibly and in the manner we'd all want. Walter Smith would be my choice as 'captain of the ship'. I will definitely be contributing. Onward and upward from here lads.
  7. The essence of what I'm saying is: 1 - with the few modest changes I've proposed to TBB, I can see no reasonable objection to it being accepted for singing at football matches. 2 - the changes would make TBB no more or less offensive than 'The Flower of Scotland'. 3 - SDM didn't know what to do with TBB issue and ran away from it. With a new owner, this could be a oncein a generation opportunity to get TBB back. If it took the Club playing the music over the loudspeakers , with the words up on the big screen karaoke style, I'd say do it! However, the second element if what I'm saying is, if we all accept that TBB will not be making a Club approved return to our terraces (perhaps likely); we need a new signature tune. If you sit in Ibrox, as I do, you hear songs starting on fits and starts, and people generally unsure what you are and are not allowed to sing these days. That's a decision that if you get it wrong, you're likely to feel the long arm of the law on your collar. To resolve this, and make Ibrox truly intimidating again, wall of noise for 90+ mins; we effectively need a new signatur song; or atleast a Club approved (legally checked) old song. We can do more to intimidate opposition fans, and the officials (who have had the temerity, to give some right dodgy decisions against us this season). What do you think? I'd be especially keen on your response if you go / have chance to go to home games, in which case many of you will recognise the fits and starts singing I'm posting about.
  8. Wise words. Care must certainly be taken with this issue. For protection of the Club from UEFA; and the fans from the SNP / sniping press. My proposal is very much under the caveat the Club would need to decide if it wanted to argue the case, on a point of freedom of speech. I have no doubt the Septic community are trying to gag us. A key point for me us the phrase bigot. To be a bigot, you have to be unreasonable. If our case is historically accurate and logically sound it is reasonable, and an entitlement under freedom of speech and expression; subject of course to careful legal check. That said, given TBB I'd currently banned, Do we want to see it returned in some form (for the football banter)? If not, we need to agree on a new signature song, to create the 90+ minutes wall of noise intimidation many people would like to see, hear and participate in.
  9. And page after page thought ... This would work well at Rangers, and would stop Septic's corrosive propaganda dead in it's tracks; allowing us to return to the moral centre and high ground. In terms if the football banter, it'd leave Septic in a rage. Get in!!
  10. During debate in recent post 'club ethos moving forward' I was surprised at the amount of secular and anti-religious feedback. With the sales of the Club nearing, I'd like to hear from the prospective new owners what their principles are, and what there long term plan comprises. I'm keen for the fan base to be involved in this, and if possible positively steer the new owners to support fair play and ethics in keeping with the long history and heritage of our people which is circa 500 years old. I'm hoping for sensible mature debate here. I welcome agreement and disagreement, however to distinguish genuine Teddy Bears from Septic infiltrators (who want to burn down our community), I'd appreciate if you do disagree, if you could be kind enough to state why, and preferably provide your own positive contribution to the debate. Statement of fact: Rangers Football Club had a long history and link with the Reformed Christian Church(s). Question: moving forward, would you like to retain this link, or become secular in outlook? Proposed answers (which I invite you to select from or add to): 1 - their is no place in football for religion, we should be a secular club moving forward. 2 - I am non religious, but I acknowledge and respect the Club's history in this regard, I'm happy for the Club to continue these links, though I have no strong wish to participate on the religious direction of the Club moving forward. 3 - I believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible, and would wish to see the Bible move forward on this basis. Note - this thinking is in keeping with the Septic side of the fence; modified by some if their more bizarre cult type policies (no offence intended - freedom of speech). 4 - I believe in a modern, reformed Christian church, respectful of all cultures and religions. Why is this important, and what has it got to do with football? A - the public sale of the Club represents a once in a generation opportunity to define who we are and what we are, in a positive and constructive manner. B - the Club had been under constant attack for many years, seeking to undermine our Club and community. Unresolved it gags freedom of speech and potentially inhibits people from many cultures investing in the Club or working for us, or playing for us. It is imperative we deal with this threat firmly and with finality, to give us as strong a platform as possible moving forward. What do I think? I'm option 4) modern reformed; and I would encourage the Club and potential buyers to publically adopt this policy. In support of my case, and for the religious out there, and there will be some, I'd respectfully encourage you to the a book by the American Biblical Scholar Marcus Borg, entitled 'how to read the Bible again for the first time: taking the Bible seriously but not literally. When I read the book, I found it spiritually enlightening, and page after
  11. As further proof: I attend church today with my family earlier today. No holy water in sight. No bead rattling. During the Lord's Prayer - we all asked for forgiven of debt as we forgive our debtors. No offence was intend by this post. C'mon the Famous
  12. I find the accusations if being a Septic infiltrator bizarre. They are absolutely incorrect, however, as Timothy is always watching, I need to be careful in what proofs I give. I'm hoping this just site banter and not a serious attack on my good standing in the community!! Here's an attempt at proof though: I've seen Rangers lift all three domestic trophies; and by that I mean I've been at the game. I was also at the game where we lifted the cup winners cup, but I was not in Barcalona. Where was I and what wad the game? Many genuine Teddy Bears won't even know the answer, because if you weren't at the game, you wouldn't know. WATP
  13. TheAlukoMan's idea's were brilliant. I'd love to hear these belted out at Ibrox to create the intimidating wall of noise we all want. Question, if we were to settle on these, how do we organise it moving forward? Ideally the Club would pump out the music pre-match; with a statement and the words pre published including the programme and fanzines. 90 minutes plus 'wall of noise' only will do!!
  14. I'm of the view, more could be done to improve the singing at Ibrox; to inspire the team, and create a wall of noise to intimidate the opposition (and aid match officials get those difficult decisions right and in our favour). TBB was our signature tune to do this; and I remain mucho annoyed that Septic have managed to get this banned by UEFA. I'm especially annoyed that our lawyers have not succeeded in getting UEFA acceptance of a modest change in words to address any reasonable concerns they may have. Given the patent progress in the Northern Irish peace process, I have no real objections to refreshing and modernising TBB; to make it less offensive, and thereby protect our heritage and our right to freedom of speech and expression. With the imminent change in Club owner, I'd like to see this idea resurrected. To make TBB historically accurate, and thereby beyond criticism, I propose the following changes: 1 - change 'Fenion blood' to 'the River Boyne'; thereby recording the valiant crossing of the Boyne by Williamite forces; whilst under heavy Jacobite fire. 2 - change 'Brigton Derry Boys' to 'Starving Derry Boys'; in memory of the circa 8000 ulster-scots who perished during the 1689 siege. The foregoing could take take months, if not years, pending which I propose the fans need to settle on a temporary and alternative signature song. My proposals for this (comment and debate welcome), include: A - church hymns which are beyond reproach, yet because of their religious nature would have Septic rabid with rage, such as: - God Save the Queen. - Will your anchor hold in the storms of life. - Amazing Grace. - The Lord is my Shepherd. Alternatively, and picking up from the historical fact that within 30 years of the siege of Derry many Ulster-Scots had emigrated to the Americas and became central in the fight against aboriginal americians, the American declaration of independence, the confederate forces etc; we could adopt as a signature tune a country or western style song such as: - Ghostriders in the Sky All in all - what's your thoughts? To distinguish genuine bears from Septic infiltrators; if you disagree, please specify why, and preferably provide your own constructive / alternative proposals. No offence was intended in the penning of this 'freedom of speech' article.
  15. I like Fosters!! Anyway, my point was, making the gesture of printing a charity on the strip, could go a long way to rebuilding the reputation of the Club, which did take a battering during the CW era. I accept and acknowledge we need money, however that does not necessarily mean we do anything for money. I liked the idea some of you constructively proposed for a different sponsor for the kids tops which could include the youth teams, from memory when we played in France in Europe, our shirt sponsor was changed, so it can be done, and I think it should. If we were to go for a charity sponsor, on the main strip or the youth team strips, if not IFRC, other options include: - Childline (for the Septic banter) BJK - Help for Heros (a good cause, that will also send Timothy foam at the mouth, rabid with rage) - Erskine hospital (another Septic rage inducer) - the Poppy appeal (albeit to the scholars of Scottish football history, in terms of footballers sacrifice during the Great War, mention must be given to Hearts and McCrea's Battalion.). Lest we forget. In any event, out main sponsor themselves might be happy enough to run with the two brand option (one for adult strips, one for youth strips). If we don't ask, we'll never know.
  16. Over the years, our football tops have often advertised alcohol. Like most football fans, I enjoy a few beers on match day. Whilst I'm happy for our main sponsor to be a brewer, I'm uncomfortable with this being so prominent on our strips. This was especially true when my kids were growing up advertising beer just seemed wrong. Whilst I'd be happy to see our training tops and the like advertising beer, I propose the strip itself should not. Instead I propose our great Club should take the moral and ethical Hugh ground, and like Barcalona, reserve our main strip sponsor for a charity. What do you think? I suggest thus would go a long way to restoring our reputation within the footballing community. If you think this a good idea, please feel free which charity you would like Rangers to adopt. Personally, I would suggest IFRC, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Be the best.
  17. If RFFF was a registered charity every £1 we donate increases to £1.25 if we confirm were taxpayers etc . If this can be done, it certainly should be. It would make HMRC 20% of the contribution; and potentially the biggest contributor. Happy days.
  18. I'd prefer a 'council of elders', including the likes of Walter Smith, Sandy Jardine, etc; as stewards and guardians of the club; with no single person in absolute dictorial control. That way we can hopefully avoid the madness of SDM. He meant well, he wanted to win forever, but the cost was unsustainable.
  19. I would urge all the potential buyers (who are supporters of the club) with genuine interest in the competitive wellbeing of the club to: 1 - offer and if called upon to donate their funds to RFFF And 2 - provide their support to Ally and Walter to act as good stewards in the disposal of the fund. This should allow all financial players to majorly contribute. If the want public acclaim, the stewards can ensure they get it. If the want anonymity, this can also be provided. If we can max the fund, we should be able to stop any 'hostile takeover'; the main risk of which would arise if the price to buy Rangers 'lock-stock' was low. No room for ego from the buyers. They need to find the means to work collaboratively. Together we are stronger.
  20. Do you disagree with all my points or just some bits? Why do you disagree? Do you have an alternative proposal? Constructive reasoned feedback welcomed.
  21. I don't need 'shares' to contribute, I just want to help.
