I’m not ruling it out, Messi is one of the greats for sure but I’m just a Maradona fan. I think he virtually won WC86 by himself. Messi was great this year but others played a big part ,like the goalkeeper who was just about as vital to the win as Messi. Maradona also took a Napoli team who had won almost nothing in their history to 2 titles. Messi was the top man at Barcelona but they were already a huge side.

No argument Messi is an all time great. Mbappe could be. I don’t think Ronaldo would be in that category if he hadn’t joined Madrid so what Mbappe does next could decide whether he achieves that. If in 10 or 12 years it turns out he has joined a Madrid or Barcelona and won multiple champions leagues , world cups and scored hundreds of goals would he not be up there ?

My whole point. He has the potential to be one of the greats. I get the Messi thing and said already he is exceptional but I think it’s hard to compare players from different eras and continents. Players from less recent times achieved what they did despite thug defenders kicking them all over the pitch. These days they get far more protection to showcase their skills.

MBappe is scoring at a faster rate than Ronaldo at his age. Who’s to say what he will achieve over the years . In a week he could have 2 World Cup winners medals at 23 years old.Sure the French league isn’t the top but it’s still considered in the big 5 and it’s hardly the spl. MBappe is more of a Ronaldo type player than a Messi type so if Ronaldo can be considered in the running for greatness then no reason MBappe can’t
