The Ghost

The main concern I had today was the period after we scored. It is understandable struggling to grind out results against teams that pack out a defence and play for a draw but after we scored and Queens were forced to come at us, we were on the back foot and couldn't take advantage of the space generated. iIn some respects, they outplayed us in the last 20 minutes and looked the more likely to score. We have higher quality, fitter players but we are being made to look ordinary by journeymen players who are willing to have a go. A team that has the bottle to come at us from the start instead of waiting until they fall behind could produce a bit of a shock result or be on the end of a hammering. There's just no consistency or predictability in the level of our performance.

We're probably lucky we didn't score too early! Queens played for 0-0, with the hope of grabbing one on the break but when they were forced to go for it and play football, they put us under a lot of pressure and had us struggling to keep the lead. they'll be regretting their negative tactics.

What a way to get the ton up!

Could easily be 1-0 down here. Previous games our conversion rate has been poor while our opponents tend to take one from a handful of shots on target. We could do with a goal before the 60 minute subs.

Our initial hustle and workrate has dropped off now. Need the half time team talk to get the focus back.

Showing more urgency early on than in recent games. Good to see.

He was a great boxer. Will always be one of Scotland's greats. A good man out of the ring too. Saddened to hear that news.

That's probably a realistic possibility too. If that's the case, you have to admire his maturity and confidence and someone is giving him some good advice too.

It does look like we're hedging our bets a bit here with the potential to cash in on an early sale. i hope not as I think that he has genuine potential and with a bit more strength and confidence about him, he could be a good long term prospect to underpin the central core of the team. He has the ability to produce that bit of flair that can change a game and would be a loss.

Aware of the standard of opposition, but it is noticeable that players are moving a lot more off the ball to allow the quick, one touch passes and the pass completion rate is through the roof compared to what it was. This all helps the team to gel and anticipate each other's movement. Get the finishing improved or even just hit the target more and we'll be tough opposition for any Scottish team, even before any transfer additions.
