Apologies but had to say this....

I didn't have access to post on any other topic.

I hope I'm not out of order posting on here. It's just that I can't hold back my tears as I read some of the posts, on here and on Jambos Kickabck.

I'm a Heart of Midlothian FC supporter. I'm 36 years old and started watching Hearts when I was 7 years old.

Sandy Jardine was captain when I started watching my beloved football team (84/85 season). Being brought up in East Kilbride, supporting any other team other than Rangers or Celtic was a hard task in my surroundings. Constantly bullied at school for the team I supported etc..

I stuck with all the crap I took supporting a 'different' team (my father is from Edinburgh). I had no idea what the heck was going on... I was just being taken to all these football matches... I was 7 years old.... I didn't have a clue what was going on.... but I know I enjoyed it.

What a team we had during the 85/86 season. It was my first full season watching football. Great players such as Sandy Clarke, John Robertson, John Colquhoun, and of course William "Sandy" Pullar Jardine.

I'm convinced that the only reason HMFC became a reasonable force in scottish football again is because of 3 people. Wallace Mercer, Alex McDonald, and Sandy Jardine.

As far as I'm concerned, McDonald and Jardine were / are the foundation on why Hearts are the third biggest supported club in the country. They brought us back where we deserved to be and for that I will be eternally grateful.

There's an HMFC video called 'Back from the Brink' where Sandy is interviewed. Again, I hope I'm not out of order posting this on a Rangers forum, but it's all about the man... not the football team. I'm going to add it in here. Sandy talks at 17:25, 18:46, 33:30. He plays a great ball through on the first ever live televised league game in the top flight of Scottish football at 39:14 (Alex Ferguson was in charge of Aberdeen), 41:45, and then Wallace mercer comments on him from 46:30 followed by Sandy.

Sandy, you inspired myself to love this game, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. My sincere condolences to your family on friends.

RIP William "Sandy" Pullar Jardine.

You inspired a generation. You will never be forgotten.

As far as I'm concerned young man; there is no need to apologise to anybody for your fitting tribute to a great man such as William 'Sandy' Pullar Jardine.

The fact he was a brilliant footballer is secondary to the fact he was a man of principles and dignity who will be sorely missed by every fair minded person that knew of him.

I also thank you for sharing the video.

PS: you are correct about Mercer, MacDonald and Sandy Jardine.

nice of you to post your feelings about Sandy but really Hearts supporters are not welcome on here as far as I`m concerned.

He came her to pay a tribute to a great man who was a legend for our club, not as a fucking Hearts supporter.

I fucking despair at some of the shit that goes on in Scotland at times. doh

OK, no problem.

As I said, it was more about the man than the football team but I respect the fact this is a Rangers Forum.

Well said sir.

There are things that boundaries overcome and this is one.

A Legend has sadly gone , and as much as we'd like to keep him to ourselves , the beauty about Sandy is that he affected all of us , such was his presence .

No probs mate. I don't think many will agree with crackfox on his comment.

I thought it was nice of the guy to come and give a different side to his memories.

It was.

He had more balls than I would have.

Just shows how much Sandy Jardine meant to everyone , which is huge accolade and speaks volumes for Sandy himself as a footballer , and , more importantly as a man.

Again , sorry for the misinterpretation .

I hope you dont take offence to this (and it's certainly not meant to be offensive), but I get the feeling from your post that you have been around a bit longer than myself my friend... which in turn leads me to believe that you perhaps seen Sandy at the peak of his career.

I wish I could remember his earlier days but alas... my mum and dad took too long to get thier finger oot... or should I say that my father took too long to get something else oot ;)

All I can say is that I literally had tears rolling down my face when I seen the tributes on here and on Jamobs Kickback and couldn't help but think back to when times were much simpler, and I'm not normally one for sentimentality.

It was just thinking back to the glorious days of my childhood, Sandy played a massive part in them and I'm forever grateful that I was there to witness it. He was captain of the first (and turns out only) ever football team I supported, and one of the reasons why I never strayed (and being brought up in East Kilbride, I was certainly tempted).

I grew up with Sandy Jardine being our right back. But as I've said in other topics, it was not so much what he did on the park , and by the way , he was an excellent in that role , but what shone through was his decency as a man that crossed all boundaries. You , being a Hearts fan , I'm sure , will appreciates him in the same way.

Like I said before , I'd love to keep him for ourselves , but the reality is , is that he transcended all that ,and we'll all miss him.

There is certainly no offence taken about my age, young man :pipe: as i'm probaly older that your father going by your age.

For me, Sandy Jardine at his peak could have arguably walked into any top side in Europe and there weren't too many fullbacks in the world better than Sandy at that time. You don't get voted as one of the best fullbacks at a World cup finals for nothing, as Sandy (and Danny McGrain) did in the 1974 tournament in West Germany.

Your passion for the Jambos is admirable (although slightly warped) but if you remember Sandy Jardine as a player, you watched one of the best in my opinion.

BTW...Don't expect this sort of kindness when we pump your mob rotten next season :D

all the best, young fella. :pipe:

Outstanding comment. I wish had the opportunity to meet him in my adult life (I spoke to him when I was around 11 years old when a sponsered charity walk was done around the pitch at Tynecastle). I've no doubt the feelings I had from when I was a boy would be no different to the way I feel about the man just now. In that brief conversation I just remember him saying.. 'Just believe in yourself'.

I remember the great man as a player. Could never forget. Strange that I remember him as a centre half though rather than a full back but most likely my memory is shite.

I've no doubt that no love will be lost when we meet next season. For the record I think you will go up I don't think you'll find it quite so easy as you have in recent seasons. We have the making of some cracking young players (if we can keep them - I'd go so far as to say that I dont Think Templeton would get in the team) and in my opinion most of the pressure will be on yoursleves, but regardless it will be the most interesting season a Hearts fan has had in a long time :)

In any case, I'm looking forward to some big games against yourselves and the Hobos (Hibs) :)
