Haha honestly? That's a strange career path

Aye, he's at the team won the Icelandic league last year (FH).

Interesting article in the Rhebel about him last year:

That's nuts  glad he's settled out there, just seems weird as fuck where he ended up.

Out of contract though at the end of the season ;)

I remember reading it. All young footballers in Scotland should read that article. A very common problem, Im sure.

There was a boy at Bo'ness United that gave up the football and took up 400m running. I think he ran in the relay at the Commonwealth games.

After he started doing the training he was very disparaging about how football players were being trained and how they looked after themselves. He freely admitted he was as bad as the rest of them, but was now doing things completely differently as an athlete as compared to his time as a player. Think there was a documentary in which he featured at the time.

And we wonder why we can't produce the youngsters!

Good point mate. If you look at athletics, boxing, tennis, swimming and cycling etc and the sheer dedication and effort these guys have to put in to their training regimes in terms of fitness, technical ability, what they consume etc etc, just to compete at the top level then it's clear there's a problem across Scottish football at all levels! Too many talented youngsters fall by the wayside year on year for a variety of reasons! I always compare our football with the English Premiership (not just the younger players emerging but the final product) and we appear to be light years behind! It's actually like watching fine tuned athletes compared to our guys, who are often full of work rate but little else! When I was a kid playing boys club football, the coach had us attempting bunny hops up and down a set of three stairs, over and over...it was agony!! The emphasis at that age should have been on enjoying the game and getting plenty of time on the ball! Thankfully, we've moved on from that, just about! Radical change is needed, with a structure put in place where there's a clear, workable, path for aspiring players to follow from boys clubs through to senior football!

In saying all that, at Rangers, there is a massive shift in culture and we can rest assured that all our players are in the very best of hands!!

Was there not a big hype about Stevie Lennon as well? don't think he did anything for himself. Don't think Gasparotto was ever in contention to be part of Warburton's plans hence his release.

Stevie Lennon was outstanding for the double winning youth team  of a decade ago but was never going to be a regular first team player imo.

Never thought that Gasparotto was going to play regularly under MW but deserved a chance in the year or so before that in preference to Zaliukas, Moshni, McCulloch etc.
