The first and possibly the second. Messi is beyond doubt an exceptional player but I think he also benefited from being in an exceptional team and had exceptional managers . MBappe at international level has achieved more but is hampered at club level by being in a team that hasn’t reached those levels. . If he was in a team of the calibre of that Barcelona side I reckon he would already have a couple of champions leagues to go with his World Cup. MBappe has also scored at a faster rate than Messi did until he was the age MBappe is now.
