Doddie Auctions Prized Medal

0,,5%7E9879725,00.jpgALEX MACDONALD was one of the Rangers stars who ended Celtic's stranglehold of the Scottish title with a terriric championship win in 1975.

Celtic had won the previious nine league crowns and you had to go back to 1964 to find the last Rangers' success.

It remains the longest barren spell in Rangers' history and therefore makes the 1974/75 title win so important and so revered by supporters.

The title was clinched at Easter Road when Colin Stein, brought back to the club from Coventry City, powered a header into the net to secure a 1-1 draw which was enough to secure glory.

It was a colossal moment for Rangers and their fans and now MacDonald is auctioning the medal he won that season.

Fans will be able to bid for the prized item at a special tribute dinner to held at Glasgow's Thistle Hotel on Friday, September 2.

There will also be a special painting up for grabs (above) which depicts MacDonald's celebration after his winning goal against Celtic in the 1975/76 League Cup Final.
