Rangers have been fined £8,280 by Uefa for the improper conduct of their fans during the game with Osasuna in March.

Uefa expressed concern at the behaviour of a minority of Rangers supporters during the defeat to Osasuna in Pamplona, which saw Rangers crash out of the Uefa Cup.

The Rangers fans were involved in clashes with police inside the ground and they were also accused of sectarian chanting.

Osasuna have been fined £31,050 for a lack of organisation and insufficient segregation of supporters at Estadio Reyno de Navarra.

Uefa's control and disciplinary body decided to issue the sanctions after a hearing into the events on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Rangers star Brahim Hemdani has vowed to stay at Ibrox.

The former Marseille man has been linked with a move away from Ibrox following the arrival of Walter Smith.

However, Hemdani, who was voted Rangers' Player of the Season, insists he has no plans to quit the Glasgow club.

"I signed for four years and if everybody is happy with my work then I am happy to stay.

"I would expect to be a Rangers player again next season.

"We have to get back to winning trophies again, although it will be difficult as we said the same thing at the start of this season."

"The Rangers fans were involved in clashes with police inside the ground and they were also accused of sectarian chanting."

Does this mean we were fined for the fighting and there was no evidence of sectarian chanting ?

What was Spurs and Man Utd fined ?

UEFA Fine Rangers

Following on from events at our UEFA Cup match against Osasuna in Pamplona, the Club was today fined 20,000 Swiss francs by UEFA (£8,280).

We expect to receive the full reasons for the judgement from UEFA in the next few days.

The Club understands that the penalty reflects mainly discriminatory singing at the end of the match.

However, we believe that in coming to their decision, UEFA has acknowledged the great efforts the Club and our supporters have made in tackling sectarianism with measures including the fans' self-policing drive.

We also understand UEFA has listened carefully to the very strong case the Club and its supporters made in relation to the treatment of fans at the match and the woeful segregation arrangements.

The Club is grateful to our supporters for their co-operation in putting together our case.
