  1. The Treasury are more likely to be helpful, if we have some heavy weight political backing. Recently the Scottish Conservatives debated re-branding as they were deemed 'toxic' north of the border. I would urge us to resurrect this idea, and seek to create a confederation between the Scottish Conservatives, the DUP and the UUP. If we can pool all the Rangers vote behind a single political movement, David Cameron would be wise to treat with us. We could even promote some of the English policies, for example 'free Schools' to set up Christian faith schools, of a grammar school nature, founded upon the heritage of the fan base. What's this got to do with football? Such changes would make us very powerful, and help us stand up against Septic, who's supporters are becoming increasingly influential without counter balance from our side of the fence. Together we are stronger In God we trust
  2. I'd urge the fund to set up as a registered charity, that way, for every pound the collect, they can claim something like a further 25% from HMRC. If we succeed in setting up as a registered charity, HMRC would end up the biggest contributor to the fund!! Get in!! I'd urge the club to also consider converting to registered charity status to benefit from similar tax breaks - perhaps based on securing and promoting the covenanters ulster-scots heritage of the fan base.
  3. When the detail is ironed out and agreed, I'd like to see: 1 - a news conference to introduce the fund. 2 - confirm it is the official fund, with the backing off the key people like Walter & Ally. 3 - to set out, in writing the objectives of the fund. 4 - to publish the detail, for example is it set up as a charity, would VAT be deducted from any payment made to the club etc; and to what extent can we use the club facilities, e.g. A mini-league of legends v legends at Ibrox 5 - confirmation that any potential rival finds accept this as official, will hand over any funds they have secured, and direct any future enquiries to the official fund.
  4. If there are several, broadly similar cash bids, it would be easier for us to comment, thereby influence the decision, if each bid group provided a manifesto style document to explain their vision, ethics and strategy for taking the Club forward.
  5. See also my recent thread 'club ethos moving forward'. Would be interested in your thoughts. I'd like to see much stronger ties, including political alliance, a confederation between the DUP, the UUP and the Scottish Conservatives. Together we are stronger. In God we trust.
  6. Ally has had a tough time of it. I'd happily give him 2-3 years to earn his spurs, and help stabilise the club. I have no doubt, whatsoever, that Ally is an winner to his core, and could go on to great things with club. Remember the 2nd half against Septic at Ibrox. We smashed them. Ally also has signicant TV experience. If after several years it ain't working, I'd be minded to make changes to backroom staff first. If Ally himself is exhausted after the stress of this ot future seasons, I'd understand him wanting to move upstairs, into Director roll. Stuart McCall has been impressive though. Could a McCoist / McCall be a dream team of the future? Perhaps. In any event I'd like to see some if the legends become more publically involved, including the likes if Graeme Souness and Richard Gough. Together we are stronger.
  7. Why do you stop priests from marrying? Why do you stop women becoming priests? What is wrong with you? Equal rights for all. We are the people. In God we trust.
  8. Do HMRC tend to waive the penalties and interest, if the debt is paid? I suspect the is a degree if wiggle room / negotiation; so long as the original sum is paid. I think the punitive nature of the penalties, is to force you to deal with them sooner rather than later, otherwise they'll remove the Directors and replace them with people who will play the game / generally stick to the rules. Hopefully, under a knew owner, who breeds confidence, HMRC would accept a fair and reasonable settlement, and we can get on with winning football matches!! C'mon the 'Gers!!
  9. Prince Andrew. He served in the Forces; and has many wealthy friends and contacts, including people in the Middle East!! Failing which, a safe group of 'elders' with strong ties to the Club. Whilst I would welcome sponsorship and donation from foreign sources; I would be very concerned if the Club was owned by someone with limited care for the Club; and/or only a passing fancy for football. I mean, look at the state Hearts are in! And Portsmouth are in an even worse state, stumbling from administration to crisis and back to administration.
  10. Good post. I wouldn't trust anyone close to SDM or CW. I would urge a small group of 'elders' to convene; rather than just one person, and I'd prefer to see people with real gravitas to come forward. They would become stewards and guardians of the club. Given the pressure, only volunteers would do. However, ideally would be linked by past history to the Club, or organisations and associations deeply rooted in the Club's cultural history and heritage.
  11. Why do you think I'm a 'taig'? Given I'm a life long Rangers fan ... That's quite an insult to be giving. Notwithstanding, what is the essence of your case? In an effort to reduce your concern, I offer the following 'proofs': First ever Rangers game: Alex McDonald's testimonial HMFC 2-3 RFC First ever Rangers game at Ibrox: RFC 1-3 Bayern Munich (RFC scored first - Mark Walters penalty) First ever Old firm game: CFC 1-3 RFC (John Brown scored a belter on the last minutes) Only Hampden old firm game 1-0 to RFC (Super Ally) - Robertson got sent off after about 6 minutes; it absolutely pelted with rain. I was ins seat the Rangers end; but the roof stopped a few seats away; so I got soaked. I've been to several European away games, including Villareal, Sporting Lisbon and the UEFA cup final. Or is it the Union Flag tattoo'd on my arm? Or the fact I know it's called a Union Flag (only a Union Jack on the jackstaff of a ship). Football + Religion + Politics + British and Proud = Rangers WATP In God we trust.
  12. No, the best way to 'ram it up them' is to join the English league system and be a success; and then watch them: A) slowly choke to death due to lack of sporting challenge, resulting in drop in revenue streams, and inability to attract top players to challenge in Europe. B) struggle with the loss of face of following us to England, a fair and pleasant land their fan base hates forever. However if we do stay in Scotland, next time we're champions will certainly be sweet. In any event, we absolutely smashed them at Ibrox earlier in the season; and we were very unlucky away. Lack of goal line technology cheated us of a valuable draw.
  13. We're proud of being British. Rangers joining the English league system is fairly logical. Keltic hate the British, they hate Rangers fans and they hate the English. They hate the Army. They hate wearing poppies. There's no way they deserve to play in England.
  14. Glasgow is in the UK. As is Cardiff and Swansea. Our fan base sweeps across Scotland and Northern Ireland. I have no concerns about us moving to the English league system. In due course, home games every other week against the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool et al. If the club gets liquidated; or If the club gets demoted to the lowest league, surely better to fight our way up to the premiership than the SPL? The only reason for staying would be because UEFA , the FA and/or the police prevented it.
  15. 2012 has certainly been a grim year. Thank goodness spring is on its way - sun and warmth and hopefully ... the Club getting tentatively back onto it's feet. Recuperation might take a bit of time, and we'll be a more humble group. Yet time is a great healer, and over time our strength will return, and in due course we will strong again. The question being - is becoming champions of Scotland again enough? Or should we aim for higher goals like world club champions? To do that would realistically require us to join the English league, and build our way to the top over many years, and involve much hard work. It would also be a long term plan, and in this world of short termism and lack of patience, would we have the collective will to stay the distance? If there was a crystal clear objective, I believe we would have the will, and the stubborn determination to see the job through to the end, even if it took 15 years plus to get there. Rangers Football Club, champions of the world, now that's an objective that should whet all our appetites. In God we trust.
  16. I voted no. If you stop new people, you stop new ideas and kill fresh debate. At this time especially, people need a vehicle to vent their concern. Furthermore, the forum provides an effective method of communication, which should enable us to galvanise and mobilise as a single unit. The more people that read it and contribute the better.
  17. Whyte knew about his previous bans as a Director; and which would appear to nullify his entitlement to become the Owner. Either: A - SDM didn't know; didn't check; and it's buffoonery all round. Or B - SDM did know, CW and SDM knew it was going to end in catastrophe, and CW volunteered to be the fall guy.
