  1. Report on tonight's U16 game https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2021/08/18/first-half-blitz-from-u16s/
  2. We have a few players that have a chance but how do they progress and how do we measure it. Some players will benefit from playing in the Lowland League but some of the teams are of a poor standard, the last two games being a prime example. The next two games are against the bottom two teams in the league. Edinburgh Uni have lost 21 goals in 8 games, while Vale of Leithen have lost 33 goals in 7 games. With Leon King spending last season with the first team, Cole McKinnon and Kyle McClelland playing quite a few games in League One, two tiers above the Lowland League. I'm not sure that these Lowland League games are of great benefit to them and possibly a few others. All just my opinion of course.

  6. The game was also ended early, not sure how early. They are boys club standard at best. Maybe Chelsea would have given the U16's a better game.
  7. A bit rusty, after a shaky start he was fine.

  9. Just to clarify the rules for Rangers Colts team, Team is under 20, with one U21 outfield player and an U21 goalkeeper allowed. As yet Rangers haven't used that option yet.

  11. Report on this morning's high scoring U16 game. https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2021/08/01/high-scoring-game-at-the-orium/
  12. Yes that is my plan for tomorrow.
  13. I heard it was only 7-0. But the game was cut short.
  14. Only four U18's been playing for the B Team, Leon King, Mackenzie Strachan, Charlie Lindsay and Robbie Ure. Highly unlikely that Leon would play U18's.
  15. Rangers have never fielded under age sides on a regular basis. On the odd occasion they will play a whole group up against perceived weaker opposition. On saying that the U18 squad is a bit thin at the moment, with a four playing in the Lowland League and low numbers of U 17's the bench had a few U 16's The starting line up was 5 x U18's, 5 x U17's and 1 x U16. United had 6 x U 18's, 3 x U17's and 2 x U16's. So very similar age profiles.

  19. An out and out goalscorer, always seems to be in the right place.
  20. only seen him not score in a game where he was a late sub, scored every other game I've watched him.

  23. With Rangers Colts starting their Lowland League Campaign next weekend, a look at some familiar faces we will come up against this season. https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2021/07/11/former-academy-players-in-lowland-league/
  24. A bit of background on the Lowland League and U18's League. Where we are at the moment in terms of number of players, we do look low on numbers at the moment. Would expect some recruitment from U17's to U20's which is an unknown at the moment. 34 games in Lowland League, Challenge Cup if we enter it, Youth Cup, Champions Youth League and U18 League (25 -30 games). Lowland League rules state the Colts squad is Under 20 with one U21 and an U21 goalkeeper. As it stands we have six Under 20 players, Kai Kennedy won't play in the Lowland League, Kyle McLelland got decent game time at Falkirk two leagues above this level. So at the most five available possibly four. We have nine Under 19 players, 13 players at under 18 (Leon King unlikely to play either U18's or Lowland League) and only four at U17 on pro contracts. I believe there are another five U17's retained but not on pro contracts. In summary I don't think we have enough players to cover all these games and be competitive in the Lowland League. I know this is about development but there is a perception among many that Rangers and Celtic would easily finish in the top two. In reality Rangers and probably Celtic, (although I don't know their numbers) will have very young teams. Rangers look like being predominately Under 19. Some Under 18's will push into the Lowland League squad which will obviously impact on the Under 18 team we field in their League. Pretty sure some players will be recruited but how many and what age profile is a guess. I would expect players brought in would be more likely to be at the younger end.
