If it's true, it seems like our strategy is just looking at EPL sides with notoriously effective recruitment departments and approaching the most senior person who isn't totally unrealistic. That made sense with Jewell, because he was actively involved in successful recruitment of first-team players, but it's a bit baffling to earmark a guy with a skillset/background that's probably better suited to what Zeb Jacobs does. Especially when Bisgrove was very clear last night that this "individual will lead our recruitment team". He might be absolutely blinding at finding / recruiting young players with potential, and could be a great candidate for all I know, but I'd also like someone with more experience of leading first-team recruitment. Even if it's at a lower level.

Bisgrove mentioned this process is in its "final stages" last night. He's conducting interviews in London with Bennett this week. The Sun is reporting that Liverpool's Alex Inglethorpe is in the frame for the job. He's their Academy Director, having previously been U21s manager, and reserve team coach (working under Brenda). Before that he coached at Spurs (and turned down the chance to become MK Dons manager to take that job).

Hope to get as many back as possible over the next 7-8 weeks so PC has a chance to see them in-person before deciding what we need in January. If Matondo can keep his performance levels up, he could be really effective under Clement.

It's a smart bit of marketing by the club to invite them after the Texas Rangers cock-up. I was in Texas at the time and it got quite a lot of light-hearted coverage (even heard a few people admiring the strips). It all helps with the global brand.

Heard on H&H that King’s being used as a midfielder recently. Anyone know if that’s been happening for a while or something Clement’s done?

I think we’ll bring in a DOF before January. Just hope it’s soon enough to work with Clement on finding what we need.

Once he’s fully fit and had a run of games and he’ll do really well for us.

We’ve missed some amount of easy chances these last couple of seasons.

I think he’ll be a pretty passable backup until his contract finishes. I’d be very optimistic the next LB we bring in becomes the starter, but realistically we’re not going to get cash for BB, so selling Yilmaz (who might still earn us a bit from Turkey) and keeping Borna is the most likely option.

Yeah, I actually don’t him him sticking around either, we just need to shift Yilmaz to bring in someone better to compete with Borna.

I hope Clement knows a good left-back available on the cheap.
