Tynes actually made the hardest of the three kicks, the tit's from Greenock as well.

Giants weren't really underdogs against Tampa, who were 9-7 from a very weak division. The last two road wins have been very impressive though, especially last night, they were by far the better team.

Maroney. :D

Haha Tynes missed both field goal attempts and converts the longest one in overtime. Patriots V Giants for the Superbowl. Giants have no chance.

Just saw that about Tynes- C'MON THE BIG BLUE! Here's hoping for a major upset in the SB.

But that was the mighty Rams, the greatest show on turf!! And some QB Kurt Warner was too.

Anyone fancy NYG for this one? I reckon theyre definately in with a shout, but if Brady and co really turn it on it could be a loooonnngg night for the Giants. I'd like to see Michael Strahan win a Superbowl tho, and if Eli Manning led his team to victory, would everyone get off his back and allow him to step out of Peyton's shadow?

Here's an intersting article from ESPN which theorises that The New England Patriots would actually become immortalised in history if they lost rather than won

Most Perfect

The Giants are the biggest outsiders in NFL history so it would be a VERY big ask of them to win the Superbowl even if it wasn't against a team with the quality New England boasts. Here's some stats from another ESPN article that show how uphill the battle is for the Giants.

The Giants have a regular season record of 10-6. The Giants are one of only 3 teams since 1978 to get to the Superbowl with a regular season record of less than 11-5. The others were the LA Rams of 1979 (9-7) who lost and the San Francisco 49ers (10-6) who won but with one hell of an offensive unit.

The Giants beat their regular season opponents by a combined 22 points. Only 2 teams have made the SB with less than 50 point margin. Again the 1979 Rams and the 2003 Carolina Panthers.

The Giants turnover differential was -10 the lowest of any team to ever make the Superbowl. It's rare for a team to make a Superbowl with a negative differential and those that do usually outscore their opponents by much bigger margins than the Giants.

The Giants have played better in the post-season but so did the 2003 Panthers who also won by bigger margins. The Giants have been the least dominating post-season team required to win 3 matches.

Some might argue that the Colts last year had the worst run defence and scoring defence record but they were missing Bob Sanders for most of the regular season. The Giants can't blame their bad record on the injuries of any specific key player. Also the 2007 Patriots are certainly not the same team as the 2006 Bears.

So do the Giants have a chance? Of course they have a chance, everyone who takes the field on Superbowl Sunday has a chance but for the Giants it is the smallest chance in NFL history.

Hope this has given all you NE haters confidence :D:P

Rams played a helluva game against Pittsburgh in '79, losing 31-19 (game was closer than the final score). Would've been an entirely different game had the Rams star DE Jack Youngblood not been playing the entire game with a fractured fibula in his left leg (and indeed, he played throughout the playoffs with this affliction - one tough SOB was Jack!).

As for Warner - quality QB, proved it again this year with the Cards, even though Arizona has no where near the talent of the GSOT.

KW's a quality gent as well, doing loads of charity work. 1999-2000 was a season to savour for all Rams fans, as would have been 2000-2001 had not NE gotten away with murder to "win" SB XXXVI. Loathe those cheating bastards with a passion because of that game, and what the officials let them get away with in it!

The Giants are certainly capable of pulling off an upset - played NE close in regular season before going down to them. Never say never!
