An international striker who is at a good age, know's where the net is, and has a few clubs across Europe looking at him - I doubt anyone on here knows the real calibre of Nikica Jelavic, but from what little we have all seen, he has impressed. Although some are getting carried away - pretty much expected due to the position we are currently in, and have been for sometime. It's just indicative of how far standards have fallen - there was a time when he'd have been no more than a squad player for us. I really hope this goes through, but i'm trying not to get too worked up as I can't help feeling we'll all be brought back down to earth with Bain announcing we couldnt agree a fee, their demands were too much, his wages were a problem.......etc.

It's a sign of the times that we're so excited over the possibility of signing Nikica Jelavic. This calibre of player should be par for the course for Rangers.

I reckon Miller might be off, although his age and shin splints will no doubt deter clubs from making a bid.

Who is Jelavic? A far better option with far greater sell-on value than Benjani or Vassell.

WEST BROM have failed in a bid to land Allan McGregor. The Baggies admitted defeat after Rangers slapped a £6m tag on their Scotland keeper. We heard every year about how the youngsters will push on and become first-teamers, but it rarely happens. I can't see this year being the exception.

Not if he's going to cost too much. We need other positions, out wide is a priority! I still reckon we need two strikers worthy of the name, as there's a fair chance Miller will be off. Naismith, Lafferty and Velicka are just not up to it.

I'd still think Jelavic should be the priority, but Welcome would be a decent squad player by the sounds of things.

If they want any more than £2.5m for a player in the last year of his contract they're pushing their luck.

Faultless assessment - Lafferty is a serial winner! Its true though. There's nothing wrong with trying to put a positive spin on a more or less bad thing. Spot on mate, to many fans look for the negatives in our players first than the positives. When the negatives vastly outweigh the positives people tend to do that.

So those of us who don't rate him shouldn't celebrate his goals?

Players from far-flung places like this who won't cost the earth in transfer fees and wages, and who have a potential sell on value, are the ones we should be looking at. Better trying to unearth a gem from a smaller league than wasting money on over-rated, over-paid Primadonnas from the Championship.

Its that people have faith mate. That is all, for some people we look for the positives first and not the negatives. I Couldnt care if he was useless, Broadfoot is never good enough for rangers, yet when hes on that pitch he gives more than 100%. And at the end of his career, he will be able to say hes one of few who has played in a european final. Hey may not be a world superstar, but his work rate got him there. Why cant our great fans just not get behind our own players for a change and not have a go for no reason. Im sure all would agree if lafferty keeps up the form from last 2 month of the season and the game vs blackburn then he can play a major role this season, with the squad being so small. Hes 22 getting abused while Little and Shinnie sit there, 21 years old, being called youngsters. Its terrible and it has to stop. Any player who puts on that jersey should get your backing, even if they arent as good as you thought they would be. Leave the abuse of our players to the taigs. Shinnie and Little can hardly be abused as they've scarcely played any first-team games.

Cousin had a cult following? read the board mate, the amout of times Cousins name is brought up when talking about signing strikers is laughable. "we need someone like Cousin" "a Cousin type player" lazy pish who only turned up a few times a year. No thanks. A striker in the mould of Cousin wouldn't be bad at all, minus the primadonna attitude of course. Doesn't make him a cult hero.
