Martin Paterson became the latest striker to pull out of the Northern Ireland squad last night — handing Rangers reserve Andrew Little his first international call-up.

Rangers star Kyle Lafferty pulled out with an ankle injury on Saturday night which leaves only David Healy, Warren Feeney and the uncapped Jamie Ward fit for the double header against Poland and Slovenia at Windsor Park.

Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington has turned to the untried Little to fill the void left by Paterson who is suffering with a hamstring strain.
