GeneralCartmanLee 313
Centre named after 'Super Ally' McCoist was born in East Kilbride and played football for a local boys team A newly built sports complex in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, is to be named after Scottish football legend Ally McCoist. The £3.5m Alistair McCoist Centre, on the site of the former St Andrew's High School on Quarry Road, is due to open to the public later this month. McCoist, who is Rangers' assistant manager, grew up in the town. The centre will include an eight-court games hall and a third generation five-a-side football pitch. Ally McCoist developed his early football skills at local side Calderwood Blue Star. He went on to play professionally for St Johnstone, Sunderland, Rangers, Kilmarnock and Scotland. Local hero Councillor Gerry Convery, chair of South Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd, said: "The new complex, named in honour of one of East Kilbride's own local heroes and a great ambassador for Scottish football, will provide a great improvement in leisure facilities for the town. "This fantastic £3.5m investment will present an opportunity for local residents to enjoy many sports within the multi-functional sports hall." laudrupforever 17
Brilliant. Not only is it great to see Coisty honoured in such a way, but it means that the more narrow-minded timothys will not be using the facilities. Panning them in maybe, but not actually using them.
