Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed his desperation to beat Manchester United and end his barren spell at Arsenal.

The Togo striker, who will lead the line in the Champions League semi-final first leg at Old Trafford this week, moved to Highbury in January 2006 in a £7million pound deal, but has yet to win a trophy in three and a half seasons with the north London club.

The lack of success has temped AC Milan to try to lure him to the San Siro and, while insisting he is happy at Arsenal, Adebayor likened the interest to being fancied by pop siren Beyonce Knowles.

'I am happy playing for this club and to be honest I am happy AC Milan, one of the legendary clubs in the world, were looking at me,' he told ESPN.

'For me that must be something special. It is like a boy being told Beyonce is looking for them.

'They told me Milan were looking for me. I am quite happy with that but the most important thing is playing for Arsenal.

'I am very happy here so there is no reason for me moving.'

Winning a trophy would certainly make him happier.

Adebayor was cup-tied when Arsenal were beaten in the 2006 Champions League final, but did play in the following season's Carling Cup final defeat against Chelsea.

And Adebayor, 25, is determined to start winning trophies after nearly four years in England - and eight years without a winners' medal as a senior professional footballer.

'The lack of trophies is a big frustration because winning individual awards is not as enjoyable as winning things for the club,' he told ESPN.

'The Champions League is a special trophy for me as I have not won anything in my professional career.
