I mostly agree but believe that the squad (as they have shown all too frequently since) was unable to continue to motivate itself after success - the first win at Parkhead, winning the title etc. What needed to happen was a refresh of the squad at that point so that that hunger was kept fresh. That was probably partly Gerrard who wanted to keep his star players and the Board who believed they'd overspent and wouldn't invest in a kep couple of players.

I am assuming that King's overriding motivation is to sell his shares. He may well be willing to bring in external investors through a take over or essentially force existing investors to buy him out. I don't doubt he also cares about Rangers and will see either scenario as positive. He is also right that the board and management structure is wrong and light and lacking in forward momentum. They are turning it around but it looks like turning an oiltanker around in a canal lock. Our current board are Rangers supporters but so were the previous owners, the Easdales (is there something about bus company owners?) But without resources it's one hell of a task, particularly as we are now 12 years into The Journey and only won 1 title. Investment is vital but it slso needs to be friendly. I don't believe the £50m hype. Maybe over many years to build infrastructure but a few million spent well on and off the park will work wonders.
