Is it just me or is there something we should be worrying about regarding this ellis ?

From some of the fans I have spoken to down here he was neither well recieved at QPR or Northampton , I feel two things only that his backers seem more interested in what land they can have IE; Murray park and around the stadium which worries me .

The other thing is that Murray has been V quiet with regard to Ellis so is there someone else lurking ????

Just feeling a bit wary about all this , thoughts guys ???

How can developing the Ibrox area and improving our asset value be a bad thing? If he wants to do this and make a profit out of it ,WITHOUT detriment to the team on the park and the clubs bank balance, why not? The club cannot continue as we are, we are dying a slow and painful death. This may provide the lifeline we need to step forward.

When Murray announced the details of the £700M revamp of the area with Casino etc were you worried then? Its a similar scenario just a different face.

There are differences though the main one being that SDM, whatever his faults, didn't buy Rangers to get the land, where as the suggestion is being made that is why Ellis wants us. Their motivations are different from the start. I accept this is all still speculation.

As a matter of interest has anyone ever redeveloped an area round a club ground without it being detrimental to the team?

I think some european teams do this and it helps them, its eitha Monaco or theg old Olympic stadium in Munich that had underground car parking and shopping mall in it and i remember when being there for a champions leauge match hearing it made Bayern or Monaco whoever it was decent money.

It can be done through decent management and depending on what the redevelopments would be it could work, i aint no expert though so dont count on me lol, but no doubt there is money to be made for both owner and club

You see that's the fear from some people, from what i recall what some people are thinking is if Ellis gets Rangers the land won't be owned by Rangers Ellis will own it.? So Ellis will only be lining his own pockets but Ibrox and Murray Park will be still intact so that please's the fans.

This is only a senario not what i think will happen.

Well Monaco are financed by the Grimaldi Royal family and even then they are hardly competing financially with Europe's leading clubs. Bayern didn't own their stadium until quite recently and Munich 1860 still have an option to buy back 50% of it. The stadium houses club shops but I'm not aware of any retail beyond what you'd expect of a modern stadium.

Glasgow City Council have already stated no new retail developments will be allowed outside the city centre because of pressure from city centre retailers.

Its an obvious selling point so whos to say no matter who comes in they wont be thinking that way? They are not going to make money out of Rangers alone. If people are expecting someone to come in to Rangers with one thought in mind and that is to spend Millions upon Millions on the team without a return they really need to wake up and smell the decaf. The club has been available for YEARS now and not even a sniff. We need something to happen either way.
