  2. An international striker who is at a good age, know's where the net is, and has a few clubs across Europe looking at him - I doubt anyone on here knows the real calibre of Nikica Jelavic, but from what little we have all seen, he has impressed. Although some are getting carried away - pretty much expected due to the position we are currently in, and have been for sometime. We just can't afford these expensive, proven international players on high wages these day's. ffs, you started tanning your wrists yet ? if we had no chance of affording him, the club would have pulled out of the transfer already, rather than wasting time on someone who "you know" we have no chance of signing ? gies piece with the constant negativity on here, turning an optomistic thread into one where people can't be arsed looking in as they know there will be the same people looking for a moan some optomism would go down well rant over I'm not so sure. They may well just be stringing us along knowing full well they ain't going to be signing him, as a result they can say they're trying. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we don't sign anybody. Would love to be proven wrong though.

I'm excited about it as well, don't get me wrong. It's just indicative of how far standards have fallen - there was a time when he'd have been no more than a squad player for us. I really hope this goes through, but i'm trying not to get too worked up as I can't help feeling we'll all be brought back down to earth with Bain announcing we couldnt agree a fee, their demands were too much, his wages were a problem.......etc.
  4. It's a sign of the times that we're so excited over the possibility of signing Nikica Jelavic. This calibre of player should be par for the course for Rangers.
  5. I reckon Miller might be off, although his age and shin splints will no doubt deter clubs from making a bid.
  6. In that case you'll be shocked to know that King William and the Pope were political allies. http://flag.blackened.net/revolt/talks/king_billy.html
  7. Who is Jelavic? A far better option with far greater sell-on value than Benjani or Vassell.
  8. Moore is a fucking dud, the other two aint much better. I'd rather take the money.
  9. WEST BROM have failed in a bid to land Allan McGregor. The Baggies admitted defeat after Rangers slapped a £6m tag on their Scotland keeper. Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo offered a choice of FOUR first-team stars AND cash to get his man. Matteo wanted McGregor to battle it out with England goalie Scott Carson to be West Brom's No1, but had to turn his attention to Hull City's £1.5 million Welsh keeper Boaz Myhill when Gers refused to budge. Rangers have already lost a string of stars this summer, including Kris Boyd, Kevin Thomson, Nacho Novo, Steven Smith and Danny Wilson. West Brom's part-exchange list is believed to have included striker Luke Moore, defenders Gianni Zuiverloon and Abdoulaye Meite and a loan deal for New Zealand's teenage World Cup striker Chris Wood. McGregor's agent David Baldwin said: "It's something I wasn't aware of but it is always flattering for Allan to know he is held in such high regard. "But as ever, he remains 100 per cent focused for Rangers."
  10. We heard every year about how the youngsters will push on and become first-teamers, but it rarely happens. I can't see this year being the exception.
  11. Not if he's going to cost too much. We need other positions, out wide is a priority! I still reckon we need two strikers worthy of the name, as there's a fair chance Miller will be off. Naismith, Lafferty and Velicka are just not up to it.
  12. I'd still think Jelavic should be the priority, but Welcome would be a decent squad player by the sounds of things.
  13. If they want any more than £2.5m for a player in the last year of his contract they're pushing their luck.
  14. He doesn't seem keen on playing for us. He is trying to boost his career by using us and our champions league spot. Don't want him he is shit. Would rather we try and sign Jelavic, Mphela, Khumalo, Pulhac, Belahoune or even try get eagles again. Eagles has had his chance, fuck him.
  15. WALTER SMITH insists he won't rush into buying new players for Rangers. The Ibrox boss has yet to make a summer signing with less than two weeks to go before the season starts. Stars Kris Boyd, Kevin Thomson, Nacho Novo and Danny Wilson have all gone while rivals Celtic have totally rebuilt their squad. Smith has promised Gers fans he's working hard behind the scenes to get three players in. Rapid Vienna star Nikica Jelavic is now top of his list but Smith insists he won't rush in. He said: "I can confirm that we have an interest in Jelavic and talks are ongoing, but negotiations are going a bit slower than we would have hoped. "With regards others I'm not just going to dive in and take people for the sake of taking them. "The club, on a previous occasion when they were cutting back, did that. I'm not going to do it again. "We know we have to get players in but I'm hopeful that we can rectify that. We're not going to have the money for a huge spend but we'll get two or three players, hopefully, signed before the season. "We've still got a month of the transfer window left. That's a factor in how we are operating. "We were after Chris Eagles because I thought he'd bring something to the team. That is crucial to anything we do."
  16. Faultless assessment - Lafferty is a serial winner! Its true though. There's nothing wrong with trying to put a positive spin on a more or less bad thing. Spot on mate, to many fans look for the negatives in our players first than the positives. When the negatives vastly outweigh the positives people tend to do that.
  17. So those of us who don't rate him shouldn't celebrate his goals?
  18. Players from far-flung places like this who won't cost the earth in transfer fees and wages, and who have a potential sell on value, are the ones we should be looking at. Better trying to unearth a gem from a smaller league than wasting money on over-rated, over-paid Primadonnas from the Championship.
  19. Its that people have faith mate. That is all, for some people we look for the positives first and not the negatives. I Couldnt care if he was useless, Broadfoot is never good enough for rangers, yet when hes on that pitch he gives more than 100%. And at the end of his career, he will be able to say hes one of few who has played in a european final. Hey may not be a world superstar, but his work rate got him there. Why cant our great fans just not get behind our own players for a change and not have a go for no reason. Im sure all would agree if lafferty keeps up the form from last 2 month of the season and the game vs blackburn then he can play a major role this season, with the squad being so small. Hes 22 getting abused while Little and Shinnie sit there, 21 years old, being called youngsters. Its terrible and it has to stop. Any player who puts on that jersey should get your backing, even if they arent as good as you thought they would be. Leave the abuse of our players to the taigs. Shinnie and Little can hardly be abused as they've scarcely played any first-team games.
  20. Cousin had a cult following? read the board mate, the amout of times Cousins name is brought up when talking about signing strikers is laughable. "we need someone like Cousin" "a Cousin type player" lazy pish who only turned up a few times a year. No thanks. A striker in the mould of Cousin wouldn't be bad at all, minus the primadonna attitude of course. Doesn't make him a cult hero.
