NO manager can win this league with us until the investment is adequate enough to bring in quality to match the scum, so it aint happening.

Because we’ve made poor decisions and wasted any money we have spent. Three straight summers we’ve had to overhaul the squad and buy double digit players. If we spend wisely we can be in a position to only buy 2-3 players of real quality in each window.

Aye let’s sack this one and get another in then sack him and get another one in and sack him and get another one in.

The onwership of our club is the problem when the support wake up to this fact we might move forward.

Yes but you should only stick to a manager if you believe you’ve made the right choice and believe he can be successful. I personally can’t see the manager winning the league so I think the board should admit their mistake, sack him and take the time to get the right man this time. Yes, they are at fault for hiring him in the first place (and I think the personal responsible for hiring him should probably go too now) but I think the board have a done a good job in backing the manager to have a squad that should finish comfortably second. We only play them four times a season and in a one-off game anything can happen but we should be looking to win 85-90% of our games against the rest. The transfer window there should’ve  been our last one to majorly overhaul the squad as the plan should be to keep adding 2-3 quality players each window to build a title-winning squad.

I just feel the proof is in the pudding. There's no enough coming through to a decent standard IMO.

Each of the past 3 years he's been here we've ended up saying next batch, next batch, next batch ... he can't seem to refine them and polish them and put them into the first team as first team ready players. Was told only the other week the focus is now on the next lot of 16's which seems to be the default standpoint.

McCrorie, A Wilson and Barjonas all look good prospects from what I’ve seen and why should try and get them in the team when the chance arises. A Wilson and Barjonas should be playing before the likes of Danny Wilson and Jason Holt and it’s only through playing that they will improve and cement themselves in the first team. Arguably this is the time when we should be pitching youngsters in as the league looks unlikely. I think Mulholland has done a good job implementing the games against foreign opponents too. I was very impressed with the calibre of teams they’ve managed to arrange fixtures against.

  4. Agreed, he played very well. I’ve seen a couple of people mention him for the second goal but I put no blame on him for that. Cardoso can see the whole thing playing out and once he sees griffiths making the run he should absolutely match it.

Okay, we bring in a new manager and how much closer would that bring us? While he's bringing in his own tactics, players and way of doing things?

It takes time, look at celtic and how settled they are. They've had players for ages and have only added 2-3 players over the summer. Meanwhile we've completely redid our squad. Use your fucking head.

I agree we can’t keep changing managers. But we have to stick with one who we think will be successful. I personally can’t see Caixinha winning the league here so I think the board need to admit their mistake and time the time to find the right man this time.

Bang on. I'm not even talking about Savco, we struggle against the other clubs and could end up third or fourth again. Don't tell me a half decent manager would not have us comfortably second and beating the fourth best side in Luxembourg. My choice would have been Tommy Wright. And Pedro should have received his jotters after the Progress match. IF we beat Motherwell, and that's a bif if,it will be more of the same against Savco in the final. We will win zero under this guy,and will struggle to even finish second. With our budget and squad that is unacceptable.

Yeah I think it all traces back to someone. You can blame the board (or whoever made the decision) for hiring Caixinha and putting him in a position he’s not qualified for. But he has to take blame for the performances on the field and if you say the players aren’t good enough then I think he was given a decent enough size budget to find players who should finish comfortable second in this league.

I personally don’t believe Caixinha will be successful long-term and win us the league so why should we prolong the inevitable? Get rid and put Murty in charge until we find the right guy this time.

We want to win the league.  Winning a league is about quality, and consistency, over a 38 game season.  celtic are currently spending more money on player assets in terms of transfer fees and wages than every other Scottish top-tier club combined.  celtic will win consistently in Scottish football and in fact haven't lost a game domestically for well over a year now.  Sacking our manager wont double our budget and allow us to start competing with celtic.

Is there a vastly superior manager waiting to come in?  If he does, will the board hand him £20m to spend on players?  I don't think sacking Pedro will be the solution to all our problem.

Yes over a season I agree. But in terms of this manager that’s 3 times he’s faced celtic and 3 teams we’ve been dominated and not really looked like winning. That’s where my point about a one-off game comes in. But again, we’ve only played them once and we’re 8 points behind. We’re spending superior amounts to every other team in the league so why aren’t we streaks ahead of them? I’m not sure who else there is who could come in and put money in but whoever was responsible for hiring Caixinha should probably go now too.

celtic have double our budget and you can see that our there on the pitch.  They have better player assets in most positions and a very strong bench.  Without financial investment we wont be able to compete with them no matter how many times we change the manager.

Sorry but it's a one-off game, anything can happen. St Johnstone were able to get a draw and we've spent a vast amount more than them. Murty was able to come in and organise a team to get an away draw. We're 8 points behind and we've only played them once.

The board are to blame, simple as that.

our next manager will be just another scapegoat in a long line of scapegoats.

You don't a manger should be able to provide a team to put out a better performance than that having spent somewhere between 5 and 10 million on transfer fees? St Johnstone managed to get a draw.

  10. Have to disagree. The last two games have been so frustrating at times because when you watch these teams you realise how poor they really are. In the first half last night, Partick could hardly string a pass together. If we had anything about us and we're ruthless, we could kill these games off in the first half.

  11. 27 minutes ago, cushynumber said:

Because we have had to replace a team capable of beating the taigs and we haven't done that yet. Their team cost £20million in transfer fees not to mention wages. We aren't in that ballpark.

But we've already dropped 7 points and we haven't even played them yet. We've spent more money than the likes of Hearts, Hibs and Patrick could afford. Either the budget is being mid-managed, the manager isn't getting enough out of the players or the players aren't performing. And that's two managers in a row now who've had issues beating the lesser teams with far superior budgets.

This. I would happily play both in a five man midfield. 3-5-2 is the way to go. Feel that against better teams we will be overrun in the middle. With a five man midfield , with two holding then we will not be overrun.

Yeah I think a three with Jack, Dorrans and one other would be pretty good. Maybe Rossiter in the bigger games but I think he and Jack are too similar for the smaller teams and games at home. Someone in the style of Holt would be ideal next to Jack and Dorrans I think, someone with energy to get about and cover the whole pitch while Jack sits and Dorrans gets forward. I don't think Holt's good enough but that type of player would be perfect.

  13. 11 minutes ago, dee9 said:

Dorrans really needs to be giving us more. Sitting far to deep which in turn is contributing very little.

Because we only have two in the centre but still want to play the ball out from the back. Dorrans and Jack are outnumbered in the middle nearly every week so they have to come really deep to try and get on the ball then Dorrans is expected to run half the length of the pitch and back to get into the box.

  14. 23 minutes ago, Chineseboy said:

I don't think they should be playing together, one or the other in my opinion. Both seem to be way too similar, and both of them together stops us getting up the pitch quickly. Thoughts?

It's the formation not the players that stops us getting up the pitch quickly. The fact we have two in the centre means they have to do doggies to get up and down the pitch. Imo we should change to  a 4-2-3-1 and have Dorrans playing further it. He is being limited by this formation and I think the opening day shows he can get into the box and score.

We really need Pena to be a player. Not just to get value for our £3m, but to get the best out of Dorrans. If Pena reaches his potential we'll have no choice but to go to 3 in the middle, and that will free up Dorrans to go and play a bit higher up the park, with Jack sitting. He just can't  do that in a 2.

I really think our competitiveness relies a lot on Pena forcing us into a 4231/433. Celtic, Aberdeen and maybe even Hibs will wipe the floor with us if we go into the big games in a 442.

Or if we sign another midfielder in the next 5 days. I think someone in the style of Holt but an upgrade would be ideal next to Jack in a 4-2-3-1 with Dorrans in the 10. Someone with energy to get about the park while Jack sits and Dorrans can get forward and create.

Watched it back and if Tav is marking the goal scorer then Cardoso is marking no one which isn't right as he should be aware of the player behind him since Bruno is closing down the man on the ball. If Cardoso marks Mikkelsen then Tav marks the wide player at the back post (as he should be doing as RB unless we are short of cover in the middle).

Agree but I'm talking about once Cardoso is out the game. Tav can see the goalscorer and is running with him but suddenly stops to mark the space. He has to stick with the boy who scored at that point. If it goes to the back post and the other guy scores then so be it but he has to keep running with the goalscorer.

  17. 1 hour ago, NeoGeo7 said:

His defensive positioning seems to have improved. The times Cardoso got caught out Tav was alert to the danger, something he would have really struggled with last year.

Think for their goal Cardoso was more at fault than Tav.

I think Candeias and Tav have a great understanding already and his cross for the goal (even keeping the ball in play) was excellent.

Still a work in progress but seems to be learning and growing in confidence under Pedro.

I thought Tav played well on the whole today but after a point his involvement in the goal was criminal. He can see the boy running beside him but just stops tracking him because there might be a boy at the back post. He had to stay with the goalscorer.
