Maybe he isn't in hindsight, but before last night Phil obviously felt Sterling needed the rest more. Lundstrum would no doubt have got his rest when the gaffer thought the time was right. Not being rested isn't the reason he is now out injured, Scottish Football hatchet men are.

Next two are Motherwell and Ross County, I know Rice isn't training with the first team at the minute but surely has to come in to the reckoning now to play alongside Sterling.

For someone who has barely kicked a ball in months, I thought he did reasonably well last night. Given his injury record though, I'd be keeping him on ice for the next 10 days.
